Saturday Mediabase Update 23 (down from 24) SHANIA TWAIN Don't! 1361 Spins 10.609 Audience impressions (down from 10619) No bullet
Keith Anderson, Keith Urban and Darryl Worley are all rapidly moving up with songs that will most likely pass the bullet-less DON'T soon...

I don't. The majority of music critics don't either. The MAJORITY of music critics....or the "majority that I choose to READ" of music critics? I could post a load of critic reviews that have actually praised the song, there are probably more that have praised then that have put it down! ;) Your motive is simply to focus on the bad and ignore the good because it is all you ever do!

Okay, we get the point. Quit posting the same post over and over. As for "Don't", my radio DJ just called it a lovely and powerful song and one of Shania's best. And I agree. :)

Im waiting... Notice how NY does not post links to quotes... Because she has invented them. When someone will reply after me that has nothing do to with my post, NY will then post something and will ignore my previous post completely.

Also notice that NY doesn't post the good Mediabase updates, when Shania goes up in spins and audience...

22, Up from 23 last week.. 1419 spins, up 48 spins from last week.. Audiance Impression is 10.733, which I think is Don'ts highest AI yet?

You think your posts will go un-noticed, and that you will not have to post links... Well the fact is, You made up those quotes, just like every other quote you make up. I just want you to admit it... Or give us all these so called quotes.. and there links please!

WOW! Gretchen Wilson is already in the top ten,(her fourth single from her debut album to do so!)
Anyway, back to topic...DON'T:
More quotes from critics:
"... DON'T isn't without its charms,melody-wise, but Shania's less-than-stellar voice drags it down and declaws what otherwise would be a knock out ballad."
"the schmaltz factor is alive and kicking in DON'T , and Shania's uninspired vocal performance doesn't help...the song sputters along with a weak arrangement and a flimsy melody that goes nowhere fast"
"Shania has always had a knack for blandly inoffensive AC fodder, but DON'T hits new heights(lows?) in the dull ballad department. Add a particularly colorless vocal performance, and you get primo Twain: empty, vacuous and utterly forgettable."

Hey, I found a mildly positive review of DON'T...
" In spite of a vocal performance that could've benefited from a tad more conviction, Shania sells the song with the sheer force of her intentions. Sure, DON'T is forgettable pablum, but never underestimate the power of aural cotton candy, especially if it's covered in cheap sentimentality. Her fans will lap this up."

First of all, I'd like to say Shania also had 4 top tens from her first major album [The Woman In Me], and you keep posting reviews that dont exist! LINKS PLEASE

Shania Twain's first album- Shania Twain over 11 years of release-platinum certification Gretchen Wilson's first album- Here For The Party 45 weeks of release-cuadruple platinum certification
Singles released from each album and Billboard Country Singles And Tracks chart peak-
From SHANIA TWAIN:
What Made You Say That? #55
Dance With The One Who Brought You #55
You Lay A Whole Lot Of Love On Me #57
From HERE FOR THE PARTY
Redneck Woman #1 Here For The Party #3 When I Think About Cheating #4 Homewrecker currently climbs to #15
Do the math.
Back to Don't, I found a lukewarm review:
" T... the lovely Miss Twain has recorded energetic countrified pop since the beginning of her career, and most of her big commercial hits are uptempo ditties, but it's in her ballads that she tends to misstep, at least artistically. Simply put, her voice isn't a malleable, powerful or expressive enough instrument to pull off slow burners. Don't is truly one of Miss Twain's least inspired efforts, lyrically and musically, devoid of any trace of true emotion."

I think I am going to compliment you: You're very creative to make up these reviews, but might I suggest that they all sound the same and its quite obvious you are beating the same drum? We all get it, you don't like Shania. Great, then don't spam her threads with false messages and fake numbers.
Oh and reidster did say "major album". The fact that her first album flopped goes to show that the people prefer Shania's writing and Mutt's producing over Nashville hacks.

I agree, Mutt's marketing experience and studio wizardry was instrumental in Shania's success. Clearly, her first album, without Mutt's magic, only had Shania's voice to sell it. ;)
But still, a first album is a first album, and in that respect, Gretchen has Twain beat.
Back to Don't: It has regained its bullet on Mediabase, though it's still on life support, barely adding 58 spins, compared to other songs on the chart. 22 SHANIA TWAIN Don't! 1418 spins 10.525 audience impressions

If Nashville hyped up Shania's debut HALF as much as they have with Gretchen then maybe it would be a fair comparison, but NY you don't like the word "fair" do you! ;)
Put it this way, Shania has acheived more with 1 album then what Gretchen will likely do in her entire career. Although, nevermind "Come On Over"......Gretchen will never even outsell "The Woman In Me" or "Up!".

Oh just leave Gretchen out of this. There really is no point in such comparsions. It's so childish.

So what happened to that Jennifer Lopez film in which DON'T was allegedly gonna be used?
Will the song also be in the soundtrack?

Summer? Wasn't it set for last summer(or was it this past fall?)?
And finally, a little OT...is I AIN'T NO QUITTER officially the next single? No rumours or fan speculation...has Mercury confirmed if the song will be pushed to radio? I think that song might put Shania back in good graces with the Nashville establishment...(but then again, IAGD also had COUNTRY SMASH written all over it, and they didn't release it...go figure)
