Hm.. If GaGa lets her fans choose, i still think MTN is next single.
I think if TEOG and MTN do well, then she should continue with other soft-rock tinged songs. Which would be 'You and I' and one of the bonus tracks, IMO 'The Queen'.
But, i would just take it slowly. And whether the 4th or 5th single is in the fall, ramp the promo back up then.
Though i wonder if her eventually releasing 'Living on the Radio' would be for a re-release/next album or holiday album(tho it isnt holiday related).
For the record, i think this will end somewhere between 2.5-3mil US.

N Sync and Eminem, among others had higher week 2 totals But those albums were at #1 in their second week. My point was that OIDIA had a huge 2nd week and DID NOT stay at #1. It had several really large sales weeks, even for that era, at yet it only spent one week at #1 which poits to what an extraordinary period the Summer of 2000 was in sales.

Marry the Night is a logical single choice. I don't think there are any other potential hits on the Born This Way album. Knowing how much she seems to love "You and I" maybe she'll release that too, although I don't think it will do well. Scheisse makes no sense as a single -- way too frantically high energy and the song has a huge chunk in German, which doesn't exactly scream "radio-friendly" to me. My hope is that she pulls a Rihanna and just moves on to the next album pretty quickly. i feel like you and i could eaisly be another speechless. promoted a lot but never an actual single

SALES BREAKDOWN: Amazon wound up selling 460k downloads, representing a huge chunk of the 1.1m total, while iTunes sold in the neighborhood of 190k. As for the rest, Best Buy moved around 140k, Target about 90k andWalmart roughly 80k. Indie retail and the 21k non-trad outlets accounted for the remaining 150k. Interestingly, 55% of physical sales were on the deluxe version. (6/2a) www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi

Wow. GaGa will most likely be on the bottom of that list then.

You and I, while it has been performed before Born This Way was released, exploded the week it was available. I could see You and I doing pretty well.

It has been mentioned in the Gaga album thread a number of times that she said "Government Hooker" and "You and I" will not be singles.

Hair or Scheibe could be massive hits.
Especially Scheibe.

I really cannot see a song that's title is in a foreign language, especially German, and means "shit" being a smash.

no, others had higher week 2 totals that went to #1 the week before I don't know if he's accurate, but I think he meant highest as in percentage of first week sales, not raw numbers. On another and LAST non-related, totally out of the blue post.... .... checking out Nsync's numbers, it really surprises me that they were huge really only in the USA, not worldwide. Just like Taylor Swift. Eminem, Briteny and GaGa are/were WorldWide superstars whose US sales in some cases doesn't even make 50% of their total sales. Not that surprising when you think about it. While it's not really accurate to say *NSync was only successful here (they did well overseas too), BSB was definitely the dominant group worldwide. *NSync debuted after them so they had to deal with being called clones or copycats (think what Xtina had to deal with when Genie in a Bottle came after BOMT; didn't stop Christina's debut from doing extremely well but she just suffered a bit from comparison). Not quite sure why *NSync basically matched BSB in the US - their second and third albums were a bit r&b-influenced in spots so that's something they offered which BSB didn't, but that doesn't explain the first *NSync album smashing. Actually you're wrong. NSYNC and BSB first came around the same time, circa 1996. Remember, NSYNC hit it big in Europe before they made it to the USA. Both were big in Europe, but BSB ended up being the bigger of the 2.

I really cannot see a song that's title is in a foreign language, especially German, and means "s**t" being a smash. If anyone would try, I can see it being Gaga. The song IS pretty awesome.

Lady Gaga stays on top for at least one more week but, as expected, her sales plummet in week two without the Amazon 99 cent deal. Adele continues her almost unprecedented run, at least in the recent state of the business. Look for it to be a battle in two weeks between the two divas for the #1 spot. Of note this week, RED has a possible four titles in next week's Top 10, with Sony nabbing six overall. Here's how it looks at midweek:
Lady Gaga (Interscope) 180-195k Adele (XL/Columbia) 120-130k *Death Cab For Cutie (Atlantic) 90-95k *Eddie Vedder (Monkeywrench) 60-65k Brad Paisley (Arista Nashville) 60-65k *My Morning Jacket (ATO/RED) 40-45k Now 38 (Capitol/EMI) 40-45k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow/RED) 28-32k *Flogging Molly (Borstal Beat/RED) 27-30k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote/RED) 25-28k Glee : The Music Vol. 6 (Columbia) 19-22k Lemonade Mouth (Walt Disney) 18-21k MMG Presents: Self Made, Vol. 1 (Maybach/WB) 18-21k Katy Perry (Capitol/EMI) 18-21k Seether (Wind-up) 17-20k
*Debuts (6/2p)

So about an estimated 83% second week drop for Gaga assuming she lands near the middle of that projection. I was hoping for around 220k but still 1.3 million after two weeks is amazing. I just hope this downward trend doesn't continue so rapidly.

Katy Perry is showing consistency whenever a new single raises up.
I think she will probably be able to reach 2 million scanned after all.
PS: A 6th single would help.

On another sad note, neither Rihanna, Minaj, or Spears' new singles are doing anything to help sell their albums.
