Gaga has amassed some of the biggest sales in terms of digital tracks, so she should be "judged" based on the performance of both, no?
When all is said and done, the album should easily clear 2m- but when 1.1m of those were sold in the first week, that should raise some concern.

As I menioned when this album came out though, although it opened on the YTD list at #2, it is unlikely to finish there, it doesn't seem to have the legs. Something will pass it, perhaps Tha Carter 4 will

So How many years has Weezy been in the game and how many years has GaGa? How have female pop albums been faring in terms of sales (generally) recently? Yeah. BYE.

This has to be a worry for Interscope going forward. Gaga has promo'd her ass off this era and nothing seems to be connecting with the general public. Plus I'm sure the album launch must be up there with the costliest in history... There hasn't been much promo lately post-"The Edge Of Glory". Not that she really needs a ton of it given that TEOG did pretty well in the end, and "You And I" looks to be taking off just fine too. Err, "The Edge Of Glory"? Still think "Marry The Night" should be the next single for America. Single sales are for Katy Perry et al. It's albums sold that Gaga will be judged on. Take out the first week of 99c deals and little monster multi buys and you haven't got much to look at to be honest. There's really no way to know how many copies were multi-buys so that really doesn't matter. If Soundscan didn't have a problem with the discount, then why should we? I have a feeling that there will be a rule change of some sort eventually if this sort of thing were to happen again.

What is impressive to me is even without the amazon deal she still would have at least doubled if not tripled every single other female pop cd debut in recent years and most of them had two massive hits (bigger than any Gaga has had for this entire) and holiday seasons bolstering them. To me, even subtracting amazon sales would equal an incredibly amazing debut for her especially with a massive flop going into cd release (Judas). It does make me smile that people act like it would have sold 150K total or something without Amazon deciding to discount it lol.
Gaga and Wayne should be extremely proud of their accomplishments.

Subtract the Amazon sales, and Gaga still would've had an impressive debut (600k+) and would be sitting around 1.3 million right now, which is not in any way bad.

Thewhole Gaga debate is stupid. You can only subtract the sales of amazon with assumption they wouldn't have been made up elsewhere. For example, without amazon deal, itunes would've gone up. By how much we don't know. We won't know. We can only guess.
But amazingly she'd still be outselling most of her pop female "rivals" in album sales. Like i've said a few months ago, GaGa would go back to her 20K a week and be fine.
but....Will be curious to see how Lil Wayne sells overall. He's pretty consistent.

Lil Wayne SLAYING them other rappers rn. :o Carter IV is actually a bit bad (surprisingly) but it's amazing the stronghold he has over the game.
40k+ for Bey :'(
I'm surprised Britney didn't return to the Top 50 after the VMA's. I know she didn't really do anything but there was an article that she got a boost in sales earlier in the week.

She needed a pregnancy though But what does that really have to do with her sales? Sure, the news of her pregnancy did get her a little more attention in the media, but would people see/hear the news and then think, "it's awesome that Beyonce's pregnant...I should go out and get her new album 4." Okay, maybe 3 or 4 people might do that.

Wouldn't it just be the mere exposure ON the VMAs that are giving her the spike in sales? The pregnancy crap shouldn't have anything to do with it.
