It is not a rule. Whoever said top 40 status is 1 hit wonder is BS. I gave plenty of examples of songs hitting top 40 that werent hits and songs not hitting top 40 that were hits. Too bad nobody else uses your criteria.

But its stupid. How is Far East Movements Live My Life a hit when it hit top 40 and no one knows it. And how is El Perdon not a hit when it did not make top 40 but made Year End Charts 2015.

I hardly think you have the credibility to use that phrase.

You're right. It's not a perfect system, and there are many big songs that peak at #41 as well as an even bigger number of lame songs that debut one week in the Top 40 before dropping out the next week. But the system they are using is the one people have agreed on and it removes arbitrary judgement, human errors, etc. If you can come up with an easier system, I'd be glad to hear it.

My only question is: Does Remy Ma count since she was on "Lean Back"?

My only question is: Does Remy Ma count since she was on "Lean Back"? Well it seems like Terror Squad is another one of those "Rap collectives" along the lines of Young Money and Rich Gang. Some of the newer songs by these "rap collectives" are credited as Collective featuring Artist such as Trophies, Young Money featuring Drake or Lifestyle, Rich Gang featuring Young Thug & Rich Homie Quan. This has always been pretty confusing to me. Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan ARE Rich Gang, and they're the only people with vocals on the song. It would be like "Destiny's Child featuring Beyonce, Kelly Rowland & Michelle Williams" It just doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, that rant aside, I think Remy Ma should count because Lean Back seems to be officially credited to Terror Squad and Terror Squad alone. At least as shown here: www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/2004-08-21I think because it's credited this way, she should be treated the same as Zayn. Although to be honest, I wouldn't be counting featured spots at all if it were up to me. Just like we all celebrated Drake's first #1 a few weeks ago, features shouldn't count for this type of thing imo.

An easier system is if the songs are actually remembered or no. I've already explained why this doesn't work. But to summarize, just because you do or don't remember a given song doesn't mean everyone else does or doesn't remember that song and 99% of songs that were ever popular in the history of time aren't remembered today.

Really Really didn't make the top forty? Doesnt matter if he did or didnt. Kevin Gates is not a 1 hit wonder since Really Really is still considered a hit. Doesnt have to hit top 40. Still well known, so its a hit.

Meanwhile Piece by Piece is NOT a hit even if it reached top 40. I would sincerely beg to differ. Top 5 on Hot AC (which by now is closer to her core format), top 10 at AC. Top 50 at pop (really should've caught on, but meh whatever). It spent two weeks in the top 20 on the Hot 100 (including a week in the top 10), topped the iTunes digital chart and had a much-streamed and talked about Idol performance, and just because a lot of it was on Facebook versus Youtube (detracting from her streaming potential) does not negate any of this. I wouldn't call it a major hit by any stretch of the imagination but it made a BIG impact for the short time it had widespread exposure. To me your post is just another example of 'I will deny and/or downplay any success something has on the grounds that I personally don't like it' which has done your credibility no favours in the past.

Meanwhile Piece by Piece is NOT a hit even if it reached top 40. But it's remembered. Being remembered has no bearing on the definition of a "hit."

If Wild Things peaks at #50 it's likely not going to be well-remembered in the future. Even if it did scrape the bottom of the top 40, it'll be another forgotten follow-up from a one hit wonder like "Good Girls Don't", "Automatic Man", "Obscene Phone Caller", "Pop Goes the World", "Love Is", "Girl I've Been Hurt", "Incomplete", "Ordinary Day", "Better Than Me", "Good Time", "Gentleman", "Give It 2 U", "Stand By You", or "Hey Brother". And since it won't, it'll be like "Let Your Hair Down" or "Feel Right".

Kai will be a one-hit wonder but Flume could be here for a while.
