- Too Good's top 10 chances are pretty much done now that it is falling on radio... unless the movie exclusive can boost it although I don't know if it's even included as I haven't watched it. If someone else can assure this, that'd be great.
Too Good is not part of the exclusive, unfortunately. The vid only included One Dance (with Kyla) and Controlla.

Since it's kinda quiet here, trivia time!
In 1961, Patsy Cline's "I Fall to Pieces" set the record for the highest-peaking position on the Year-End Hot 100 by a non top 10 single by finishing at #2. The song peaked at #12 and stayed on the charts for 20 weeks. It was the second longest during that year, only behind the Year-End #1 song "Tossin' and Turnin'" by Bobby Lewis which remained for 23 weeks. The song still holds the record to this day.
In 1998, Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait" (the theme song of TV series Dawson's Creek) tried to match the feat by ending at #10 on the Year-End Hot 100, despite peaking only at #11. The song stayed in the Hot 100 for a massive 56 weeks.

So it's official! Niall Horan's "This Town" is currently #1 on iTunes. Do you think his song will make it to the Year-End with 7 weeks to spare?

It happened in 2009 too? Man. I thought I found a needle in a stack of hay. But I guess I didn't. I honestly never thought that so many artists could get 2 songs in the Top 25 at the same time. It's probably gonna happen in 2016 as well. It happens a lot actually. Here was 2013: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (#1, #5) Justin Timberlake (#6, #20, #22 as feature) Bruno Mars (#8, #11) Miley Cyrus (#17, #18) Jay Z (#22, #20 as feature) Then 2012, we had 5: fun. (#3, #14) Maroon 5 (#4, #18) Rihanna (#8, #21, #23 as feature) Flo Rida (#11, #16, #17) Drake (#20, #23) And 2011: Adele (#1, #24) Katy Perry (#3, #4, #14) Bruno Mars (#6, #15) Rihanna (#12, #20) P!nk (#17, #19) Pitbull (#5, #11 as feature) Lil Wayne (#23, #21 as feature) Also 2010: Katy Perry (#4, #17) Usher (#5, #22) B.o.B (#6, #11) Eminem (#7, #24) Lady Gaga (#8, #16) Taio Cruz (#9, #10) Rihanna (#15, #7 as feature) Bruno Mars (#18, #11 & #23 as features) Pitbull (#12 & #22 as features) Last year, we came as close to 3: Fetty Wap (#4, #21) Taylor Swift (#7, #15, #18) The Weeknd (#9, #10, #12)

Send My Love (To Your New Lover) will complete the Year-End Top 25 over Hotline Bling. With its current position of #8 and still on the climbing with its massive airplay, I wouldn't cross it out. Actually it looks like it has peaked in airplay now. I think it'll finish in the 26-30 region on the year-end chart. But it's expected to rise to #6 on next week's charts according to HDD...

"The Hills" by The Weeknd, now on its 21st week in the top 10, is the 69th song in history to score at least 20 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.

61. Stay with Me - Sam Smith. 21 weeks. 62. All About That Bass - Meghan Trainor. 25 weeks. 63. Shake It Off - Taylor Swift. 24 weeks. 64. Take Me to Church - Hozier. 20 weeks. 65. Broccoli! The Top 25-30 is heating up... Who do you think among these songs would close the last 5 spots? Would really appreciate your reply!

How about 679? With Fetty's album sales to be released, it seems it has a big chance to finish Top 30. With Good for You and What Do You Mean in mind, would Hey Mama make it or not?

I know this might be irrelevant for most of you, but 'Thinking Out Loud' is now the 64th song in the history of Hot 100 to spend at least 20 weeks in the top 10.

Whatever happens, Uptown Funk has the Year-End #1 already on its hand. It's only competition now is Party Rock Anthem for the Decade-End #1 spot.

