I really like this a lot. Almost all of the songs on the album are growers, which is a good thing I think. Not sure where it stands right now in terms of their 3 albums for me. My favs are Human, Spaceman, Joy Ride, This Is Your Life, and Neon Tiger. This Is Your Life could have been one of their best songs to date if they would have added a chorus to it, but it's still a great song. Just feels kind of incomplete without a real chorus. Spaceman is the biggest hit on the album, imo. This is definitely their least radio friendly album by far, I think they should only release Spaceman and Joy Ride as the 2nd and 3rd singles, and keep the rest album only.

I love the saxofauxne on the first track - very Duran Duranesque.

What an awesome performance. Visually stunning, and the song just never gets old.

I don't ever want to hear a comparison between the epically sheisetastic MGMT and this epically amazing band...EVER AGAIN! That said, some of these songs are so great that they make me hard. Those songs would be: This Is Your Life, Joy Ride, Human, Spaceman, Neon Tiger, A Crippling Blow and Goodnight, Travel Well. The latter is the new stoner classic.

OMG what was that extra part at the end. EPIC! I highly doubt The Killers will recreate that live though. They seem to be a pretty no-frills band live from the 3 times I have seen them. They kinda just get up there and rock out, much like Spoon, The Strokes and Kings of Leon. Although, OK Go did trot out the treadmills when they played at a club in Boston so who knows, LOL.

That performance was great! The whole set up was awesome. I would love to see that live, but I feel like it'll be like all of their tours with one "The Killers" sign behind them and that's it .

I do like this, but I honestly don't like it quite as much as I was hoping too. Initially, "Human" is my favorite, with "Spaceman, "Losing Touch" and "Joy Ride" coming up afterwards. I'm hoping that this is an album that grows on me in time, because I was really wanting to like it as much as their other two.

It has grown to be my favorite Killers album over the epic Sam's Town AND my album of the year. This Is Your Life is AMAZING.

I really like the album...It's great having new Killers songs to hear!! I find their music really uplifting sometimes. Fave tracks are I Can't Stay, Dustland Fairytale, This Is Your Life, The World We Live In, Spaceman and of course Human...I think I fell in love with Hot Fuss and Sam's Town a bit quicker, but still enjoying this and have it on constant repeat atm

I don't ever want to hear a comparison between the epically sheisetastic MGMT and this epically amazing band...EVER AGAIN! From B.Flo's own mouth: This was written all over the world…in Panama, Vegas, London, Budapest. For 'Spaceman' I was looking for a mixture of 'Space Oddity' and 'Rocket Man'. 'Losing Touch' is one of my favourites - that one’s so good it doesn’t feel like it’s our song! It’s just so concise; it’s really mature song writing. Everything in it does what it’s supposed to. 'Neon Tiger' - ha! I was trying to write like MGMT. thequietus.com/articles/00637-the-killers-interviewed-world-exclusive

I didn't like this so much when I streamed it a week or so ago, but it's getting such good reviews/word-of-mouth, I may have to try again.

It's their best CD. Initially, I thought it would be #1 on my Top 50 of 2008 list but I think there is WAY too much competition this year. Coldplay's VLV is better even if the Killers are a better band. Even TV On The Radio, who I usually LOATHE, put out a better album. It breaks my heard to do the Killers that way.

I think I've decided that my favorite tracks are "This Is Your Life" and "A Dustland Fairytale". Also, "I Can't Stay" makes me feel like I'm on the beach for some reason. Still loving this album .

I saw them in August and they had more than just a Killers sign behind them?! It was a really pretty set up and I remember being surprised at how elaborate it was.

Spaceman
I'm loving B.Flo's fashions.
I've dropped this album out of rotation, but I'm going to see them next week with M83 (!!!!!) so maybe that'll renew my interest.

I've FINALLY heard this record for the first time today (I just can't afford albums right now, and the sound is broken on my home computer which makes it especially difficult for me to hear MP3's of new material)
This is their best album to date. As many of you remember all too well, I was one of the harshest critics of their sophomore record "Sam's Town". I praised "Read My Mind" and also considered "For Reasons Unknown" and "Bones" fairly decent tracks, but otherwise sharply criticized the album for being lyrically dry and derivative, where he's basically aping Bruce Springsteen throughout the album yet just comes across as though he's parodying him more than paying homage to him, and musically grandiose and epic-feeling yet not conveying anything remotely inspiring beyond "Read My Mind", the album's sole classic.
As for "Hot Fuss", I have long said how I thought the first half of the album is outstanding and most enjoyable, but after "Andy, You're a Star" the album loses momentum in the second half, so feels like an inconsistent album that nonetheless has a brilliant first half (had they included "Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll", "Under The Gun" and "Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf" on the record instead of the so-so "Midnight Show" and "On Top", it could have potentially been a modern classic of this era, and will instead be remembered as a great, but not excellent, debut)
With "Day & Age", however, I was engaged from beginning to end: the first time I've felt this way about a Killers record thus far. Musically it's more diverse than anything they've done thus far. I LOVE that saxophone work on "Losing Touch", that's also on another track I can't remember the name of at the moment. The steel drums alone on "I Can't Stay" make the song stand out. I think the atmospheric production is also gorgeous in some places, especially "A Dustland Fairytale".
I think Brandon Flowers has never sounded better and appealing also. He sounds more confident than ever, has that attitude that he lacked on most of "Sam's Town". "Neon Tiger" and "Joy Ride" are perfect examples of that, and both "Spaceman" and "Goodnight, Travel Well" demonstrates how he has matured lyrically at being downright playful and eccentric one moment, and then sound most introspective and heartfelt the next.
This is a great album, and I'd argue an outstanding album when sizing it up to the MOR artists currently dominating both the alternative and adult contemporary musical landscapes presently. I surely hope this album has some legs in the United States, because it would be tragic seeing this third-time charm only manage a Gold certification.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton
