If Suit and Tie was released by any one else it would've flopped and thats putting it mildly. Even for an R&B song is mediocre at best. Had it been an Usher or Miguel track it would have gotten a low 60's peak at best. It's a great song and it's not Justin's fault the two of them have zero starpower. He used his position to make R&B mainstream again so R&B fans should be thankful instead of bitter.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6214496/guardians-of-the-galaxy-soundtrack-no-1-billboard-200Over on the Digital Songs chart, a new No. 1 is crowned, as Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" rises 2-1 with 197,000 downloads sold (up 17 percent). Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj's "Bang Bang" drops 1-2 in its second week, selling 141,000 (down 39 percent). Minaj makes a second appearance in the top three, as her new solo single, "Anaconda," bows at No. 3 with 141,000. She is the first lead act to have two concurrent songs in the top three of the chart since the Sept. 22, 2012 list. That week, Taylor Swift led with "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at No. 1 and "Ronan" at No. 2. Smith's "Stay With Me" remains at No. 4 on the new Digital Songs chart with 123,000 (down 11 percent), Magic's "Rude" is also steady at No. 5 with 122,000 (down 8 percent), and Jason Aldean's "Burnin' It Down" is another stationary track, sitting at No. 6 for another week ( 107,000; down 7 percent). Iggy Azalea's "Black Widow," featuring Rita Ora, climbs 8-7 with 106,000 (up 6 percent), and Azalea's "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, slips 7-8 with 98,000 (down 8 percent). Maroon 5's "Maps" tumbles 3-9 with 97,000 (down 31 percent), and Sia's "Chandelier" moves 9-10 with 91,000 (down 7 percent). Digital track sales this past week totaled 20.2 million downloads, down 1 percent compared with last week (20.4 million) and down 8 percent stacked next to the comparable week of 2013 (22.1 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 715.6 million, down 13 percent compared with the same total at this point last year (820.2 million).

With the release of the Black Widow video, Iggy may get the chance to have 3 songs in the Top 10 if Problem stays on.

I think we should ask Pharrell Williams to write a song that can sell above 200k for at least 2 weeks!!! Only Pharrell can change this situation in digital sales lol

It's too bad they completely missed marked on video, because Problem should've been a #1 song. Maps drop isn't unexpected because the previous week "V" went for pre-orders and the boost from people purchasing album and getting single in addition to the increased visibility.

He used his position to make R&B mainstream again so R&B fans should be thankful instead of bitter. It's actually a pretty bland, unsinpired song. The joke at the time was that it sounded more like something Robin Thicke would release while the absurdly-catchy and well-produced "Blurred Lines" had the disruptive feel of a new Timberlake release. The success wasn't even purely about his star power - it was about the comeback factor. ANYTHING he released was going to do really well; I'd argue S&T did as poorly as a Justin Timberlake return single possibly could have done. And if he released Suit and Tie right now (and had gone with Mirrors as the comeback single, as he should have done), I doubt it would even hit the Top 10 on the Hot 100.

He used his position to make R&B mainstream again so R&B fans should be thankful instead of bitter. you're full of s**t in a way that's usually easy to brush off as another typical stan but you should be slapped for this. R&B fans should be grateful that Justin can put out a mediocre r&b song as his 'comeback' single, still be allowed to rebound to have a great-selling first album off the strength of a POP hit, then literally botch what should have been the greatest comeback of all time by not releasing any more songs from part one but rushing out a half-baked part two...instead of being pissed that actual great r&b continually gets ignored until you slap a 'mainstream' face on it? we should be HAPPY that JT can dip into our charts any time he wants but Usher basically gets stuck having to 'choose' because if he makes his songs too pop-friendly his r&b fans will throw him out to the wolves again? I'm going to resist the urge to take this to its logical conclusion but i'll just say that a) you entirely missed the point but b) i actually don't care that Miguel isn't crossover yet or that Usher's peak is long behind him, considering that Usher's stats s**t on Justin's so much that the only thing you have on your side in this one-man stan war of yours is hype. neither Usher nor Miguel are hurting for anything in the long run and i actually like JT's music so i'm not going to belabor this. have a good day.

