Chart notes: - Only four songs move down this week, which makes me think the next chart is going to be pretty stagnant. Something's going to have to give, but what?
- Kacey Musgraves gets the highest charting country song for a female in years - you'd have to go back to 2010 when Reba McEntire went to #6 in January 2010 with "Consider Me Gone."
- While there are still songs in consideration from March Madness to debut, they are trumped this week by the one lone entry - Life of Dillon's Overload.
So 2012 is up for the retro chart... - Stronger had a really impressive run for a one-week #1 spending an additional 9 weeks in the top 5 after it initially hit #1. It's run was cut short by Whitney Houston's death, which resulted in I Will Always Love You bumping it from #1.
- Adele had just completed a year in the top three and was on her fifth song from 21 - all of which had hit #1. Did I mention I was obsessed?
- This was Janelle Monae's 2nd time at #1 - she had hit #1 previously with "Dance or Die" in October of 2010, and would hit #1 again with "Dance Apocalyptic" in October of 2013. She may have another debut here soon enough with "Yoga."

Chart notes: - I will be stepping away from Pulse for a few weeks as I wrap up the semester. Decided to post this one early before I do. Josh will be posting for me again. I'll still be checking the thread, but will be unable to post. :') I will return though!
- Speaking of Vanessa Williams, her daughter debuts on the chart this week as part of Lion Babe.
- Yet another March Madness contender debuts - this time it's Something New!
What was happening in popstop's chart in 2013? - Well, for one thing, it would be the last chart for months that would feature two women in lead in the top five. In fact, in the next four months, the only woman who would appear in top five would be India Arie (for three weeks). Otherwise, it was all men until August.
- Once Emeli's run ended, no women would hit #1 until October. (Lorde broke the streak.)
- I miss Lozzy.

for popstop: Chart notes: - Coincidence fucks over Saint Motel as Juntos stays at #1 for a fourth week. It turns out that Juanes was #1 10 years ago this week. He was spending his first week at #1 with "La Camisa Negra." Normally, that would just be kind of interesting, but it was also the week my son was born. <3 Yes, he will be 10 years old this Saturday, so how could I not keep Juanes at #1 to celebrate? Sorry, Saint Motel!
- Jessie J gets a 4th song in the top 10, following Price Tag (#4 in 2011); Domino (#6 in 2012), and Bang Bang (#1 last year). That also means all three leads from Bang Bang have had a top ten follow-up.
- Next week looks to be competitive, as the biggest mover is Biscuits, which bounds into the top 5 with the biggest jump, Shut Up and Dance advanced 4-3, and Saint Motel holds steady at #2.
It is 2014's turn to be featured on the retro chart! Ah, just one year ago, and I have to say this top five is (mostly) flawless. I'm pretty burned out on All of Me at this point (and I was pretty close to the burn-out period once it fell from #1), but everything else I would gladly listen to again. The week following this chart, I threw the chart to Pulse's Danger Zone game, and made that make up my chart. The Walker would crash 1-20, and Chandelier, which looked a surefire #1, would fall to #11. Habits would soar 14-1. And then I would reset a lot of it the following week. Crazy chart! The only song that would remain in the top five that week was "Rather Be," which fell to #5.

for popstop: Chart notes: - Shania Twain came close. So did Leann Rimes. Carrie Underwood made it to #4 once. Taylor Swift hit #2 once in her country days. But until now, no country song by a woman had hit #1 on my chart until this week. Kacey Musgraves breaks the curse, managing to do it with Biscuits, which rises #4 to #1.
- This is also the first top ten to feature two Latin songs.
- Jhene Aiko finally moves into the top 20. It's her second song to do so after last year's "To Love and Die"
We go all the way back to 2000 for this chart. Aw, little 12 year old popstop :) - I'm not even sure where to begin seeing that I was listening to The Bad Touch and the Thong Song at 12. - Forgot About Dre was Em's first time at #1. He would hit #1 two more times later that year with "The Real Slim Shady," and "Stan". - A rare top five where all the songs move up. Stone Temple Pilots would knock Eminem out of the top spot the following week.

for popstop: Chart Notes: - The top five mostly don;t [sic] change with the exception of Juntos' exit, which allows Oliver Heldens to get his second top 5 hit, following last year's Koala.
- Three debuts this week means next week's chart is likely to feature a lot of gridlock as few songs are moving down. Earned It debuts mostly on the strength of my son's love for the song, which means it's getting a lot of airplay at home.
- Hey Mama is the 4th song from Guetta's Listen album to appear on the chart. "Bad" peaked at #2 a year ago this week.
This week's retro chart is from 2001, when I was wrapping up 7th grade - BEP's first song on my chart is still their most successful. It was bumped from #1 after three weeks at the top. They would hit #1 one more time with "I Gotta Feeling," which spent 2 weeks at the top. - Lady Marmalade spent 4 weeks at #2, never hitting #1 to my everlasting regret. It was blocked first by India Arie, and then by Fatboy Slim. I do love Weapon of Choice still though. - Nelly Furtado had the first of her four songs to reach the top 5. The rest would all peak at #3. I just noticed that Promiscuous and Say It Right never charted form "Loose," but "Maneater" and "No Hay Igual" did. I was weird at 13.