But one thing I'd point out as somehow wrong was Gotye's pavement for the rock scene. Gotye is not rock but indie. Indie had its first taste of mainstream back in 2011 with "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People reaching #3. Then "We Are Young" by Fun followed along with "Somebody That I Used to Know". In hindsight this was a mistake, but I can somewhat explain why I glossed over it. ... The scene has changed; indie and pop rock are quickly becoming the face of this era's rock. But again, it's not quite at that point yet, so I admit I was hasty to tag the current movement as rock. (I swear I don't try to make every post into a mini-essay... ) I completely agree with you on this! Not to mention the controversy in which Lorde was labeled as 'rock' in the VMAs when in fact she is alternative pop. Music keeps on growing and as of today, indie and rock are considered two different genres. Put in mind that acts like Ellie Goulding and Capital Cities are considered indie. Indie is responsible for several cross-over hits (Radioactive, Sail, Ho Hey, Somebody That I Used to Know, Some Nights, Lights, Pompeii); the latter stayed in the Hot 100 for more than 50 weeks. Metal, a completely different genre, is less likely to achieve multiple formats. Still, you have to agree on me about Foster the People. Peaked at #3 within 40 weeks in 2011, rose to fame after widespread attention within radio formats, held responsible for initiating the rise of indie movement in the 2010s... They might not be relevant now, but they did made history. Please do not ignore this. :)

I feel like "Happy" represents a fair number of things for this year in general. ... (2011's Adele helping fuel both the female dominance of 2014, the revival of the minimalist piano-based songs like this year's "All of Me", and the building of the neo-soul movement that I've already covered, and 2012's Gotye paving the way for rock acts finally getting an opening to have success once more like Hozier, Imagine Dragons, and OneRepublic), then there isn't much justification this year in any case. Still, looking back at this essay, it all devolves into a "do I think one deserves it?". Really, it's just the numbers that will decide, though needless to say if they skew one way, then I feel like it matches up well with the context of both this year and the progression of music over these past few years. You could've simply said that "Happy" was more musically inclined and memorable than "Dark Horse" haha. But one thing I'd point out as somehow wrong was Gotye's pavement for the rock scene. Yeah 21 weeks in the top 10 is impressive for Stay With Me, but the year-end uses inverse points not cumulative. Back in 2012, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift had 3 weeks at number one and 13 weeks in the top 10 (12 of those counted in the final tally) but placed #33 in the year-end. Last year, "Sail" by AWOLNATION peaked at no. 17 and spent the whole year in the chart, finishing at #25 in the year-end. Besides, I feel like I'm the only one here who has faith in the accuracy of Daniel's prediction haha. I highly doubt that's true. If it was, there's no way "Harlem Shake" would have had the #4 placement that it did. That was due to the incredible streaming points it had in its first week. You're right! Sorry if I got it confused. There was also "Roar" reaching #10 in the year-end with only 15 weeks to count and "Royals" attaining #15 within 20 weeks. Accumulated points and longevity play central roles in adding up as defined by the article mentioned by Rimetm.Other cases that can be attributed to longevity last year would be "Radioactive" (no. 3 peak) and "Cruise" (no. 4 peak). The latter finished at #3 and #9 respectively.

No it can't. Stay With Me is fixed at #10 and it is obvious by now that Rude and All About That Bass will overrun Problem. maybe on this list, but in reality, "Stay With Me" is likely to finish just below the top 5 in the actual year end list due to its longevity on the Top 10. is been in the top 10 since practically the beginning of the summer. Yeah 21 weeks in the top 10 is impressive for Stay With Me, but the year-end uses inverse points not cumulative. DH doesn't feel like the second-biggest song of the year to me but third-biggest is more like it. Really didn't understand how it was still top 50 after like June but that's just me. Dark Horse is 25 million views short from Roar to be Katy Perry's most viewed video. Reason for this? Dark Horse is still featured at the top of YouTube's Music channel as of now. But I do wish All of Me reaches no. 2.
