I've been listening to their album non stop this weekend. Haven't really decided if I just like it or love it, but I definitely love the singles! Bulletproof is my favorite, I really like I'm Not Your Toy (which I guess is the next single according to Wiki..)
I really love the artwork for this project, especially the singles. Really authenticates their whole 80s synthpop style. I always love UK singles/album cover art, so much more creative than US covers.

Yeah, I'd add that to the list as well. And I might get to see them at a festival in August as well, should I decide to go. Not to rub it in, or anything. ;) Oh it's cool, I will absolutely be going to see them in Oct once tickets are released... Might go for Little Boots and Flo + The Machine as well. 2009 really is a year for women! Which festival, btw? Oh I'd love to see Boots. But I have settle for the ones who cross the ocean, ahah. And the festival is Osheaga! www.osheaga.com, if you'd like to check the line up and encourage me to go. ;)

Gave this album a spin yesterday while I was helping my bf cook. I'll have to give it another go when it's more than background music. Right now I'm having a tough time getting into Elly Jackson's voice.

I've given it further listens and it is now one of my favourites of 2009 thus far. I was anticipating it madly as IFTK and Bulletproof are two of my obsessions, but I didn't expect it to be this good. I thought it would be The Ting Tings all over again--two good singles and the rest being tired reitirations. But nah, this album has a truckload of good tracks and quite a few more potential hit singles. On the subject of single choices, I do question why INYT is the fourth single. It's nowhere near the quality of IFTK or B and could seriously hinder momentum. I am aware that none of the other tracks match either of them two in quality-terms, but Tigerlily or Fascination would fare better in my opinion at this moment in time. Howver, I do think Cover My Eyes is stronger than either of those two, but it doesn't really seem fitting to this time of the year and would definitely have more of an impact in the colder months i.e. October or November.

They're doing great! Well done Elly & Ben. Bought the album yesterday; so far, I'm very pleased with it and I adore the artwork--they have such spell-binding covers. Obv, 'Bulletproof' is the best track, followed by 'In For The Kill' and 'Tigerlily'.

Liking the album a little more on second listen. I'm still not in love but I'm quite fond of "As If By Magic."

Misses out #1 in the UK to MJ. And after stuff like this I'm rather pleased. Although I wonder what the fall out will be - could La Rude come out and diss Michael now? Let's hope. :o

Took a while for it to sink in and adjust to Jackson's voice but I'm currently loving the album now.

Setting aside all qualms as regards her [mis]demeanor, Bulletproof is awesome. I have yet to listen to the album though.

Damn, I need to buy this album. I really, really like it (and Phil, "Tigerlily" has grown on me quite a bit ), but I can't unapologetically love it (yet?) because, let's face it, the production could have been tighter on a number of songs.

Everyone says that. I disagree. Sure she's not the best-looking girl, but she's not hideous to the eyes and repulsive--she's just very average.

We want a whole essay on La Roux, girl! ;) I haven't gotten a chance to listen to her album sadly. I've heard a couple of her singles: In For The Kill, Bulletproof and Quicksand however I haven't been able to listen to her full album since I am not off the U.K. persuasion. I tried hunting down a few download links but alas I couldn't find any good ones. Why can't she just be like Little Boots and upload her album to Myspace and be done with it.

It was released yesterday in Canada!!! I didn't know. :( I walked in HMV today and 'As If By Magic' was playing so I ran to the new releases section and THERE IT WAS IN ALL ITS GLORY.
Physical copy ftw.

I love Quicksand, but it's been hard for me to get into the rest of the album. I think a lot of the song sound very similar, so after burning Quicksand out it's been hard to get into any of the others.

Although I haven't burned off of Quicksand it is the only song I've liked from her out of the three I have heard. Although "Bulletproof" has been growing on me.

I tried hunting down a few download links but alas I couldn't find any good ones. Are you sure? I grabbed a 320 kb/s quality right after the album leaked. Now, a few weeks later, I'm pretty sure it's even easier to find one. Try harder. (Hint: google) ;) Anyway, this album just keeps growing on me. Sure, on the first listen, the songs all kind of run together, but a few more listens reveal an album with enough depth and variety that merit even more repeated listens. Exactly the traits I look for from a mainstream album.

Yeah - the production can be somewhat similar on most tracks at first, but the more you listen, the more they reveal have their own little melody, their own emotion. It's really just a killer record.
