It was never established that BTW had an airplay promo like the others, though, was it? I heard it had a deal but again yeah I can't verify that. I too would be curious to know. It's not like she needed a deal though. I think her song got way more airplay than what a deal would warrant. Radio was playing Lady Gaga hour after hour because she was a superstar at the time.

So he's going to end his first week at radio with like 60 million A.I. if the +7 updates continue, plus around 450-500k digital.....he could get that #1. #2 is the lowest he's debuting. Not saying he won't get #1 (likely he will), but where has it been said that he definitely sold around 450-500k? Fun sold 387k last week and Bieber has been ahead of them (WAY ahead Monday to Wednesday) the whole week.

I'm not sure if "courtesy of such-and-such records" constitutes listeners being aware of an airplay-promo deal. And that's not even a widespread action with stations and airplay promos. In my area, I never heard the "courtesy of Interscope" when GMAYL was played hourly. And on a station like Z-100 in NY, it wasn't a constant.

Could someone stop Pitbull from writing lyrics? i agree. he's an awful rapper. he has lots of hits, but good god, the man is a terrible lyricist. every time i hear a pitbull song i turn the verses down and just wait for the chorus. Dale!

Ew I was on Bieber's Twitter and saw that he's been Tweeting endlessly to try to boost his sales. And the kind of language he uses to promote his song is very poseur-ish and full of himself. It makes me root harder against the song...on top of it being very bad and wannabe Timberlake.

Pitbull's not a rapper. He has admitted it himself in even some of his earliest recordings, regarding himself as a businessman and a hustler! ;) I think that may be the main reason why I don't rip on Pitbull in a way I otherwise would hypothetically. By his own admissions, I choose to rate him on a different scale: how well he sells himself and his fellow artists in the form of beats. And all in all, I think he makes business sound fun more often than not. But yes, there's no denying his lyrics are usually atrocious. I think that's intentional on Pitbull's end, though, in that he strikes me as rather well-educated from the interviews I've seen, much like Nicki Minaj, who also writes many atrocious lyrics. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

I hope Pulse realizes that her last name is "Adkins," with a D. I suppose "ATkins," with a T, could be part of the joke, but nonetheless...

^If "'Girl Gone Wild" were a track from a much younger act, I have little doubt that it would be getting a lot more airplay than that.

Done, damku- thanks. :)
Just as FYI, the differences between Mediabase Quick-Cut airplay and BDS last Wednesday:
Stronger: 161.4m vs. 117m We Are Young: 116m vs. 88m Glad You Came: 111.46m vs. 83m Starships: 64.06m vs. 45m Somebody That I Used To Know: 55.29m vs. 44m
Tomorrow brings the eighth-day impact for Bieber's single. And, seriously- was there a week-long airplay promo for the track? Not saying it's impossible for a new track to get that kind of airplay in its debut week (we've seen it), but based on his airplay track record, it is highly unusual.

^The track had 9m+ Mediabase in its first day, so if there was an airplay promo and it was a week long, that combined with the first day out of the mix would result in a big rolling loss.

bieber is stabilizing around +8 M / day. If tomorrow the track has +8 M again, then the rolling effect will be around -1 M AI. not bad...
J.Lo's new track will have such a huge terrible 8th day effect. We can expect -11 to -13 M on its 8th day.

Seems that RHI is finally ready to replace SFTTR The new John Mayer song is flopping hard: low sales, low airplay He was re-diagnosed with whatever vocal ailment he had months ago (same one Adele had). He canceled his tour and will not be promoting this album and single.

www.billboard.com/column/chartbeat#/column/chartbeat/justin-bieber-taylor-swift-jennifer-lopez-1006644162.storyJustin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez Storm Pop Songsby Gary Trust | April 02, 2012 Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez storm Billboard's Nielsen BDS-based Pop Songs radio airplay chart with new singles, led by Bieber's record-breaking bow. Bieber's "Boyfriend" launches at No. 20 with 3,961 first-week plays on 129 of the chart's 134 reporters (an average of 31 plays per station), marking the best first-week plays sum for a song by a male artist in the chart's almost 20-year history. The song also ties for the seventh-best positional start among all acts in the tally's archives. The arrival of "Boyfriend" is all the more impressive given Bieber's track record at Pop Songs, where the teen star has yet to log a top 10. Despite his sales success (8 million albums sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan) and high social media profile (19 million Twitter followers), Bieber has charted only as high as No. 14 with debut hit "One Time" in 2009. "Boyfriend" is set for a likewise lofty launch on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, aided by approximately 400,000 first-week downloads, according to industry projections. Check Billboard.com Wednesday (April 4) for the earliest highlights of the Hot 100 and Digital Songs charts. SWIFT START: Repeat ACM Entertainer of the Year winner Taylor Swift scores her highest Pop Songs debut, as "Eyes Open" bounds in at No. 28. The song, from the soundtrack "The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 last week with 175,000 copies sold, according to SoundScan, starts even higher on Adult Pop Songs (No. 24). The debut is the Adult Pop Songs chart's highest since Dec. 13, 2008, when the Fray's "You Found Me" began at No. 19. "Eyes" arrived as the Hot Shot Debut on the Hot 100 last week at No. 19, fueled by a No. 4 entrance on Digital Songs (176,000 downloads sold). 'DANCE' CHART: Jennifer Lopez completes the Pop Songs chart's trio of debuts, as "Dance Again," featuring Pitbull, shimmies in at No. 34. The pair teamed last year for the No. 5-peaking "On the Floor," Lopez's first top 10 since 2003. The video for "Dance," available in the iTunes Store as of today, will premiere Thursday (April 5) on "American Idol." Pitbull, meanwhile, is readying his own entrance on Pop Songs. His solo single "Back in Time," from the forthcoming movie "Men in Black III," is bubbling under the survey after its first week of airplay. All rankings, including the Hot 100, Digital Songs and Pop Songs, will be refreshed Thursday (April 5) on Billboard.com.
