New Order still isn't in?! Wow. Them, Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, and Iron Maiden are the ones I want to see in most.

I don’t know why I keep doing the fan vote knowing very well that it won’t count towards who gets in.

Wouldn't be mad with any combination of these nominees. This is a good ballot this year.

Troublemaker- it makes a difference in the sense that the top five at the end of the fan vote constitutes one ballot. :)

I should've snapped a picture of the vote tally so far, though the fan vote totals are probably online.
Cyndi is in the lead and Missy is next to last as of today.

The absence of Mariah is ridiculous. You mean to tell me Sheryl has had more impact than Mariah? GTFO here.

Hey now! Let's not trash Sheryl. They should both be on there! Alanis too!

The Spinners should get in but they seem to hate r&b .

The Spinners should get in but they seem to hate r&b . Agreed. Dionne Warwick should be in there too. However, they have a couple R&B acts already in. I do somewhat agree with the last statement. Many R&B acts should be there.

Many R&B acts should be there. I feel like The Spinners fit in the same vein as other Philly soul acts like The O'Jays, who got inducted in 2005 on their second nomination, and I'm hoping since it's been several years since their last nomination, this year might be their year for induction but I'm not getting my hopes up. I feel the same with Kool & The Gang - they seem to have a similar career trajectory as Earth, Wind & Fire (both had a number one pop hit, quite a few R&B hits, and similar pop chart success throughout the 70s and 80s) but they've never received a Rock Hall nomination while Earth, Wind & Fire also got inducted on their second nomination in 2000. There's just so many deserving acts out there to induct, it's frustrating with the passage of time how many newer artists become eligible it seems like a lot of older acts are getting forgotten about.

Agreed, when it comes to the Rock Hall, we shouldn't be pitting women against women, because the institution itself has been problematice putting women in. I think both should be in. If you want to complain, complain about some of the men who have appeared on the ballot over and over or even some of those that are in.

Now that Dolly Parton is in, I wonder if the conversation will turn to Reba McEntire. She is certainly deserving, and has been at it for nearly 50 years now.

Now that Dolly Parton is in, I wonder if the conversation will turn to Reba McEntire. She is certainly deserving, and has been at it for nearly 50 years now. Dolly is different from most women in country music because of the reach she had outside of country music. Reba's success has been within country music, so I think she will be a tougher sell. Country music is even less represented in the HoF than R&B and hip-hop, so to this point they seem to think the Country Music Hall of Fame covers acts exclusive to country music. Plus they might want to induct legends who pre-date her (like Loretta Lynn) before getting to Reba. The absence of Mariah is ridiculous. You mean to tell me Sheryl has had more impact than Mariah? GTFO here. I think Sheryl benefits from making rock music. Sheryl Crow is one of the last true female rock stars. Presumably she will get in soon, as will Alanis, Fiona, and Pink. After them there aren't any recent female rockers who could get in. Even as the HoF has seemingly become a bit more inclusive, a lot of voters still seem a bit exclusive to R&B and maybe country music. Whitney and Janet both came out 5 or more years before Mariah and got inducted within the past few years, so I'd think/hope Mariah will get in within the next 5 years. I think this year's nominees are a great group and wouldn't really argue against any set of them getting in. There are other artists I think should get in before some of this year's nominees, but that's more a matter of timing than anything so hopefully they all get inducted at one point. I'm mainly rooting for Missy Elliott, Kate Bush, and The Spinners.

No bad nominee in there but Iron Maiden are who I'm pulling for the most, it's odd to me that they're not already in.

I wish it wasn’t so restrictive and that more deserving people could get in each year. Shania Twain is another person who should be in.

If we're talking female rock artists, I'm confused at Sheryl Crow being nominated before Melissa Etheridge.

Looks like the fan vote has ended (how swiftly the time went). Inductees expected to be announced next week.

Future Rock Legends is keeping track of ballots that have been made publicly available by voters. Mostly journalists, music critics and DJs. So far, they have 35 of them, and Kate Bush appears on the most ballots, 20 in total. Joy Division/New Order has the second most, and Missy Elliott and The Spinners are tied for third most. The White Stripes appear on the least amount of public ballots.

No, she's warranted this for a very long time now. There are many many artists who can induct her that have followed what she started. Tori Amos is the most obvious one.

He's talked often about how much he loves her music and how it's inspired his own. OutKast are eligible, and if he's picked, it will be a good sign for them next year.

Future Rock legends has made its predictions ahead of tomorrow's announcement. Of note, is that FRL doesn't always get every pick right. Would like to see The Spinners, but the act doesn't seem to have mass support. The cover of "Working My Way Back to You" (meshed with the then-new "Forgive Me Girl") is one of my favorite tracks. futurerocklegends.com/News/#unique-entry-id-419Willie Nelson Missy Elliott George Michael Warren Zevon Sheryl Crow Cyndi Lauper

Disappointed that Joy Division/New Order didn’t make it. I also don’t think they should have been nominated as a single entity, but that’s apparently beside the point.
Otherwise, this is another very good class. Especially glad to see Missy in on her first ballot, and to see George finally make the cut. Was not expecting RATM or the Spinners to have enough support to make the cut, but both deserve to be there.

This is a terrific group of inductees. (I wonder if they included Wham stuff for George, though.)
Nice to see Chaka get in one way or another, but I assume this means she might never get inducted via the vote/ballot.
I've seen a lot of negative comments on social media, I think in regards to Warren Zevon getting in? I mean, considering how many women and nonwhites have been left off over the years in favor of white men, I just don't care.
