The only time AIWFC will be played is during the holidays, while IWALY will be getting played year round. And yet I still come across AIWFC on the radio dial more frequently. What's that about? I'd like to know this too. *shrugs*

I've never heard "I Will Always Love You" on the radio. :( You clearly aren't listening to enough smooth AC. What the fuck is your problem?

Must be because Whitey is not only a local faagg by cuntry, but by format as well. :'(
"All I Want For Christmas Is You" is iconic amongst my British friends. Therefore Mariah wins. :whitneyshesthatdruggyonefromxfactorright:

Oh I don't know, maybe because it's a holiday song.
Silly Mariah fans thinking a Christmas song that's only played at the end of the year can compete with IWALY on a popularity scale when it's clear IWALY shiiits on AIWFC

Don't disregard and instead take into account the few posts above commenting on how infrequently each poster involuntarily hears IWALY. What is clear though is how unfit you are to compare the two songs given your obvious bias.

I don't know how old most of the posters are on here, but Whitney's version of "I Will Always Love You" was played on the radio ALL THE TIME back in 1992 and 1993 when it was on the charts, and no, not just on Adult AC or whatever one poster said, all the Top 40 stations were playing it in incredibly heavy rotation. Something kept it at #1 for 14 weeks on the Hot 100. It had incredible sales and incredible airplay at the same time, it was a bonefide, mega monster hit, probably the biggest of Whitney's career.
I'm not denying that AIWFCIY may be played on the radio much more these days, especially at Christmas time LOL, but IWALY was literally EVERYWHERE back in the early 90's.

IWALY is more popular than AIWFCIY? I know for a fact most of my friends don't even know what IWALY is.

I think both 'AIWFC' and 'IWALY' are still very much remembered. I actually think both sides are discrediting each song. 'IWALY' is, like, the ballad, and 'AIWFC' is the biggest (if not the only) modern Christmas classic. FACT. Dolly's IWALY >>>>>> Whitney's IWALY Well that's a matter of opinion and it's one I and most people happen to disagree with. Maybe it's time for you to interact with some friends with a wider music knowledge.

^Exactly, repent. I don't even understand the whole debate. IWALY and AIWFC are both important for different reasons.

I think she is just barely relevant. I think once she releases another flop album, she will no longer be relevant to the Pop music world. She will always be relevant in the AC world of music, IMO. this one more flop album and she'll join Janet.

AIWFC isn't. If you don't like it, take it up with Mediatraffic and the ppl who made IWALY the success that it is. And IWALY is played quite frequently on American radio: www.yes.com/#Whitney_HoustonAIWFC is not: www.yes.com/#Mariah_CareyA song that is played year round will be more well known than a song that's only played during the holidays. That's not biased, that's common sense. ???

An example of your blatant bias wouldn't go further than referring to Mariah Carey as MooMoo, and then we have that opulent posting history of yours to solidify that claim; but I digress. You appear to be fixated with the common sense card and I believe AIWFC's title establishes exactly what time of the year it receives the bulk (or entirety) of its airplay so you can just pack that away for good. The most successful song and/or the second most successful song are undefined; I'm sure this is very difficult to stomach so consolation sessions are available via pm. It also doesn't provide anyone basis for appreciating a song anymore than one deems necessary. You, on the other hand, are dead set on the opposite. As I asked earlier, take into account the empirical evidence on display in this exact thread. Other posters, beside yourself but including me, have stated how rarely they'll come across IWALY on their respective radio dials. You're free to disregard each & every post that concludes AIWFC as the more lasting and/or impactful of the pair but you're not going to change anyone's mind.

When AIWFCIY gets played outside of the Holiday season, sells 8 million copies on its own, wins records and song of the year at the Grammys, and has people screaming hysterically when singing the first verse of the song, then we can talk. IWALY >>>>> AIWFCY. AIWFCIY is a huge Christmas song, but it will never be on IWALY's level. Get real lambs. Oh what do you know, IWALY just got requested on a popular Rhythmic station out here right now. A station that plays Rihanna, Lady Gaga, etc. and here is Whitney with IWALY right now. Too ironic. :)

^Christmas classic are Christmas classics forever. Bing's "White Christmas" and Judy's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" would be perfect examples. LMAO. Exactly! Thank you PDC.

This sounds like nothing more than a troubled child's diary entry. Girl get the hell over it. IWALY is the second most successful song of all time. AIWFC is not. IWALY was #1 for 14 weeks on the Hot 100. AIWFC was not. IWALY gets airplay year round. AIWFC does not. IWALY is covered on every singing competition around the world. AIWFC does not. IWALY was #1 on the world chart for like 22 weeks. AIWFC was not. IWALY propelled The Bodyguard to selling over 40 million copies. AIWFC did not. IWALY will be played and covered for years to come. AIWFC will not. Again, if you don't like it, take it up with Billboard and Mediatraffic. Blame iTunes for selling the single. Blame Arista for shipping out the physical single and the public buying it. I'm not here to argue the facts. You can have you opinions, that's fine. But facts will always outweigh opinions. Get the point? Good. Let's dance.
