How did Blurred Lines get so high? I presume it wasn't on any AC radio, and considering its message, I don't understand why so much stations played it (does that make any sense?)...
Also, another thing I don't get, why the hell did Jeremih release the Don't Tell Em video now?! He couldn't have done it when the song was #6, all over radio.

^ In terms of other "adult" formats, Blurred Lines also got #1 on HAC and UAC, and even top 50 on Triple A (at least on the Mediabase charts)!
On a sort of related note, Stay With Me by Sam Smith went #1 on HAC, AC, UAC and Triple A I believe, have any other songs managed #1 on all those formats before? I can't think of any.

He was apparently having relationship issues and flat-out missed the shoot for the video, so it didn't happen. Only with the new remix did they finally get him in front of the camera again.
As I mentioned in my summary, it wasn't going to affect the charts anyway. It managed to give it an edge over Black Widow, which over the past few weeks its been kissing distance with more often than not, but its already reverted this week, with both songs facing the looming axe of recurrency side-by-side at #47 and #48...
I suppose it could've affected the charts more if they made a big buzz about it like if they sent out the headline "JEREMIH FINALLY FLAUNTS IT IN LONG AWAITED VIDEO FOR HIT SINGLE" to the big music and hiphop sites, but Billboard certainly didn't report on it. In fact, I didn't even realize it came out until Todd in the Shadows released his compilation video of the Worst Songs of 2014, where he used a snippet in his dishonorable mentions.

Why don't we get Mediabase radio updates?! We don't have access to those numbers. It's a subscription based company, and subscriptions are both very expensive and available only to radio insiders. Some members on other forums have access to the numbers, but they can't really hand out all of that info since they'll be found and lose their access. So, we're very limited. Instead, we have Kworb's fairly accurate estimates based off of Mediabase numbers we do have access to thanks to AllAccess. |

Related to something someone said in a previous thread, if 10-12 keep falling and 13 continues those small gains, we might actually have our first country only airplay hit be top 10 in overall airplay :O (if I remember correctly, someone said that this has never happened before). Although Time Of Our Lives could potentially get in the way. Btw I'm pleasantly surprised at TOOL doing a lot better than I initially thought it would! Hopefully it can be a top 10 on the Hot 100!

Come Monday, Luke will start losing audience because it's time for the next country #1 song. That chart works like clockwork every week. Yes, payola works full time in the country chart (i suppose they didn't like it at all when billboard changed the rules of their country chart). They are too busy making songs that sound the same with the same lyrics being number one to play anything remotely interesting which in country lately means sung by a woman (with very few exceptions) Anyway it would be an extraordinary achivement for such uneventful song. He won't be #1 this week even though it would be nice for a romantic song like TOL to be #1 on the Valentine's Day chart issue. However, if he performs it at the Grammys next Sunday then that could give it enough of a sales boost to maybe get a week at #1. I'm really hoping that does happen. He deserves a #1! |

I never thought UF would dominate quite like this. That's what I get for doubting my man Bruno. I'm kind of curious as to how high it will peak on radio. I also can't believe how well it's holding up on digital.

Looks like the only song that has a chance of dethroning UF is TOL. But I see that being difficult. Either TOL is going to need a big boost from the Grammys or have some longevity until UF starts falling.

I think Uptown Funk will be on top for quite a while. It's first few weeks were largely helped by sales, and I think it's radio and streaming domination could allow for it get another 5-6 weeks. This is assuming that nothing will do better than it. I think FourFiveSeconds has a chance. The only other ones I could think of would be Katy's (possible) song tonight, if Adele drops a huge hit at the Grammys, or if somehow One Last Time does (her team is going to promote and release this song well, I feel).
