UPDATE:
With Closer bound to fall short of the longest top 10 record, The Chainsmokers add Something Just Like This to have three songs in the top 10 and continue their uninterrupted 44 weeks.
LeAnn remains unbothered

The Chainsmokers and Coldplay have just released their new collab "Something Just Like This" and is already going viral in YouTube! At this moment, The Chainsmokers have been on the top 10 for 42 consecutive weeks through their hits "Don't Let Me Down", "Closer", and "Paris". They should be set to hit the minimum 45-week mark to qualify for Billboard's official list soon and here's what's up: 69 WEEKS - Katy Perry (2010-2011) 51 - Drake (2015-2016) 48 - Ace of Base (1993-1994) 46 - Rihanna (2010-2011) 45 - The Weeknd (2015-2016) Ariana, Mariah and Santana fell short to meeting this record. If you're interested to who else almost made it, here's the full list in this thread I made: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/161631/longest-stays-billboard-hot-100

And just like that, The Chainsmokers are number one on iTunes again with Paris.
Also worth mentioning Halsey is at #6.

Tbh Ed Sheeran has always conquered the charts: Thinking Out Loud was the 2015 Year-End #2, Love Yourself was 2016's #1, and as early as this point I can see Shape of You as 2017's top 10 easy. Don't know why some people still question his presence smh

As of this week, Closer is now the 73rd song in history to spend 20 weeks in the top 10! Also The Chainsmokers have now been in the top 10 for 33 consecutive weeks. Full list in this thread: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/161631/longest-stays-billboard-hot-100- Also can you listen to my mashup as well? Is there a thread that lists most consecutive weeks on the Top 40/100? I thought there was one? Thanks! I believe there's none yet. Let's wait then until someone compiles it on a new thread? Would be happy to start one either. And no problemo

As of today, 9 out of Cole's 10 album tracks occupy the Top 10 of Spotify. The other one is currently at #11. Still, all 10 have more than 1.4 million plays. AMAZING

How did Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley chart? I mean I'm glad they did, but don't older songs have to be top 50 to appear? That's why Bowie lost out on getting "Heroes" on the Hot 100 for the first time and Prince likely lost out on "Darling Nikki" appearing. "Thriller" should have appeared this year then too, as it hasn't hit 20 weeks on the Hot 100 yet. Billboard just does whatever they feel like anymore. honestly I have to wonder if this year billboard quietly added a rule that old songs could chart if they've never been on the hot 100 before like it would probably explain why "walking on a dream" charted Exactly. It does not matter if the song is old or not, "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen never appeared on the Hot 100 chart to begin with, so eligibility for entry is more than called for as it is not a re-entry. Also streams play a big factor here (and to get up to #59, it streams must be wow!). Remember that Bowie and Prince do not have their catalogue on streaming services, unlike Cohen which has "Hallelujah" having a major spike on its official YouTube vid. And Thriller might have missed out on the same platform this year to explain its absence as a re-entry.

^ I wish One Dance took over Love Yourself so bad, but I know it won't happen No, the number 1 and 2 positions are Justin's. Is that that first time that happens? If it's Justin is really the king. Yep, The Beatles and Usher did it first: 1964 (The Beatles) #1 - I Want to Hold Your Hand #2 - She Loves You 2004 (Usher) #1 - Yeah! (feat. Lil Jon & Ludacris) #2 - Burn And if we're going by the Top 3, here are the other acts: 1985 (Wham!) #1 - Careless Whisper (feat. George Michael) #3 - Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go 1995 (TLC) #2 - Waterfalls #3 - Creep 2000 (Santana) #2 - Smooth (feat. Rob Thomas) #3 - Maria Maria (feat. The Product G&B) 2009 (Lady Gaga) #2 - Poker Face #3 - Just Dance (feat. Colby O'Donis)

While it's not gonna do much, a lyric video for Starboy has been released. I just love how both Bruno and The Weeknd are working to get that #1, can't wait for their AMA performance gains!

IMO, and hopefully it does, this is how it goes:
Closer (11/19) > Black Beatles (11/26, 12/03) > 24K Magic (12/10) > Starboy (12/17)
That'll be refreshing. A new #1 week after week.

Surprisingly, the first time I found Rae Sremmurd's song tolerable. However, I still don't want this to be next #1. It seems that using Black Beatles in Mannequin challenge is not necessary, so I don't get the sales boost of it. On the contrary, I think the late-80's vibe, Stranger Things-esque beat of Black Beatles is what makes the Mannequin Challenge more authentic. The song was growing anyway even without the challenge
