I don't get the point in putting so much emphasis on first-week sales for any artist. There are so many things that go on during the chart-run of an album. "F.A.M.E." will outsell "LOUD" the first week, and so have thousands of other albums. That clearly means nothing. I can give you a perfect example: Nicki Minaj and Kanye West's album both came out around the same time as "LOUD" and both debuted with over 400k+. If you look at the Billboard 200 now, they've all scanned around the same amount of albums. Labels place a lot of emphasis on first week sales. It's usually the highest sales total for the album. If an album doesn't sell well in its first week, a label will pull back or even stop plans for promotion. Look at Christina Aguilera. She bombed the first week and the label stopped promoting the album after the 2nd single dropped. Everyone knows first week sales are important. The confusion on this matter or non-agreement in annoying and dismissible

LMAO. I'm not stupid. I know the importance of first-week sales, and I don't have a problem with people discussing them. We do it all the time. What I'M saying is that it doesn't make any sense to get so wrapped up in first-week sales because of everything (promotion, singles) that comes afterward, ESPECIALLY when discussing Pop albums. Clearly, no two artists are exactly alike, and the artists that we were comparing have two totally different fanbases. [/b] Umm no they haven't lmao...........Nicki is just under 1,230,000 where as Rihanna is just under 1,090,000. Thats still 140k difference. Sure she has SLIGHTLY closed the gap but she has also had 3 consecutive top 5 smashes, sooooo ???[/quote] That's still not a huge difference, IMO. I guess it's all subjective.

Any early predictions for Britney? I say 285-300k. Yeah, I'm thinking around 300-350k. Wiz should do around 200k.

If 140k isnt a huge difference to you then why even bring it up originally if the opening weeks was only 30k more to begin with????? Lol FAIL

Just realized -- maybe Adele's 19 and 21 will cross a million sold in the same week? Not sure of 19's total, but this puts 21 at around 850k, right? And I think 19 was in the mid-900s... maybe in 2-3 weeks? That'd be cool!

Further proof that Chris is the Ike Turner and Bobby Brown of our generation. And I don't hold either one of those latter two in any high regard.

riri's remix album debuted and peaked at 106, not every remix album sellls amazingly Keep feeding the Rihanna hater troll. Remix albums usually don't do well. A few ones like JLo's were big because they had promo and singles. GaGa's was also top 10 for a week, but she's a much bigger name than Ke$ha, and I don't think that awful Paint-made cover bodes well for decent sales.Ke$ha's remix album enters in the top 40. But she's not a bigger artist than Rihanna....or is she? In comparing debuts one could make an argument. Please don't refer to me as a troll. You tell someone else not to 'feed' me, yet you make a sad and unnecessary attempt to reference me. If you don't like my opinions and thoughts that's fine. But I do nothing wrong and I'd appreciate it if you DON'T disrespect me as I have extended you the same courtesy.

Dancing with the stars Tonight and Leno i think tomorrow. yea, with no promo he could expect a 60-70% drop. with promo hopefully it can be reduced to around 50% It's a great album so word-of-mouth should help also. not to mention Look At Me Now impacting pop radio and She Ain't You is impacting urban radio.

Great sales by Chris! Adele, P!nk, BEP & Florence all doing well. Hopefully BEP's sales increase with the success of JCGE. Also I'm happy to see Avril's album sticking it out. Hopefully it will stabilise and the next single will start pushing its sales up!

People need to differentiate between one's music and personal life. CB's album is amazing and he deserves to debut at #1. Jennifer Hudson doesn't have a single hit...I'm not surprised her album tanked.

WOW. Graffiti bombed. This has almost outsold already.
The Transform song wasn't very radio friendly/cohesive to competition.