MAGIC! Still No. 1 On Hot 100 as Meghan Trainor & Charli XCX SoarThe Canadian quartet rules for a fifth week with 'Rude,' while Trainor's 'All About That Bass' bounds and Charli XCX's 'Boom Clap' enters the top 10. MAGIC!'s "Rude" rules the Billboard Hot 100 for a fifth week. Meanwhile, Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" jumps 8-4, while taking over atop the Digital Songs chart, and Charli XCX charges into the Hot 100's top 10 with "Boom Clap." Plus, Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" rises to the top of the Radio Songs chart. Wednesday always means a new Hot 100, so let's dive into the numbers behind the latest top 10. "Rude" maintains its hold atop the Hot 100 despite not leading any of the chart's main component surveys that rank airplay, sales and streaming. (It's a fairly rare occurrence, as, in the 83 weeks dating back to the debut of the Streaming Songs survey early last year, the top Hot 100 title hasn't led Radio Songs, Digital Songs or Streaming Songs, nor the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart, in only seven of those frames.) How does "Rude" continue to dominate? Even though it's not No. 1 in any main metric, it's still showing strong numbers in all. It falls 1-2 on Radio Songs after a week at the summit (166 million all-format audience impressions, down 2 percent, according to Nielsen BDS). It holds at its No. 2 high on Streaming Songs (8.2 million U.S. streams, up 2 percent) and stays at No. 2 on On-Demand Songs (3 million, down 5 percent), which it led for three weeks. On Digital Songs, "Rude" keeps at No. 5 with 122,000 downloads sold (down 8 percent) in the week ending Aug. 10, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It topped the chart for three weeks. Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" logs a second week at its No. 2 high on the Hot 100 and becomes the most-heard song in the U.S. (in the week ending Aug. 12), rising 2-1 on Radio Songs (173 million, up 6 percent). "Stay" stays at No. 1 on On-Demand Songs, where it reigns for a second week (3.2 million, down 3 percent), and No. 4 on both Digital Songs (123,000, down 11 percent; it led the list for two weeks last month) and Streaming Songs (6.3 million, up 2 percent). MAGIC! wins a close race over Smith for the Hot 100's top spot, thanks to its slight lead in overall streaming, since the latter finishes ahead in both airplay and sales. "Rude" is 6 percent in front of "Stay" in overall Hot 100 points, narrowing the gap from 9 percent last week and likely setting up another spirited battle next week. Iggy Azalea's former seven-week No. 1 "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX (more about her own latest achievement ahead …), remains at No. 3 on the Hot 100. As it leads Streaming Songs for a 13th week (8.9 million, up 3 percent), it ties Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" for the most weeks tallied at No. 1. "Fancy" also tops Hot Rap Songs for a 17th week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a 12th frame. It dominates the Songs of the Summer chart for an 11th week, continuing as the only title that's led the seasonal list since it made its annual return after Memorial Day. The M-Train (aka, Meghan Trainor, to borrow her self-appointed handle) keeps on rollin', as "All About That Bass" blasts 8-4 on the Hot 100 and is the new No. 1 (2-1) on Digital Songs. It tops the latter chart with a 17 percent jump to 197,000 sold, good for top Digital Gainer honors for a fourth straight week. How notable is that streak? "Bass" is the first song to earn the award for four consecutive weeks since digital sales began contributing to the Hot 100 in February 2005. Prior to the digital era, the Hot 100 bestowed a top "Sales Gainer" honor (powered by physical singles' increases), and the last time a song took that title for four weeks in a row was more than 10 years ago: JoJo's fellow debut hit "Leave (Get Out)" in May 2004. (Must be something special in the Massachusetts air: JoJo, while born in Vermont, was raised in Foxborough, Mass. Trainor is from the state's island of Nantucket.) Sales account for the majority (55 percent) of the Hot 100 chart points for "Bass," but it's surging across-the-board, also claiming top Streaming Gainer kudos for a second straight week and leaping 13-5 on Streaming Songs (6.2 million, up 47 percent). It debuts on Radio Songs at No. 45, up by 59 percent to 29 million. Nico & Vinz's "Am I Wrong" retreats from its Hot 100 peak (4-5), while Ariana Grande's "Problem," featuring Azalea, dips 5-6 after peaking at No. 2 for five weeks. Maroon 5's "Maps" holds at its Hot 100 highpoint (7-7), while Sia's "Chandelier" reaches a new best rank (9-8). After debuting last week at No. 6, Jessie J, Grande and Nicki Minaj slip to No. 9 with "Bang Bang." Download sales continue to contribute the biggest bulk of its chart points (52 percent), with 141,000 sold (down 39 percent). It drops 1-2 on Digital Songs, but powers 21-14 on Streaming Songs (4.1 million, up 34 percent) and 47-37 on Radio Songs (38 million, also up 34 percent). Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Charli XCX's "Boom Clap" thunders 11-10 as the top Airplay Gainer. The track, from the soundtrack to "The Fault in Our Stars," lifts 10-8 on Radio Songs, up by 19 percent to 83 million. It holds at No. 11 on Digital Songs (87,000, down 6 percent) and No. 20 on Streaming Songs (3.5 million, up 3 percent). The British singer/songwriter scores her third top 10 in as many Hot 100 visits, and, notably, her first in a lead role. Prior to the seven-week reign of "Fancy," she reached No. 7 last year as featured on Icona Pop's "I Love It." Disclosure's "Latch," featuring Smith, departs the Hot 100's top 10, falling 10-11, but commands the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a fifth week. Also just below the Hot 100's top 10, Minaj's "Anaconda" slithers in as the top debut at No. 19. Sales lead the way (accounting for 71 percent of its overall points), as the cut launches at No. 3 on Digital Songs with 141,000. The song is Minaj's 51st Hot 100 hit, extending her mark for the most among female rappers (Missy Elliott is next with 31) and tying her with Eminem for the seventh-best total among all rappers; Lil Wayne leads the category with 122. Among all artists, Minaj breaks out of a tie with Michael Jackson and also equals Rod Stewart's 51 career Hot 100 entries. www.billboard.com/articles/news/6214513/hot-100-magic-charli-xcx-meghan-trainor01 (01) "Rude" | MAGIC! 02 (02) "Stay With Me" | Sam Smith 03 (03) "Fancy" | Iggy Azalea ft. Nicki will take steep fall on next week's chart, but if video comes out this week? MTV performance, it should rocket - it's hard to see how it would miss Top 5, let alone Top 10
