I dono, I just like Gloria as a person too much to vote her off, at least at this point. I'll go on and say Britney

En Vogue's song has the distinction of being an incredible sing lyrically as well as vocally-- really shoulda have won.
Faith Evans is snubbed in a strange way-- other than "I'll Be Missing You", she has had a nomination every year that she's had eligible material, but never won. The worst of these was when "Can't Believe" with Carl Thomas lost to Destiny's Child for "Survivor"-- in best R&B vocal group/duo?! Outrage.
Monica was snubbed this past year with no nomination at ever; I wonder how often the #1 song at a radio format that also had critical approval, by a Grammy winner, doesn't even get NOMINATED.

I love Simon's comment about Beyoncé and a dentist's chair, lmao.
I voted for Prince, he's underrated these days!

I think in terms of group dynamic and talent of all the members, En Vogue deserves to win, but it's just about a tie with TLC. Actually, I'll rank them with these factors:
group dynamic - talent - material - staying power
En Vogue: 8 - 10 - 9 - 6 (total = 33) *lose points for only having two albums before breaking up, but third album still had some power; very award-winning, dominated their time
Destiny's Child: 6 - 6 - 7 - 7 (total = 26) *that's assuming the 4th album does happen; talent's no where near as high as some of the others, especially with three throw-away members in the rotating membership. first album was rather weak. have dominated the charts & won awards.
TLC: 10 - 8 - 8 - 7 (total = 33) *four albums, not their fault they had a death before the 4th. dominated charts, very respected, award winning.
Blaque: 3 - 6 - 3 - 3 (total = 15) *i mean they can't compare at this point
The Supremes: 4 - 8 - 10 - 10 (total = 32) *it didn't take long to become Diana Ross & The Supremes, to the point where it was barely a girl-group... still, an insane number of hits and weeks at #1, and spun-off a huge solo artist. killer material. i know they werent actually together much longer than some of these other acts, but they have the benefit of still being played all the time; everyone knows all of their hits.
702: 3 - 6 - 5 - 3 (total = 17) *seem to be rather defunct, although they have some talent. most ppl can't name one of the, they're interchangeable even if Meelah does most of the lead. material is inconsistent.
Edens Crush: not worth rating
Spice Girls: 10 - 2 - 10 - 4 (total = 26) *they did dominate for a while, incredibly dynamics, everyone and their mom can name each member; didn't show talent (although some of them have since), a real flash-in-the-pan. killer material tho, even tho its lots of cheez.
(((you left out two major ones)))
SWV: 4 - 7 - 8 - 6 (total = 25) *didn't cross over at much but dominated R&B; strong material, classy ladies, never had any of the drama b.s.
XScape: 4 - 8 - 7 - 6 (total = 25) *the equal of SWV
I think those are the only ones worth ratings, I don't think any of the others had more than one major crossover-hit (although some come to mind anyway, Changing Faces, Brownstone, Jade, [there were so many more in the mid 90s than there are now])
So it's a TLC-En Vogue tie, with The Supremes losing because of Diana Ross's spotlight. If Destiny's Child next album spawns more big hits, and they share the spotlight, well then they'll move up. A succesful En Vogue reunion would easily put them on top.

I mean, Simon was dumb tonight. Missy DOES know how to sing. He just does hate rap. Hataaaaaaah
I voted for Mary though-- the crowd doesn't know what's up, it was awesome (should have done No More Drama tho)

I didn't realize that the ability to dial a phone deteriorates with age Also, wouldn't younger fans be limited to some extent as to how much time they can spend voting? The show airs on a school night, and voting doesn't end until 11 PM-most pre-teens probably have bedtimes before that. Of course, some older fans might also go to bed early if they have to wake up early for work, so who knows? psh, parents these days don't enforce bed times that much. it has nothing to do with older audiences ABILITY to dial, it's their desire. they have better things to do than dial 100 times (as many Hawaiians said they have been doing). Oh, not to say Hawaiians aren't mature. It's just clearly the voting system.

the reason IS THE VOTING SYSTEM
so the closest answer here is the sympathy vote for jasmine-- the fact that all of Hawaii can get in a very disproportionate amount of votes. and there's even the fact that diana's teenage girl fans (something latoya definitely has less of) can put in as many votes as 5 times as many older fans.

Simon: I think many of you are getting Adult Contemporary confused with Sleeping, it's not sleep night. If people want to fall asleep they watch Seacrest's show, not this one. Good song, but with all the other boring songs, not that unique. Hahah

It looks like the most popular choice is wrong. hahaha, goes to show how retarded the voting system is on the show. who knows, maybe she will hit #1 at some point.

I think like next series will be themed "slow songs", or "upbeat", or etc. to make it so artists have at least something in common when performing. now THAT is thinking! having them all sing songs not in a genre per se, but a type of song they can have in common, is a really good idea. like, songs about love, kiss off songs, etc etc
