My general thoughts on things throughout the game:
HOH 1: Classmate, AssmateYeah, in hindsight, this comp wasn't the best start but I figure of all the HOHs, this was the best to have a random HOH win and it was something different.
POV 1: Piss on your GraveI expected the competitors to take longer than they did finding the correct order of former members' last posts than they did. I don't know how you guys found them faster than I was able to.
HOH 2: The World's Hardest Gamewww.addictinggames.com/action-games/theworldshardestgame.jspPOV 2: Lingowww.gsn.com/cgi/free/play.pl?game_id=117HOH 3: PMA Red Carpet SpecialThis was a hot mess for sure and probably the biggest screw up for me, lol. I felt so terrible that most of you had themes that weren't passed along. To be fair, nobody's themes were passed to the judges so everyone was still rated equally. If I knew more about fashion, I'd probably have made having a theme a necessary component to this comp though.
POV 3: Hot Air Bloonninjakiwi.com/Games/Bloons-Games/Play/Hot-Air-Bloon.html#.VZCJ7xNVikoHOH 3b: Big Brother PointlessPOV 3b: Pulse's ChoiceDouble EvictionI wanted the double eviction week to take place within a few hours total. lmao. This was the start of the difficulties with the timing of everything.
Start of JuryThe jury started with Mikey but it wasn't until JUST before the eviction that Codex said something in his Diary Room about it and when I went over everything again, I realized the numbers were off because of Jessielou expulsion. Jury was supposed to be 7 people, not 9. Which kind of fucked a lot up because had Jessielou not been kicked out and everything went as planned, Codex wouldn't have made jury.
Also, the start of Jury had to take place because the week of three nominees because the way it lined up, if 2 people were evicted that week, only one would have made it if jury was 7 people but due to numbers, it wouldn't have worked out like that so we had to start it earlier than intended.
Also, speaking of the triple-nomination week (the week Popstop was nominated in the Down The Road twist), if two people had been evicted that week, when it came time to do the "buyback", there would have been 2 people return to the house instead of 1. Another Big Brother first. :kii:
And speaking of the
Down The Road twist, I wanted to cancel that at the last minute after the Red Carpet Special comp because popstop felt screwed over and I felt horrible with him having an auto-nomination. I was so glad Zebra chose to use his POV on him tbh. lol
For those who don't remember that twist, it was when you all were asked to pick 3 players you thought would most likely win the game. Here's how everyone voted:
3 Albie - voted by ed1996, josh, musicguy
1 bigfan101 - voted by bigfan101
5 Codex - voted by Liucci, froot.loop, popstop, codex, jessielou
1 ed1996 - voted by josh
2 Fancy - voted by Albie, popstop
2 indulgecountry - voted by Liucci, popstop
7 Josh - voted by ed1996, Zebra, Albie, Mikey, froot.loop, indulgecountry, jessielou
1 Liucci - codex
2 Mikey - voted by josh, Mikey
1 Musicguy - voted by indulgecountry
9 Popstop - voted by ed1996, Zebra, Liucci, Albie, froot.loop, indulgecountry, musicguy, codex, jessielou
3 Spidey - voted by Zebra, bigfan101, musicguy
2 Zebra - voted by bigfan101, Mikey
HOH 4: How Long?!? (playlist comp)
Codex literally had strategies for a lot of competitions that nobody else did. This was one of them, and I was super impressed at how close he was for most of the playlists. We didn't give enough information for the songs in each playlist but there was enough to do some calculations with and Codex definitely did that with the averaging out the time of Xmas songs, Gaga songs, etc. This was one of the ones he got 2nd place in.
POV 4: Dollars TossI was so excited about this comp having 2 winners, one for highest and one for lowest. It was perfect!
HOH 5: Look at this Photograph, that we put this love inThis was one of the hardest comps to set up because I didn't know just how easy was too easy or how hard was too hard. I think it was definitely too hard as I took for granted how familiar everyone would be with the items. It was a situation where I knew what each thing was so when I was cropping the images, I tried to make it so that it looked unrecognizable to me.
Final Laugh twistThis was a last minute add-in after I saw it on the real Big Brother. Only 3 people participated in it, Popstop, Albie and Fancy. Only popstop got all the questions right, which blocked Acetic Acid's vote. Fancy also blocked AA's vote while Albie chose to have Fancy's vote blocked. The winner of this competition was never revealed. I forget if the answers were but just in case, here they are:
Q: For which month and year was the first Random Thoughts thread made?
