So I'm guessing that rumored push for SH by the label didnt happen this week, if it doesn't happen next week it's probably going to flop.

Why pushing TRT has anything to do with SH? But they did the good job though cuz they made TRT the 2nd most adds this week. I thought her BMA performance will help the radio picking up her song, but it wasn’t. It really needs new spins now before it’s too late. Hopefully, it's such a refreshing song!!

Carrie Underwood is on her way to her first chart appearance at Adult Top 40 as "Some Hearts" is the week's No. 1 Chart Bound track. Check out the other songs making their way onto the charts at every format, and which stations have them in significant rotation.

^^I still don't get it why it's losing spins so many yesterday? ??? or this is because the radio introduced TRT? man..this idol airplay is kind of stink imo.

Hopefully, it's such a refreshing song!! there's only a certain amount of promotion money to go around. Carrie's already selling well and doing great on country, so they might have wanted to push Bo's song so he could do well. also, there seems to be this thing Pop has about only playing a handful of songs from American Idol people at once. Kelly was first and she's basically exempt, but everyone outside of her has had it rough. "8th World Wonder" by Kimberley Locke and "Invisible" by Clay Aiken are the only non-Kelly songs to go top 20 on pop. I don't expect "Some Hearts" to do very well at all on this format, but IMO she doesn't need pop to be successful. On another note, the original singer of this song, Kelly Levesque, is now a Pussycat Doll (not the ones with an album, the ones with the troupe in Las Vegas). Just thought that was funny.

Kelly Levesque is a Pussycat Doll in Vegas?? LOL!! Actually, one of the dolls(w/ the album) look A LITTLE BIT like Carrie too. yea when Kelly C was releasing Thankful, she was so well received on the pop radio. I guess the AI thing is now old. Pop radio isn't crazy about AI anymore..

Promotion for this song has been very poor. I know of at least 6 stations that weren’t serviced the song. I think BMG is more spending the majority of its mainstream promotional dollars on “Just Feel Better” and “The Real Thing.” I have a feeling they are Clive’s preferred projects at pop, especially since Carrie is selling so well without strong support from this format. I still hope they give it one more push like they were planning to. It’s too good of a song to just let slip away. :(

I'd hate to see this flop, I have a couple things I want to bring across to her label if possible. I'm going to try on Monday if things don't start picking up.

Wouldn't promotion for something that's already selling well make it sell even better as opposed to sinking money into something that may not recoup costs?

The promotion for Just Feel Better is either nonexistent or not effective at all because it looks like it wont do anything.

I didn't expect this song to be much of a hit. And it doesn't need to be, Carrie's selling well and has lots of Country support.

Believe it or not TRT actually has more adds than SH in the first week..and perhaps Just Feel Better?. I want Bo to do well, but I hate TRT with a passion. However he needs this more than Carrie. Carrie is darn lucky cuz she's country. Otherwise, Clive would single handedly screw her career just like he did to Diana. Seriously, Clive needs to think about the retirement..

However he needs this more than Carrie. Agreed, Bo does need it more. I wouldn't even know he had a cd coming out if I didn't follow this stuff. I don't know whether it's the fault of Clive and the label, or whether radio just refuses to play these Idols. I guess Country is more accepting with Carrie and Josh Gracin. Like someone said above, Kelly is the only one who has truly been accepted here.

probably both. SH is #1 most request on my top40 station 7 days in a row this week, and I guess it's flopping.

If my station counted towards the pop chart I'd request this song like it was my life mission.

i little disappointed on how the song is doing. It sounds like a bona-fide hit. they really should back this song better and release a video for it.

Well, Hot AC (adult Top 40) seems to be sort of embracing it as it debuted there at #36 this past week... but CHR/Pop as it has done with SO MANY songs the past couple of years just REFUSES to play another pop song! Anna Nalick, Sheryl Crow, Rob Thomas, Bon Jovi... I could go on and on... with the artists that should have had top 40 hits but aren't due to the current discrimination against Pop/Rock songs at the format...
The CHR/Pop format is in serious trouble in my opinion... How can a straight ahead pop song like "I'm Feeling You" barely get to the top 40 (peaked at #39)??? It got to #6 at Hot AC... You see this kind of thing A LOT these days... songs doing VERY well at HOT AC, while struggling to make the Top 50 or Top 40... Even pop staples like the Backstreet Boys are having trouble at CHR/Pop, as is Madonna...
In summary... the CHR/Pop format is a BIG MESS right now...

^^I agreed. Pop radio tirelessly play hip hop/R&B/rap music, but quickly close the door for alternative or standard pop even though the songs themselves are good. On the other hand, I still think pop format do give new artists a chance unlike country or rock format. I think Natasha Bedingfield is doing well on CHR/POP. I love Natasha. She’s a Brit. I love Unwritten, but I don’t think it’s a better song than Some Hearts. I personally think Some Hearts album or even Anna Nalick’s debut are a lot better than Natasha’s. So I guess it depends on promotion too. We’ll see how Natasha will perform on there when she releases the second album. The pop radio used to play Sheryl Crow, Rob Thomas, Avirl Lavinge, Shania, Faith, etc, but now you barely see these artists on the chart. Fortunately, Carrie has the nice strong reception on country radio. As much as I hate to see this song flop, I think the sucess on CHR/POP is just a matter of time. I hope her label doesn’t give up on Carrie yet. :)

CHR/pop won't even give the song a chance. Hot AC is the only way to go and I think it could do really well. It's in a 3-way tie for #1 on my local Hot AC station and #16 on the CHR/pop station... but I'm in Carrie's home state, so we're a little biased. It looks like only a handful of Hot AC stations are playing it so far. Hopefully the record company will start promoting it again in a week or two after they're done with Bo.

Too bad this is a more or less flop on Pop, but it's off to a good start on AC, so hopefully it does well there.

I'm not that surprised that this didn't do anything at pop. If Carrie does get some pop play it should be considered a bonus, cause the real focus is at country radio with her and of right now she has a top 5 hit there.
I agree that this might still see some Hot AC play though. I'm in Canada but my station has picked it up and I think a bunch of other CHUM station shave too.
The answer to that is pretty simple. The song stunk. And also, Pop is a format aimed at the under 24 crowd. Of the people who bought the new Santana record, I can't imagine many of them being under 24.

Yeah... top 5 country... only 4 more spots to go!!! I don't know if she's gonna get to #1 in Canada though as I saw she just got passed by an even faster rising song last week... As for the Santana/Michelle Branch song, I guess we will just have to respectfully disagree with each other... I guess us Carrie Fans can't agree on EVRYTHING, huh?
