So...they improved ratings because of her? I doubt it. More likely a coincidence.

Looking pretty unlikely that Swift will top 60k with Soundscan, looks like we have a new record

Another week in the top 20 for Pink's GH. Doing great considering recent GHs like Keeps Getting Better dropped faster and the Singles Collection did only a fraction of what Pink has done already.

Wow new peaks for Mumford & Sons and Daft Punk who score their first top 5! Nice to see more positive posts, since we should see really negative posts for the next few days. Deserved but I'm kinda tired of hearing it. Everyone knows the industry is declining and January is a bad month regardless....Is that a new peak for Nicki?

I want Pink`s GH to go gold so bad but the sales climate really suck right now. She`s almost at 300k. Long way to go.

At least the bottom numbers are not near their lows (which have been in the 7,000s).
And, of course, amidst low sales, who else but Taylor Swift would come out on top.

Nice to see Recovery in the Top 10 over 30K according to HITS. See what Soundscan say's.

^The box set was pricey; the single disc wasn't. The Singles Collection had a number of tracks not on the prior album, too. No fault, really, though- we know compilations, in the iTunes cherry-picking-tracks era,do not sell what they once did.

Nice seeing The Black Keys with a Top 10 album. SNL did well for them. Kesha keeps eating shit even with radio hits.

This article is really poignant:
SWIFT KEEPS PEAKING The Black Keys Crash the Top 10, While Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars, Daft Punk and Rihanna Go Top 5
January 11, 2011
It’s a brand-new year, but at the top of the HITS Album sales chart, the same familiar result.
Taylor Swift’s Big Machine album Speak Now adds another 53k to its total, enough to take her over 3 million in sales, and remains #1 with what is the lowest figure ever. The previous holder of this dubious record was the Dreamgirls soundtrack, which went to the top spot on the charts in January, 2007, with just under 60k in sales.
Speak Now is one of six titles in the Top 10 for Jim Urie’s UMGD along with four of the Top 5, including YM/Cash Money/Universal Motown hip-hop queen Nicki Minaj (#2), Walt Disney’s Tron Legacy soundtrack with Daft Punk (#4) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#5). Only New Elektra’s Bruno Mars (#3) breaks the stranglehold by the home on the Grainge.
Glassnote’s surging Mumford & Sons continue their ascent as the leading rockers on the chart, moving #8-6 for Daniel Glass, followed by Roc-A-Fella/IDJ’s Kanye West (#7), Shady/Aftermath/Interscope’s Eminem (#8), Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean (#9) and the week’s biggest gainer, Nonesuch’s The Black Keys, who soar #27-10, +43%, following their Saturday Night Live appearance last weekend.
Sony Music Nashville’s Country Strong soundtrack, with Gwyneth Paltrow, is the week’s top debut, entering at #12, thanks to the movie’s premiere.
Re-entries include Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Lady Antebellum Merry Little Christmas album (#13), YM/Cash Money/Universal Motown’s Drake (#40), New Elektra’s Cee Lo Green (#43) and Universal Motown’s Kid Cudi (#49).
Aside from The Black Keys, the week’s other positive gainer was Lady Antebellum, which goes #28-18, +5%.
Others showing upward chart activity include Atlantic’s Zac Brown Band (#35-29), BNA’s Kenny Chesney (#38-31) and Curb’s Tim McGraw (#44-33).
Hitting retail this week are Jive/JLG’s Cage the Elephant, Big Machine’s Steel Magnolias and ILG’s Cake, with Capitol/EMI’s The Decemberists, Custard/Atlantic’s James Blunt and Epic’s The Script on deck for the next Tuesday (1/18).

So...they improved ratings because of her? I doubt it. More likely a coincidence. Every award show is a coincidence? Even the Country award shows? Her SNL was the highest-rated of the season until the Betty White episode.

Her SNL was the highest-rated of the season until the Betty White episode. It's too big of a claim to say that she single handedly improved the ratings of all of those awards shows.

Yeah, also people don't want to hear about all the guys she has been with either. No, she just dishes on them in her songs LOL. And if anyone really believes that she isn't aware that it makes for a good marketing angle, then I have a bridge to sell you. She's as savvy a media player as some of her peers -- they just do it in different ways. But, to another extent, every award show/tv show she appeared on last year experienced an uptick in ratings. The VMA's, SNL, the CMA's, Grammy's, etc. She was at this year's AMAs, which dropped 22% in ratings. Would you attribute the drop to her too? www.thewrap.com/television/column-post/worst-ama-ratings-did-bieber-fever-break-show-or-save-it-22760Except for SNL, all those shows are ensemble shows -- I personally don't think it's possible to really accurately attribute any changes in ratings to any one artist. The TV shows that just had her as the headliner, her SNL episode in 2009 and her Thanksgiving special last year, had conflicting results. The former did well, but the latter didn't. You could say that the special was on a holiday when no one was watching, but it could also be argued that her SNL episode came soon after the Kanye incident.

P!nk has a decent shot at going gold with Perfect hitting the radio waves.
Does Eminem have the best modern (I'm considering like 2000+) selling greatest hits package? Last I checked it was around 3.5 million
