I don't see why they shouldn't... Because country radio wouldn't like it. Unfortunate, but true.

I believe it is a bonus track from either Best Buy or Target's release of her cd. I think it's better than almost half of the songs on the album! :) I would love to see Teardrops go to Pop, and I think it could do good. It doesn't sound too country, and EVERYONE loves Taylor. <3

Well it's got 37 plays on c1m without a single format leader. :\ If it was just one or two stations it wouldn't be a big deal but 6 stations or more? I dunno...
Dang and I was really looking forward to PTB..
EDIT: Could it be the high ranking of OS on iTunes has (a) got some stations mistakingly convinced it is the next single or (b) 'forced' the label to change the next single?

There's a review here which says "Our Song" is the third single, but I'm not sure how reliable that is. I hope it's right though!

^^ I'm so excited! I would really prefer it to PTB. Me too. I've been wanting "Our Song" as the third single for about sixth months now. I hope an official announcement is made soon. I know "Teardrops On My Guitar" is still doing great, but what's better: letting "Teardrops" stay at #3 for another month, or getting a new single out?

The link you posted showed Our Song going for adds August 7th. That's in just two weeks and Teardrops still has a huge bullet, so I'm kinda bummed if they rush it like that. I know they want to stay on the hot streak without letting her cool down , but I don't think they'd really have to.

I'm really happy if it's true that Our Song is going to be the next single instead of Picture to Burn. I love PTB but I think Our Song will be way more successful. How long has it been since Tim McGraw took off? It seems like this era has been going for a while and after Our Song she still has more songs that could be big hits (Should've Said No).

I don't know if it makes any difference, but last night I was listening to my local station 100.7 The Wolf in Seattle and they have a little 9:00 contest pitting new songs against each other, and they pitted "Our Song" against some song by Montgomery Gentry. "Our Song" won. It's a great song, much better than Picture to Burn, and the previous poster was correct, "Should've Said No" is another awesome song that should definitely be released.
Also, "I'd Lie" was definitely a song that was on the special initial release CD that was sold at Best Buy, and according to something Taylor said to someone on her myspace page who is in the fan club, she is going to include it on her second album, possibly as the lead single. No confirmation, of course, but this is what I've heard. It's her best song so far. Have a nice day!

Ugh... I have to disagree with everyone. I think Picture to Burn is a #1 waiting to happen, while Our Song is fairly mediocre. But, it does seem like that's the next single.

I don't hate "Picture To Burn," but I think "Our Song" would be a better single for her right now. Her first single was about a lost summer love and her second single was about a guy she couldn't have, so I think it would be a little repetitive to have another single about love gone wrong.

At least if she released Picture to Burn, that would be an up-tempo after two ballads. Personally, I think that just about ANYthing she releases now will be a hit, but I don't want to get burned out (no pun intended) on the ballads...

that "Oh my my my" song would be a good choice Yeah it would, but not for a third single. Three straight ballads would be too much. I'd like to see it as the fourth and final single though.

I love I'd Lie and I'd like to have a CD quality version of it, the one I found on Lime Wire isn't the best. It'll definitely be a hit if she decides to release it later on.

According to the calendar on Taylor's site, she will be shooting a video for "Our Song" on August 14th and 15th. It looks like "Our Song" is officially the next single.

Here's a little bit of grist for the mill. Sirius Satellite radio's "Beyond The Buzz" show on Channel 60 every Saturday night has been recently begun playing "Should've Said No". They play songs on this program from artists people haven't heard of yet, or cuts from albums that will be singles down the road to see what people think of them. Over the last year that I've been listening to this program they have about a 90 percent success rate on picking songs that will be singles later on. The songs they play aren't always the "next" single, but are sometimes 1 or 2 singles down the road.
A few songs I've heard on the program that have become hits this year so far have been "Watching You" from Rodney Adkins, "Never Wanted Nothing More" by Kenny, "I Told You So" by Keith Urban, "Wasted" from Carrie Underwood, "Teardrops" by Taylor Swift, "Stand" from Rascal Flatts, "Good Directions" from Billy Currington, and a bunch of others. They played these songs months before they became hits, so perhaps "Should Have Said No" is in contention to be the 4th single from Taylor's album and "Picture to Burn" will be left out. Interesting to think about, because I really like Should Have Said No. The good news is Taylor's album has so many good songs they won't go wrong with whatever they choose. The only other album I've really heard in the last year or two with as many great songs has been Carrie Underwood's. Taylor really is amazing and It's kind of a shame that they are going to "limit" her to just 4 singles. She could easily have 5 or 6. But maybe she has another album in the works and they don't want to wait too long to release it. Who knows.
Anyway, I'm also just really happy and impressed with the success of "Teardrops". I thought it would be a nice top 10 hit and not do as well as "Tim McGraw", but I've been pleasantly disappointed! I certainly never thought it would have a chance at #1, which might now have been lost with the rapid success of Kenny's song, but it's still terrific performance by this song and only demonstrates how good Taylor Swift really is. Good luck to her! Have a nice night everyone. Sorry for rambling so much in this post!
Edit: To make things even more interesting, I just signed up for the Rhapsody music service, and "Picture to Burn" is listed as a single (alternate version" for sale. Hmmm....

^^ Have they announced Taylor's cd is only going 4 singles deep? I think it could go 5 deep too!
And I would love Should've Said No to be the 4th single- But, especially since they had one for Teardrops which I didn't think really needed one, I think there should be a radio mix for it- the album version just has a demo feel to it that's hard to explain. ???

Nah, I don't think there's been any official "announcement", but someone on one of the fansites said that they had spoken to her at a concert and that Taylor had said she was only going to have 4 singles from this CD. But it's only hearsay. Let's hope it's wrong!

Since this wonderful tune isn't nearly done yet, it would be insane for the next single to be released until after Labor Day, IMHO.
No fewer than seven songs among the top dozen at Mediabase (Taylor Swift/Reba & Kelly/Kenny Chesney/Brooks & Dunn/Rodney Atkins/Bucky Covington/Rascal Flatts) have gained at least 250 spins over the past seven days. so her next single needs to be held for several more weeks before it is sent to radio.
If 'Our Song' is indeed the next single, that's fine with me; 'Picture To Burn' would make a great fourth single to open the new year with.

^^ Have they announced Taylor's cd is only going 4 singles deep? I think it could go 5 deep too! The primary objective of releasing songs to radio is to sell albums. Taylor Swift's album has been steady selling and has been building the past few months. I predict that a strong third single will further increase her sales, particularly as it will take her into the holiday season. I think the next single is extremely important for this reason. It better be a good one. It also should showcase another dimension/style to Taylor's singing. So far, her two singles have basically been in the same vein, ballads about a previous love. These are safe picks, but if Taylor and her gang really want to push the sales to the next level they need to go with something different and more adventurous. If she releases more than 3 singles, they should be purposeful and distinctive. That's what will make her a star and take her to the next level. Having said this, I haven't heard any of her songs besides her first two singles so I don't know what else she's got on her album that would best serve this purpose. She sounds promising, as she has a very nice sounding voice, but her songs themselves haven't blown me away.
