2009: Fourth Album: Posted by Kedrew on October 5th, 2008 On October 4th 2008 in an interview with All Music, Rihanna confirmed that she is currently in the studio working on her fourth studio album. She stated that.
“I’m currently working on record number four and I’m having so much fun. I’m having so many new experiences and meeting so many new people, it’s amazing”.
Rihanna also stated that the album will head in a more Techno Rock direction saying,
“I want this album to head in the same direction as Good Girl Gone Bad but with even more edge. The tracks will be less R&B influenced and will have a feel closer to that of, Disturbia, Shut Up & Drive and Breakin’ Dishes”.
Rihanna also stated that she will be writing 3 tracks of the album herself and that they are quite different from her previous work and also stated that one of the tracks will fit into the punk-rock category”. She is also studying for a new and more even hot look. A release date for the album has not yet been announced, but it’s probably that it will came out in early 2009 (March/April period) UltimateRihanna:http://rihannadaily.com/

Rihanna? Punk Rock? A mohawk, crazy eye makeup and dominatrix outfits do not a punkrocker make...Also, we see how well SUAD did so if I were her, I would stick closer to BD and Disturbia.

She has the ability to be about as punk as Avril and we know what that means...YAY for Rihanna's version of Girlfriend and calling it punk-rock! Breaking Dishes still sounded urban/pop to me as did Disturbia. Hell, even Umbrella has electric guitars, LOL. Those songs are as punk as I need her to be.

well shut up & drive was a pop/rock so a PUNK rock song would defetnetly be very different breakin dishes is actually far from urban what are you talking about ? thats an electro-pop song as far for disturbia thats a techno-pop so where are u hearing the "urban"? & the only urban thing about umbrella was jay-z's part & i believe in Rihanna so i do think she can pull off a punk rock song she just needs the right ideas and inspiration

No nu music until Summer 2009. Take a break. Take a bow. Have sex passionate sex with Chris brown on some priavte island. Do somethin--just don't release anything nu until summer 2009. A 4-5 month break from RiRi is perfect! No too little, not too long!

Not good. Sure majority of her hits are pop but ditching the urban audience is a bad move which goes without saying. Unless she has songs like Umbrella that are rock infused and somehow still manage to crossover.......this comes just as Live Your Life is going to be a big urban hit....

LOL, clearly this girl (or her management, that is) doesn't comprehend the concept of taking a break. She's such a workhorse, kind of remind me of Mariah in the 90's. Take a rest, girl! Anyway, I'm loving the supposedly edgier direction she's taking. Although "punk-rock" doesn't sound too promising.

I bet by "punk rock" she means something along the lines of "So What" and "Hot N Cold" which isn't too much of a stretch for Rihanna, IMO, while still being different.

Well, by that time it'll be 2 years since GGGB so I'm not surpised.
