www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiThis time last year, January was off to a strong start with Ke$ha's Animal set to debut at 151k. Not so this year as Taylor Swift may add an unwanted footnote to her career by setting a record for the lowest total ever for a #1 album. Currently the Dreamgirls soundtrack holds that undistinguished title with sales of 60k for the week ending 1/14/07. Should Swift not exceed next week's projected range, that title would then belong to her. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 55-60k Nicki Minaj (YM/Cash Money/Universal Motown) 40-45k Daft Punk Tron: Legacy (Walt Disney) 35-40k Lady Antebellum Merry Little Christmas (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 35-40k Kanye West (Roc-a-Fella/IDJ) 35-40k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 35-40k Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 30-35k Bruno Mars (New Elektra) 30-35k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 30-35k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 27-30k Katy Perry (Capitol/EMI) 24-27k R. Kelly (Jive/JLG) 24-27k Black Eyed Peas (Interscope) 21-24k Lady Antebellum Need You Now (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 21-24k Kid Rock (Atlantic) 21-24k T.I. (Grand Hustle/Atlantic) 21-24k ** No debuts this week (1/6p)

Wow. January sales are so dismal! Interesting if Taylor gets the lowest #1 sales ever.

Recovery should be in the top 10 again. I thought it would drop more. So i'm happy. Swift looking at her 6 Non Consecutive Week at #1 for Speak Now. So thats good news for her fans. Nicki Minaj doing her thing. Rih and Ye doing decent.

If she doesn't get it this week, then she probably will next week, unfortunately. There are no new releases coming and most artist aren't even promoting their cds... How many weeks did Fearless spend at #1? I believe it was around 10-12...

Unless Taylor get's some more momentum somehow I think Speak Now ends up with 7 Non Consecutive Weeks at #1. This would be her 6th. And I think she will get it next week as well for her 7th. But then again who knows she could get another one but i have to image a new release is coming that will get over 50-60K in the 2 weeks. Not this week or next but maybe the week after.

Looks like a new record for the lowest total for a #1 album is going to happen this week (and probably broken again next week as there aren't any major releases).

It's gonna be like this until March so get used to it now. Grammy week may have some good sales numbers.

Yet another record for Taylor. lol She will not go higher than 60k. I`m pretty sure. I can see her dropping to 35-45k next week. Rihanna will get her chance...or will Nicki surprise us all?

She's probably gonna stay in the fifties, and I don't see anyone taking her crown, so, she's probably gonna beat her own record week after week, lol.

Wow. January sales are so dismal! Interesting if Taylor gets the lowest #1 sales ever. I wouldn't even say the general top 15 sales are particularly bad relative to 2010 (outside of the top 5 or so obviously) it's just the total lack of debuts is really hurting the upper regions of the chart

Hopefully the $7.99 deal will help it miss the record, if only by a few hundred.

Taylor may have a change to break a new record, the lowest selling #1 album ever, if she goes below 60k. Congrats Taylor!

Yay Taylor! Damn I wonder if she'll top herself and stay at #1 for 11 weeks again.
And WHOA at Nicki. She might even hit a new peak! Get it girl!

Bruno is staying strong. I believe he will stay in the top 10 throughout this month. Grenade is doing some wonder here.

"Ever" being since May 1991. :)
How can we not expect to reach a new low for a No. 1 album, with album sales continuing to decline annually?
Lady A's holiday EP isn't in the Target circular, but it may be on sale in the store (it's an EP- how much lower can it sell it for? Than again, it did sell Prince's 3-Cd album for bargain-basement pricing for a time).

does taylor even have a prominent hit single right now? Does she have a backlash on the radio or something?

There's not backlash but so far for Back to December Taylor's done like no promotion. Still, it moved up 5 spots to no. 24 in airplay this week, from being no. 12 country & no. 19 pop.
Mine is no. 39 in airplay and I think I read that about half is from AC/HAC which generally doesn't do much for downloads.

Great longevity for R. Kelly
Sales for #1 are low but Top 10 overall is pretty healthy compared to the worst figures we've seen.

I read somewhere that Kanye/Jay Z joint album comes our next Tuesday. So no nr1 for Taylor next week.
