^^I agreed. Pop radio tirelessly play hip hop/R&B/rap music, but quickly close the door for alternative or standard pop even though the songs themselves are good. On the other hand, I still think pop format do give new artists a chance unlike country or rock format. I think Natasha Bedingfield is doing well on CHR/POP. I love Natasha. She’s a Brit. I love Unwritten, but I don’t think it’s a better song than Some Hearts. I personally think Some Hearts album or even Anna Nalick’s debut are a lot better than Natasha’s. So I guess it depends on promotion too. We’ll see how Natasha will perform on there when she releases the second album. The pop radio used to play Sheryl Crow, Rob Thomas, Avirl Lavinge, Shania, Faith, etc, but now you barely see these artists on the chart. Fortunately, Carrie has the nice strong reception on country radio. As much as I hate to see this song flop, I think the sucess on CHR/POP is just a matter of time. I hope her label doesn’t give up on Carrie yet. :) Carrie has some disadvantages to Pop that Natasha doesn't; namely that 1) she comes from American Idol, and pop radio is notorious for basically not wanting to play any of them that aren't Kelly Clarkson; while other genres aren't as biased, and 2) she's a country singer, even if it's a pop song, and they don't do well on pop these days either. Of course, Natasha has her own issue of being a foreign/British pop act which is also hard to break here, but her label is probably also putting their focus on promoting her to Pop (with possibly some Hot AC on the side), while Carrie's label is probably mainly using their resources to promote her to country radio, which I think is smart. "Jesus Take The Wheel" is top 5 there, and I think radio promotion for "Some Hearts" would only get it top 20 at most...it's just not worth it.

That’s right. promotion is the case plus the double/triple standard they’re using. I’m rooting for Natasha at the very beginning. I know she isn't on the easy road. Whoever are from UK and able to success here make me happy anyway. However, so many great pop songs not only SH that fail on the CHR/Pop, and of course, it doesn’t hurt Carrie since her root is country. I feel the same with Natasha because she’s very popular in UK, so the success here is just the bonus but I’ll be very happy if Unwritten cracks the top 10. Same with Robbie Williams, do I need to care if he will have a hit in US? I still hope pop stations play more variety of songs though. Cuz when you saw Chris Brown’s “Run It” at #1 Hot100 a couple weeks BEFORE his album was released, and now you see his album dropping like a brick. It’s just pathetic imo.

Any word on the official release to the radio stations? If you're asking for the official top 40 "add" date for "Some Hearts", that was several weeks ago... I forget the date off hand...

So I guess this did nothing at all? Correct. But, with a little promotion, it might resurge after the holiday season, though I highly doubt it.

So I guess this did nothing at all? Got to 53 at Mediabase... and 33 at Hot AC and still climbing... I doubt it's going to have a 2nd life at CHR/Pop... but it may go top 30 at Hot AC and perhaps it will get a shot at AC now that it's December 26th...

They were barely promoting this, they're more focused on JTTW which is about to reach #1 on country.

Been trying to figure that out too... Bo isn't Country... but whatever... maybe they figure since Carrie is having some success there that some CMT AI fans will be intersted in Bo enough to check it out...

Bo came across as Southern Rock on the show. He might appeal to some of the Country audience who like Lynard Skynard, Montgomery Gentry, etc.
Although I don't get the connection between Bo on CMT and the label not promoting this song lol.

JMO, if they commit on promoting her on mainstream, Carrie will be unstoppable!!! I think Bo should do Keith Urban kind of music instead of Backstreet Boy!!

I heard this song on a small market HotAC station today. It's a good song but Carrie really oversings in a few places. Again, it's on okay song but since America supports anything related to AI, I guess it will be a hit. I like her first single better.

I love the song, I think her voice is great on it, but I don't think it's "pop single" material. It's a perfect album song. I think there are better songs she could put out that would do better, although that is not to denigrate the song, it's just that some songs are single material and some aren't- it doesn't mean it's not a great song.

Carrie's up a spin this week at CHR/Pop as of today...
At Hot AC though, she's up 91 spins and is now up to 25 stations on... she's gotten about 8 Hot AC adds since Christmas!

I guess that means we might see the second country single released first while SH continues to rise in the charts. Then perhaps in between the second and third country singles the 2nd pop one will be released for adds.

That sounds like an accurate assessment... gonna guess that "Wasted" will probably go for adds right around Valentine's Day... assuming "Jesus, Takes The Wheel" has a 3 week run at the top of the Country charts...

^^ If they stick to this pattern then a 3rd single could be out by May/June. Then the final single by October/November. Then perhaps a new album by the middle/late next year.

I'm thinking maybe June 1st or 8th or so for "Before He Cheats"... which would be right during the heart of baseball season... nice time to get that Louisville Slugger out, huh??? Arista/19 should be able to milk that baseball thing for all it's worth over the summer... the promotion opportunires will be almost endless... and even radio stations can give away baseball tickets when the song is going on... I don't think BHC is going to need any help getting to the top of the Country charts though...
