Not sure how to read the above. Where are Tim and Rodney in this calculation? I would have thought RF and Carrie would go up ahead of them, but at least Rodney would have a good shot to follow them to 31. But maybe you're assuming Rodney goes up first. Actually, I had blocked Rodney from my mind. You're right...I should have put Rodney with Tim as someone who might follow Flatts to #1.

Don't know how to measure the chances of John Rich's song but I doubt it will get there. his is the most unpredictable song, but it seems like i'm the only one who's thinking it will spend multiple weeks at the top (3 maybe?). i don't even know if tim will make it to #1....i could see him peaking out at 2 or 3 with all the competition that will be in the top 10......similar to when "if you're reading this" got stuck in the middle of some great songs a while back.

It's hard to guess how long an album's 7th single is going to stay in the top 10. You don't have a huge number of other 7th singles to compare it to. I could look up Shania's 7th but I'm too lazy.

"Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore)" was the 7th from The Woman in Me, and it got #28 and down in 14 weeks. "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" was the 7th country release from Come On Over and it had a fairly typical #4 run (not an incredible flameout like "Meanwhile", another #4 from the same era).

Wow i would have thought "Man I Feel Like a Woman" was a #1 based on how much they still play it on the radio...LoL
How many songs did Shania end up releasing from Come on Over...like 10?
I remember that Tim had at least 6 singles from his Everywhere CD.

Thank you for the Shania info. I have a vague memory that Mary-Chapin Carpenter had a 7-single album -- even though it sounds unlikely -- and her 7th song was either I Take My Chances or He Thinks He'll Keep Her, and either way that would mean a #2 song with single number 7. There are plenty of 6-single albums out there, but not so many 7's.
I apologize for hijacking the thread. Returning it to topic, RF is not acting like it wants to beat Carrie, Tim, and Rodney to the top but I still think they will do exactly that.
By the way, your song parody was very well done, Hammer.

^Come On Come On had seven singles, of which the last was indeed "I Take My Chances" at #2. Then she had her only #1 with "Shut Up and Kiss Me", followed by a #6 and then the bottom fell out.

Additional info about 7th singles; Heartbreak Town went to #23 as the 7th single off of the Dixie Chicks' "Fly".

Alan Jackson also had six singles from his 'Everything I Love' masterpiece, and four of those songs (There Goes/Between The Devil And Me/Who's Cheatin' Who?/Little Bitty) reached #1 @ R&R.
The fact that 'HCG' has needed a mere five weeks to clear the entire Mediabase/Country Aircheck panel of 123 stations is alao very impressive; it was just three years ago that 'What Hurts The Most' needed exactly two weeks to do likewise enroute to winding up #1 for the year at Country Aircheck/Mediabase in 2006.

Ugh, I really wish the video went with the song. Another What Hurts The Most making the song about death when it's not.

did someone die somewhere in the song? I've got two possible bluffs here. Take your pick. A. At least one program director, after jabbing an ice pick through his ear. B. Only Rascal Flatts' artistic credibility.

I like the first verse and chorus of this song, but after that it goes downhill. I wish that they would release something similar to I'm Movin' On. That was a masterpiece.

I love the video. It was really unexpected the concept they came up with b/c obviously when you listen to the song, you assume it's about love lost. But after seeing the video, the song fits there too. Kinda like what Jim Brickman/Martina McBride did with "Valentine."
Very cool! :)

A really good video. I take it the father and son are dead and the daughter is coming to see her mother and there graves. I'm hanging on how they died. I suppose fell through the ice or something. The song reads like a love breakup song though.

"I can hear the truck tires coming up the gravel road And its not like her to drive that slow, nothings on the radio Footsteps on the front porch, I hear my doorbell She usually comes right in, now I can tell
Here comes goodbye..."
with how the song starts, i just don't get how it can relate to the video... ???

If you listen to one of the live performances of this on YouTube, it's actually not bad because Gary is restrained and doesn't belt out everything after the first verse/chorus. If only they had come up with that concept in the studio...

After listening to the song by itself more closely and watching the video there could be many interpretations of the song but Rascal Flatts would have discussed the meaning of the song with the original song writers Chris Sligh and whoever else and they would have explained what the song was about. Maybe some people here are just misinterpreting the song because I have done that before with numerous songs only to figure out later that the song means something else.

The song itself is definitely not about death. The lyrics speak for themselves. I think they were just trying to be creative with the video and the only thing that worked in it was the gorgeous scenery.

i did not understand the video at all, who were the characters? how were they related? who died? just totally confusing... The older man is the woman's dad and the little boy is her son. The older woman who comes with her to the grave is her mom. Both the father and the little boy died. Based on the dialogue, it appears the little boy died well before his grandfather. There is also speculation on the fan club that this is the same family that was featured in the WHTM video, just years later. In that video, the boyfriend died and it was insinuated that the girl might have been pregnant. In this video, it appears that the little boy didn't have a father figure, which is what's fueling this fire. I personally disagree with that though.

I had where him saying he wanted to see her with her daddy by her side as him wanting to marry her but them breaking up.
