Just dropping by to say Peso Pluma outdid himself and now currently has 8 songs simultaneously charting at the Hot 100 this week, mostly fueled by streams only:
#5 (+5) - Ella Baila Sola (with Eslabon Armado) (2023) #12 (+5) - La Bebe (with Yng Lvcas) (2023) #32 (+19) - Por Las Noches (2021) #35 (+14) - PRC (with Natanael Cano) (2023) #40 (+13) - AMG (with Gabito Ballesteros and Natanael Cano) (2022) #59 (+28) - El Azul (with Junior H) (2023) #88 (new) - Chanel (with Becky G) (2023) #90 (new) - Igualito A Mi Apa (with Fuerza Regida) (2022)
Pluma is credited as popularizing the genre corridos tumbados in the United States, mixing regional Mexican music with trap/urban elements. He is challenging to break this achievement again next week by possibly charting two more songs as the following debuts in the Bubbling Under Hot 100 this week:
#6 - El Tsurito (with Junior H and Gabito Ballesteros) (2023) #11 - Siempre Pendientes (with Luis R Conriquez) (2022)

We've had several #1s at this point that had little to zero airplay Most of which were one-week wonder debuts or album bombs by popular artists. Not a random song from a fairly niche genre of Latino music that became #1 out of nowhere. Also they generally happened when the #1 scene was fairly weak. LN is much stronger. What youβre failing to notice is that the streaming for Last Night is beginning to slip, and if the point losses from that keep outpacing the radio gains (like the quoted prediction has happening for this tracking week), the threshold to overtake becomes smaller, not bigger. We also donβt know if EBS continues to surge or if it starts to stabilize. I remember We Donβt Talk About Bruno peaked fairly quickly after its surge and trended downward afterwards. Also WDTAB roughly peaked at a roughly similar 39M number that EBS is set to reach this week. If it came out today, it would have been blocked by LN. I beg you please put aside your bias for Morgan and "Last Night", these are just everybody's predictions and observations. Whatever happens, happens. Touch some country grass and stop flooding the threads unnecessarily

I'm pretty sure at this rate, Ella Baila Sola can challenge for #1 as early as the May 13 or May 20 charts even without radio, it's just growing THAT fast. Viva Mexico! π²π½

Can someone explain why regional Mexican/Peso Pluma is so huge right now? Is it different demographics joining streaming or is Peso Pluma just that big of a star? Iβm not hating, this just came out of nowhere and Iβm confused. I believe Peso Pluma has already dethroned Bad Bunny as the most streamed artist in Mexico according to media outlets, and with Pluma being credited as a proponent in the global musical trend of urban corridos along with Natanael Cano, it is not a surprise he is concurrently charting 6 songs this week organically after getting his break just first quarter last year. Even without radio, Ella Baila Sola is growing in streaming numbers everyday so it's something to look forward to in the coming weeks. Also what Bad Bunny and Shakira has taught us is there is a significant number of Spanish listeners in the United States in the streaming era, and Ella Baila Sola is his hit with the most crossover potential yet commercially. Peso Pluma at the Hot 100 on April 22, 2023 10 - "Ella Baila Sola" (with Eslabon Armado) 17 - "La Bebe" (with Yng Lvcas) 49 - "PRC" (with Natanael Cano) 51 - "Por Las Noches" 53 - "AMG" (with Gabito Ballesteros & Natanael Cano) 87 - "El Azul" (with Junior H) He is also expected to chart "Chanel" with Becky G next week.

Reminder that in 2015, Miley surprised released Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (MC5) and did not chart at all at the Billboard 200... Her follow-ups Younger Now (2017) and Plastic Hearts (2020) did not hit #1 either despite decent-charting carrier singles. 100k+ is great for her, kudos.

And it didnβt have the advantage of the weak summer competition. It had to face Taylor, Adele, and the Christmas domination. I don't understand what you're getting at, even if Stay ends up becoming the most-streamed song released in 2021, who cares? Like we'll get there when we get there. Nobody is denying that the song is a huge hit. There's no reason to spam the Hot 100 thread every week trying to prove how big Stay is, "ITS THE BIGGEST HIT OF 2021," like okay. Cool. Β―\_(γ)_/Β― Right, like to me Stay is more likely the "Closer" of 2021 than its "Despacito", if that makes sense

I believe the chart rules are fine, even the recurrency ones. AIWFCIY is hitting 52 weeks this year probably, so it's gonna have a harder time re-entering next year, which is fine. Maybe we'll get the rare week where Brenda Lee charts at like #30 and Mariah isn't there. I think they should lower sales' impact on the formula though. "Butter", the longest running #1 of the year missed top 10 on the year end chart... That will look weird at first glance until people do some research and find out why it even spent more than 1 week at the top. Agreed on this! Butter at #11 was really surprising.

Okay this might be just me, but I find the title "celebrating" with "deceased artists" quite off and appalling. Maybe the word you were looking for was "remembering" or "commemorating".

You still have provided exactly 0 reasons as to why it is "timeless" and "unforgettable", as well as why it'll "still be fresh". YAS! 23 weeks in the top 10 but I even forgot that song existed. A song considered being a classic by the general public is different from a song being a personal fave. Subjectivity is key. And Work by Rihanna is not memorable? Please be joking, inverse.

Really hope Thunder makes it someday! I remember how Demons existed by January 2013 but only took momentum around September after Radioactive peaked at radio.
Pure love when alt acts like ID and TOP crossover to pop and get massive success, and I like how every year since Foster the People in 2011 we get at least one (fun. in 2012, Bastille & Hozier in 2014, Walk the Moon in 2015). Definitely my fave trend of the 2010s.

THIS. Amen ππ»ππ»ππ» Also not having a number-one debut doesn't mean a successful album era cannot hit the top at all. Recent examples like ANTI, Frozen, Unorthodox Jukebox and Traveller are all testaments to that. Come On Over debuted and peaked at #2 on the top 200 chart. I don't think Shania Twain was crying over that. Come On Over went on to be the biggest selling country album of ALL time. Tea! More examples are Celine's The Colour of My Love (#4), Avril's Let Go (#2), and Nickelback's Silver Side Up (#2). Canadian magic yes

i see what you mean, but my point is that the more successful album overall should start at number one. The charts are meant to show information over a set period. What ends up more successful in the end is absolutely irrelevant in respect to that. THIS. Amen ππ»ππ»ππ» Also not having a number-one debut doesn't mean a successful album era cannot hit the top at all. Recent examples like ANTI, Frozen, Unorthodox Jukebox and Traveller are all testaments to that.

BLAB returning to the top 10 is really happening, isn't it? Definitely. It has pretty much the same crossover power as Believer, more impressively without a discount or an official music video as of the moment.
