I can't believe they're releasing this. I really, really can't. Diane's peak as a songwriter is long since past. Totally disagree...Diane still puts out more records worldwide then any other commercial songwriter in the business. She has one of the biggest hits out right now on the mainland of China, new records in Germany, and of course new songs out in the US from Joss Stone, The Pussycat Dolls, and now Carrie Underwood. Sure, she hasn't had any big radio hits as of late, but just remember how long it took for Mariah Carey to get back on track at radio. When the time is right, and everything comes together...Diane will have another radio hit. Hopefully with "Some Hearts." :)

There is a difference here....Faith and LeAnn were shunned for releasing pop sounding records to Country radio. Once they released something Country again, they were welcomed back with open arms. Carrie is releasing a pop song to pop radio. Give me an example similiar to this where the artist took at hit from Country radio? I was just gonna make this point. LeAnn released songs like "Life Goes On" to country radio, when they aren't country songs. Faith did the same with "Cry", when both artists could have sent different songs to different formats, and had a better chance at succeeding. Thats why Carrie stands a chance. She's sending country songs to country radio and pop songs to pop radio.

Is it just me , or does this have an 80s/early90s sound to it? The song is from the late 80s. It has actually been recorded at least twice previously. Marshall Crenshaw recorded it in 1989 on an album called Good Evening. It was also sung by Kelly Levesque on the America's Sweethearts soundtrack in 2001.

If "You'll Think Of Me" and "Live Like You Were Dying" can go top 40 on CHR, this can go top 10. This has no country in it though.. And I'm mad they aren't releasing this to Country just to give them a slap on the face.

I'm sorry, but this is awful. 'Jesus Take the Wheel' should be her only single. This takes away from the strength of that as a single and actually makes me think twice now about buying the album.

It's not bad, but I wish they stuck with targeting the country audiences first before she went to pop.

My first impression of the song was "Way too 80's" until I listened to the whole thing, she puts a modern spin on it makes it interesting. I really enjoy Diane's work but some of the lyrics seemed cheesy to me, but you overlook that when you hear Carrie put her soul into this song.
I don't see this song being #1 on mainstream but I do see it in the Top 10, best of luck to Carrie.

Poor Carrie, she doesn't even get an original song for her first single; she has to release a remake. Sorry, but this shouldn't be an issue. The song was never released and an overwhelming majority of pop music fans have never heard it. Carrie found the song and wanted to record it. That’s really all that matters. It’s the perfect song for her, and the lyrics are just as relevant now as they were the day the song was written. The label felt it was the perfect song for a fall release and so here it is. No reason to feel sorry for Carrie, she picked out the song and loved it. Plus, this is the best version of the song. Carrie sings the lights out of it.

This song has really grown on me today, I hope it does well. The first few seconds remind me so much of Goo Goo Doll's "Better Days," I'm always thinking it is that song and not this.

I was determined not to give Carrie a chance. I heard "Jesus Take The Wheel," and I thought that maybe I could give her a chance, that maybe she was a legitimate talent. I heard this crap and I've reverted back to my old way of thinking. Carrie is the worst Idol ever, and this is the worst Idol lead single ever.
I'm embarrassed for her.

The more and more I hear it, I think this song has a huge shot at being a hit. Arista seems to be very excited about the song and is ready to promote the hell out of it. The record is bound to test very well with the all important female 25-34 demographic, which should be enough to get in on daytime mainstream radio. The strength of the song in my opinion is the syncopation. Ironically, I think it sounds a bit like the drums used in Kelly Clarkson’s hit “Since You’ve Been Gone,” especially at the beginning. Teens usually react well to songs with a strong bass line so hopefully this one makes a connection with the majority of young pop radio listeners. The hook is quite compelling and Carrie is already a household name among the format’s listeners. All the ingredients are in place for a big hit here…I just pray to God that it all comes together. :)

Her vocals don't fit the beat and the instrunmental part of the song.

To the person who said this is the worst lead single ever, the charts aren't agreeing, a week before it's release "Some Hearts" debuts on the CHR/Pop Charts at #116.
And the "worst idol ever" goes up to #25 on Country charts with JTTW, and #47 on iTunes after the song has been on for only one day. She's the highest riser on Country charts, and although "Some Hearts" isn't a great song lyrically she makes it worth listening to, and from preliminary chart numbers it looks like it won't do that bad.

I guess that makes it the best lead single ever, huh? #116 Top Smash. Carrie sure has a major achievement under her belt. And the "worst idol ever" goes up to #25 on Country charts with JTTW, and #47 on iTunes after the song has been on for only one day. This is the Pop Board, not the Country Board. When the two mingle, destruction ensues.

I love this song! It will be a good test for Carrie on Pop. Her country single is becoming a hit, so I don't think she has anything to loose anyway.

very Diana DeGarmo. it's ok. I think it'll just barely scrape the pop chart since "inside your heaven" actually managed to chart.
Diane Warren has written some good stuff, but she hasn't had a US hit since "Can't Fight the Moonlight". this isn't her best work...apparently this song has been going around various artists since 1989, so it appears that 19 is back to their song recycling ways. dumb. oh well, at least Fuller isn't making her cover Rachel Stevens songs: "Sweet Dreams my Checotah Ex" anybody?
in the music news thread, it was said that this might be getting a quiet release around the holidays to inform the teenage girls who voted for Carrie that don't listen to country radio that she has an album coming out, with a slightly more pop appropriate song. after those sales are maxmized out, that's it, but she prolly won't get a video for this. Arista is getting greedy...it's hard enough for most Idols to get one format to accept and play them, and Carrie's already got two.
FWIW, I didn't exactly like Carrie most of the time on the show, but her two songs are actually making me think about buying the album. Probably not the first week b/c I need to get the new Madonna and Mariah, but after that.

Yup #116 and not yet released, a sign of good things to come.
And someone posted this is her first single, it's not her first single was IYH.
