Interest hasn't waned especially here, this thread pops up a full week before the chart is actually released, sometimes even before last weeks charts are posted online. That doesn't happen without interest.
Complaints about the chart works have always been here and will continue to be

Fall of 2010 was easily one of the most interesting times on the charts. Six songs hitting #1 in six weeks. I don't see that ever happening again, now that streaming is included.

Mediabase and Kworb measure airplay; the numbers you see in this thread are it's AI Yeah, I know. What I meant was that last week Worth it was #25 on Mediabase and #20 on Billboard's Radio chart. Why such a big difference? Adding up the AI from Mediabase's published panels rather than all stations is usually a better indicator for Billboard Radio Songs, since they also exclude certain stations. You can find that here: kworb.net/aipradio/It put Worth It at #22 rather than #25 for the chart you're talking about. kworb.net/aipradio/archives/20150617.htmlYou can't get total "published" AI from Mediabase directly, so traditionally that list has never been posted on any radio forums. And the link above has the usual shortcoming of not picking up the formats where the song has significant AI but is not in the top 50. Also, Mediabase and Nielsen BDS monitor airplay independently, so that's another reason why the numbers are slightly different. But I think that was already mentioned.

Still amazed that Sia keeps chugging along. What was Chandelier's peak audience?

Is it likely that Good For You will debut in the top 10 this week? I would presume so... It'll debut well. But top 10? I'd lean towards no right now. It's not quite doing as well as Can't Feel My Face two weeks ago, for example. But if sales/streaming is high...

Well the video came out yesterday so that might give it decent streaming even though it was late in the tracking week. We will see I guess...

I think Happy was gushing out blood last year. I do recall some -5's for it at least. Blurred Lines may have had similar drops the year before.

SYA's reign has gone by so fast, doesn't feel like it has been ten weeks. I think Bad Blood has a shot for another week or two and then Cheerleader/Fight Song/Good For You/something else will replace it. Surprised it has already fallen to #8 on iTunes

Wasn't Ke$ha's disastrous drops attributed to the Sandy Hook shootings? And that Mariah drop... I can't explain that. Was that a radio deal on its 8th day? That song was actually not half bad.

But this isn't just about complaining for the sake of complaining - turnover in the Top 10 has been slower this year than it has the past several years. That's just objectively true. Someone posted a very nifty list in last week's thread showing how there have been a declining number of Top 10 hits in recent years. Of course, there's quite a few positions below the Top 10 to talk about, but we don't know about most of those (for certain) until Thursday. When the Top 10 is as stagnant as it's been, there's gonna be less to talk about - well, unless records are being challenged. ;) All complaints are valid to a point. Everyone who complaints has a reason for doing so.
The complaints go up usually when there is a rule change or someone's favorite is not #1. The chart however, lives on, we still log in to talk about it well before the release of the actual chart
I wasn't complaining as much as observing the 'shift' in chart turnover with the addition of streaming - I don't think anyone thought that streaming would lead to a logjam - especially during the first few weeks of the 'new' chart when songs were bopping all around - and it was exciting and random when a viral video could cause a 'classic' song to re-enter the chart. With that in mind, there has been a larger slowdown since Billboard tweaked the formula. Let's not act like Billboard's 'formulas' are objective - they are not - they are not - the weighing is very subjective and the practices are not consistent as we've discussed overall. On a positive note, I'm looking forward to "Cheerleader" snatching that No. 1 before FMF takes over.

What makes you think Billboard's formulas aren't objective? To whom would they be biased toward or against?

I really don't get Fight Song's appeal. It's just so bland and boring.

Ar we sure that number is right for "No Sleeep"? It was at almost 6m Quick-Cut yesterday, and it gained around 1m from Urban AC, its primary outlet.

Re: objective/subjective, all I can say is I disagree
Re: stagnation, based on the sales chart, a shakeup is coming. Something new will be #1 soon
Re: "complaining", I was more commenting how interest in this chart has "waned". You have been posting here since 2007, I have been here since 2006. You may have seen the "this chart is lost credibility" or "this chart is over" or something similar get posted every time there is a rule change or someone's favorite that "deserves to be #1" is not listed at the top? However, with each complaint, people keep coming back. We are on page 3, 4 days before the charts get posted online. Anticipation for the next chart is so high around here that the "current" thread shows up often before "last week's" charts even get posted. I would say interest has not waned, in fact I would say it has increased over time since I have been here.

I really don't get Fight Song's appeal. It's just so bland and boring. It's a hit because of its message, not its sound or interest in the artist.

It's very rare for a song to smash solely on the power of a message, but there is one comparable situation to "Fight Song", and it's the song at the top of the charts right now. "See You Again" was written about Paul Walker's death and wouldn't exist had he still been alive. Even if it was somehow written otherwise it wouldn't have been a hit at all. Wiz's star was fading and Charlie was a nobody, and the song is a very generic pop-rap otherwise. SYA only became a hit because of the message (and its transformation into a graduation anthem).
Wiz literally had nothing to do with the song becoming the smash hit it became, and it's not likely to revive his career. You could have some no-name rap it and it still would've been the mega-hit it is. If people are quickly writing Rachel off as a one-hit wonder, then this could possibly be Wiz's last hit as well.

I heard the Wiz-less version of "See You Again" on an AC station earlier- being that no AC stations are likely playing the version with him in it, why is he credited on that chart? I guess the same reason Snoop Dogg's "California Gurls" credit wasn't removed.
