Guys, ARTPOP is not the next single. There's a reason she didn't tweet about the performance until a few hours before and her tweet wasn't hyping it up. Also, Jimmy's introduction made it seem she was there to promote the tour. Jimmy asked her to perform and she said yes.
This era isn't over, she just filmed an expensive video (or supposedly a few videos). Most likely for G.U.Y., and/or Venus.

While I think this was still a wasted opportunity to promote a new single, I'm sure she agreed to do it because it's been kind of a big deal that the Tonight Show moved back to NYC, and we all know big of an NYC girl she is. The performance was nice, and I like the song, but I sure hope they've pulled back and have an aggressive strategy to push the next single and extend the era. |

Its sad to me that they let this era go so horribly. The music is there-she did what pop stars should do and make a solid cd, fun cd. Then she and her team basically screwed it over repeatedly for the entire 6 months they have been "promoting" it. I don't know whose fault it is, but it sucks. It is like they all suddenly got amnesia and forgot the absolute basics of releasing a cd/singles.

What a boring performance. I thought the stage set-up and effects were cool, but overall it was a total nonevent. And she needs to stop opening every performance with the piano only for the album version to kick in halfway through the song. That was neat back in 2008, and 2009, and 2010, and even 2011, but now it's beyond played out.

Why is everyone so dramatic? Afterall, Artpop could be the next single and I think people underestimate its hit potential. Same with Venus.

I actually loved that performance. I give up/don't know what to say about the fact that she sang "Artpop" or whatever the f**k has happened since choosing DWUW as the 2nd single. Not sure if at this point, she's trying to do some sort of secretive-Beyoncé thing? Idk

After U2's performance on The Tonight Show, they have one song in the Top 20 on iTunes and a second in the Top 50. "Artpop" isn't even in the Top 400. Considering U2 haven't had a crossover hit in ages, I'd say Gaga and her team have a much bigger issue than deciding what the next single should be.

Maybe she is moving on with this project since she split with her manager. Maybe she is trying to start as fresh as she can with this new guy?

She was amazing last night. I've loved every performance so far this era. I haven't followed the charts at all but as a fan I have been extremely satisfied with the Artpop era thus far. Interviews/performances have all been so alluring.

Regardless of what her future moves are with this project, performing Artpop was just not a good move. That is definitely not a song that would resonate with people enough to make them give her a second look this era, especially when performed live. I like the song but she'd probably have been better off singing a potential future single if there is one or an older hit if they still don't know what's going on. I honestly feel like a really good acoustic performance of Paparazzi or something would've been better for her overall than a random album track that no one knows or cares about.
She used to seem so meticulous and on top of her game and now she just comes off as this bewildered art freak and it's really off-putting especially since she can seem very chill and down to earth like when she was on Howard Stern.

The performance was ok, but pointless. In particular she chose the wrong song to give this kind of treatment. A stripped down performance only highlights the song's nonsensical lyrics.
I'm not even sure what they can do now. A new album this year does seem like a logical solution but with her going on tour soon it's not like they can promote all new material.

She looks fine overall now imo (much better than the early-mid 2009 chubby bunny look). The problem is when she does the really long straight hair which makes her seem at least 10 years older than she actually is.  Aside from the obvious wigline, this looks good to me. |
