She's probably gonna stay in the fifties, and I don't see anyone taking her crown, so, she's probably gonna beat her own record week after week, lol. I read somewhere that Kanye/Jay Z joint album comes our next Tuesday. So no nr1 for Taylor next week. Their new song is set to premier on Janury 11th. The album is slated for a March 1st release.

Kanye/Jay-Z? Didn't Jay learn from his album collabos with R. Kelly?

Wow....quite interesting. Should be a fun couple of months with the lack of competition to see what happens with sales of these albums.

So we expect more depressing sales until February. I wonder if there will a #200 album that will just have 1,000 or less copies sold anytime soon

The lowest #s for a #1 album "record" will be broken several times until March at least, so it's no surprise Taylor is going to sell 60k.

I think Ricky Martin has a shot at #1 in February, or at least top 3.

Although I'm really not sure how well it will do. Sales figure are really bad... They are coming closer to UK sales which is terrible

I wonder if the sales at the bottom of the chart will ever get so low that the number of positions in the chart will have to be lowered.

great for r. kelly, and especially great for TI. he'll definitely sell 500k, which is impressive considering it's lack of radio play (seriously, he's got nothing now) and the fact that TI's been in prison the whole time.

Idk why but i have faith taylor wont break the record this week, but will next week. I still want taylor to break the record for biggest fall for a number one song, she could eaisly do it. if i recall TWAF debuted at 2 and dropped to around 22 the next week. the biggest drop is something like 1 to 16 so i think she could eaisly break that record. i bet we will have a new weekly low for albums this week.

Why do people here keep referring to album sales as a measure of an artist's popularity?
These are different times we're living in people.
Digital single sales and/or streaming #'s from YouTube, Vevo, etc. is what matters.
The album as we know it is a dying format.
I'll keep buying them but it's obvious that the younger generation only cares about singles.

Eminem did kill it on streaming #'s this year as well as digital sales. So you can still sell a lot of albums and do well on those other things as well. Taylor Swift as well. I know what you mean but album sales do still tell you whats popular.

Hopefully Adele can sell over 100K when her album drops in February. I can't watch these dismal sales until March.

www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiThis time last year, January was off to a strong start with Ke$ha's Animal set to debut at 151k. Not so this year as Taylor Swift may add an unwanted footnote to her career by setting a record for the lowest total ever for a #1 album. Currently the Dreamgirls soundtrack holds that undistinguished title with sales of 60k for the week ending 1/14/07. Should Swift not exceed next week's projected range, that title would then belong to her. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 55-60k Nicki Minaj (YM/Cash Money/Universal Motown) 40-45k Daft Punk Tron: Legacy (Walt Disney) 35-40k Lady Antebellum Merry Little Christmas (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 35-40k Kanye West (Roc-a-Fella/IDJ) 35-40k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 35-40k Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 30-35k Bruno Mars (New Elektra) 30-35k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 30-35k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 27-30k Katy Perry (Capitol/EMI) 24-27k R. Kelly (Jive/JLG) 24-27k Black Eyed Peas (Interscope) 21-24k Lady Antebellum Need You Now (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 21-24k Kid Rock (Atlantic) 21-24k T.I. (Grand Hustle/Atlantic) 21-24k ** No debuts this week (1/6p) Nicki betta werque!!! If she doesn't do promo in the next couple of weeks to get that #1 spot, I will cut a tr!ck! Oh wait she is going to be on Ellen and that Joan River's fashion show. Get those sales, Nicki.

My hope...Taylor racks up a bunch of #1 weeks but gets overtaken one time and so does not keep a record for lowest-selling #1. Maybe Nicki or Eminem can do the honors.

I highly doubt a lowest-selling #1 week would put a dent to Taylor's name. It's a no-brainer she sells tons of albums, it hardly makes a difference if she gets this record (which she most likely will).

SMH.
Who cares if you are the lowest ever #1 album. You got a #1 album. I couldnt care less. Whoever would use that to insult an artist would be a moron. That is not something that is going to ruin a career people. It's a #1 album. Regardless if it's Eminem, Taylor, or Minaj.
A #1 album is a #1 album regardless if it sells 1K or 1 Million in a week. It is not a black mark on a career. Why people think it's a bad thing here to be the lowest ever #1 album i have no clue.
Jamrock also said it right....it is not a dent on a career at all.
So hopefully this fallacy ends soon.

The lowest-selling #1 album just means every other album sold less than that one. It doesn't mean a thing.
