I agree, Mutt's marketing experience and studio wizardry was instrumental in Shania's success. Clearly, her first album, without Mutt's magic, only had Shania's voice to sell it. ;) But still, a first album is a first album, and in that respect, Gretchen has Twain beat. Back to Don't: It has regained its bullet on Mediabase, though it's still on life support, barely adding 58 spins, compared to other songs on the chart. 22 SHANIA TWAIN Don't! 1418 spins 10.525 audience impressions First of all, Shania's first album was not a major record. She was not signed with Mercury [You notice this when they play WMYST, DWTOTBY, or YLAWLOLOM]... I'm talking about the first CD that SHANIA WROTE, and that was with Mercury. Shania outsold gretchen 12X to 4X [and im pushing it... ].. Shania also didn't have to re-re-release The Woman In Me... Gretchen's HERE FOR THE PARTY was re-released the day of Shania's greatest hits release, and was also just recently re-re-released.... Shania has never re-released an album. .

Last fall for the movie; Shania has filmed the video for IANQ so I would say yes, it will go in May. The song will be released in May? Smart...sounds like a summer song to me, joyful, uplifting lyrics and a fast beat... (I just hope the dreadful DON'T finally has a painles death...the song is so bad, I'm surprised it hasn't disappeared...)

I don't know it will be released in May but by the looks of things that would be my educated guess. :)

Good song, hopefully she will sing live this time...this is her chance to sing a decent song and the most country-sounding Shania song in like, forever...and to get back into Nashville's good graces.

I agree with the Nashville grace. They will think it was their idea for her to do it. But unless the next album sounds the same as Quitter, which Shania has said she would like to do a traditional album, that 'good graces' will be short lived.

23 (down from 22 yesterday) SHANIA TWAIN Don't! 1399 spins (up 29 spins from yesterday) 10.365 audience impressions , down from 10406 yeterday, down from 10519 on Tuesday. Keith Urban passes DON'T (with a brand new song) Gretchen gets her fourth top ten from her debut album.

Keith Urban passes DON'T (with a brand new song) Gretchen gets her fourth top ten from her debut album. Not to make excuses but what was the last Keith Urban single not to go Top 10? Come on, industry favorite. And as TCorey said, Gretchen is irrelevant to the topic. She's hot now, and Mercury didn't get behind Shania's debut..Lewis admitted that.

Don't also stalls at R&R, holding off at # 22...
Will this be Shania's first song in a while not to hit the top twenty?...I think the last time was when the three songs from her flop debut didn't even reach the top forty, wasn't it?

You need to do some research. There was one or two singles from COO (Rock this Country) that didn't make it and 2 from TWIM (Home Ain't Where His Heart Is, God Bless the Child)...

I see. So COO and TWIM wasn't the wall-to-wall-packed-with-hits disc her fans call it.
Good, STGOTMEGOOD...at least you can admit that Shania has had flops...
How high do you predict DON'T will go?

Before it came out, I would have guaranteed Top 5. But the way it looks now, unless she gets out there and promotes it, I would say #18..maybe...lol. I will admit Shania's record isn't perfect. To me, if it is, that's strange. Every artist has flops. I am suprised Don't isn't going higher, I thought the message would connect. Oh well, I didn't become a Shania fan because she was a good charter. ;) And on the COO/TWIM wall-to-wall comment, to me every song is a hit. Maybe not with radio but to me..I love every song on those albums, some more than others. To each his own is my saying..it may not be your cup of tea. That's great, but it is most definetly mine!

When You Kiss Me peaked in the high 60s and both Ka-Ching and Thank You Baby failed to even chart. They were all from UP and they all had expensive videos as part of their release strategy. But they failed to connect with a large audience, even though they were all played somewhat on country radio...

-110 spins.... you're right. It looks like like the end of this song. It might get a new lease on life on AC radio, a haven for mediocre balladry, though neither It Only Hurts When I Breathe nor When You Kiss Me was a hit there either. We'll see.
