UK synth pop duo (Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid). They finished at #5 in BBC's Sound of 2009 poll. They're signed to Polydor. Their debut single "Quicksand" was released on December 15, with "In For The Kill" and "Bulletproof" following in March and May respectively. The album should be out in June. They are influenced by: Michael Jackson, Prince, David Bowie, The Knife, Justice, Eurythmics, Sebastien Tellier, Tears for Fears, The Faint, Blondie, CLOR, Postal Service, Human League, Chaka Khan, Depeche Mode, Kitsune, Gary Numan, Hot Chip, The Cure, Mr Oizo, Blancmange, SebastiAn, Talk Talk, Doris Troy, Tom Vek, CSS, George Michael, Yazoo, Boys Noize, Joni Mitchell, early Madonna, Chromeo, TEPR, Heaven 17. A few songs: "Fascination""Reflections Are Protections""In For The Kill""Tigerlily" (snippet)And the video for "Quicksand": www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMBNZ6mDSYkThey totally sound like a modern version of Yazoo to me. I can't wait!

The official video for 'In For The Kill' has been released:
The cover makes sense now - she clearly loves her car, and driving in it.

Looove the cover. Very excited for this. 'IFTK' was the perfect lead single.

"In For The Kill" wasn't her debut single. But yes, that is a HOT cover.

I'm not particularly mad about IFTK but Skream's take on it does the deed. Looking forward to this.

This is now #4 in the UK (with a chart run 11-11-7-4)
And now, it's #2 in the Midweeks! Insane :o

Awesome! They should so totally push the album up to the beginning of May. That would likely extend its shelf life, as they would release it after the lead single and not after the follow-up as it is planned.

Well Bulletproof could be much bigger, as that was supposed to be the real single, with In For The Kill only being the heater. Especially as it lacks some of Elly's shrillness that has divided quite a lot of people.

She was REALLY good when she was supporting Lily Allen!
Her songs were amazingly catchy! In For The Kill, Bulletproof and I'm Not Your Toy are my favourites!

I think they have a brilliant enough band name to get away with a self titled album.

"Quicksand" always brings "When Doves Cry" to mind. Is it just me?
I'm eager to check this out, but I must say her voice can get slightly grating after a while.