A: February 2004 (I thought it was March and had to ask Popstop to link me to the February one. For the record, all three said February for this one lmao! #mess)
Q: For what month did Random Thoughts threads receive the most posts?
A: August 2010 received the most. RT threads at that time were divided up when they reached a certain amount of pages because the boards became unstable and threads that got too big toppled. This month, RT went 6 threads deep, up to Part VI, over 16,000 posts in total.
The single largest RT thread was July 2011, which had 6,842 posts. (not the correct answer)
Q: What month did they receive the least?
A: April 2005 (back when it was still new, this thread had 43 posts)
Q: Who has created the most Random Thoughts threads?
A: Mike Hunt
Q: The Random Thoughts thread for May had 939. When was the last time a Random Thoughts thread had under 1,000 posts?
A: September 2009 (895 posts)
POV 5: Bogglewww.wordplays.com/boggleHOH 6: Hot 100 SoothsayerPretty standard comp. Classic!
Longterm Veto twistThere was a secret veto awarded to the person whose pick in the initial questionnaire for favourite song in the Hot 100 was highest on the current Hot 100. Of the remaining players, here's how the results went:
bigfan101: take your time #37
fancy: lean on #6
acetic acid: style n/c
indulgecountry: love me like you mean it #87
josh: house party #32
liucci: worth it #15
popstop: hey mama #18
zebra: girl crush #42
Fancy won the secret POV, which he was eligible to use for 2 POV ceremonies if he chose to, but he wasn't allowed to tell anyone he had it. He chose not to use it at either POV ceremony.
Pandora's BoxWe had a Pandora's Box planned and I REALLY wanted to use it but I couldn't think of a suitable reward that would equally benefit everyone without having too much of an affect on the actual game. But the challenge was that whoever was chosen was going to be required to quote 5 posts over a period of 24 hours in the BB thread and change something about the original quote to change the context of them. If these all went unnoticed, the prize would be awarded. If someone noticed something, there would be a punishment for the person - something like they can only post in Taylor Swift lyrics for x number of posts over y number of days.
That and we couldn't figure out how to choose someone to do this challenge because we didn't really have a big enough audience to ask for a popular vote.
#fail
POV 6: Splashbackninjakiwi.com/Games/Puzzle/Play/Splashback.html#.VZCKoBNVikoHOH 7: AbsentI wouldn't say I regret this competition because I think as an endurance comp, it was a good idea, but it definitely change the game dynamic after a bit. Plus, when this competition was planned, I had no idea who would even be playing the game so when this Liucci guy showed up out of nowhere to play, he barely posted anywhere else so I knew he'd be the one to win it - or he would have if there wasn't a point in which the comp was going to end. The incentives were last minute additions because we quickly realized that people could go days or more without posting anywhere. I figured more people would jump at them though... The POV-R, I thought, was a neat idea when it hit me, though after popstop won it, I realized it probably wasn't as powerful as I initially thought.
POV 7: Power MashupThis was another one I wasn't sure how easy or hard to make it. Most everyone did decently in it so it probably wasn't as hard as I was afraid of.
HOH 8: CHR/Pop Pop Radio PredictionI think this comp was originally planned for some other time as a POV, but the way things were timed, we had to do some last minute moving around of stuff a few times over the course of the game. It was also originally going to be just predict the number of spins the #6 song was going to have, but that was too simple for an HOH comp.
POV 8: Pop Culture TriviaThis one was all Surf (except the Bob Marley question.
I use that example so many times on Pulse whenever the discussion of songwriting credits comes up.
#beyonce)
Twist: Eviction SwapSo the original plan was, if there had been 2 evicted players in week 4, there would have been 2 returning players this week. This was decided after Jessielou was expelled, of course, so it wasn't an original plan. Of course, we didn't have to go through with it because Popstop was saved in week 4 and only one person was evicted. This swap (or buyback as everyone called it, wtf?) was probably the most controversial of the whole game. I didn't really notice how late it was but considering Jury was only supposed to have 7 people, not 9, the original plan was to have 3 people compete instead of the 5 that ended up competing. So that's why it worked out the way it did. We just didn't adjust when the swap/buyback would take place when the start of Jury was adjusted. To be fair though, Codex was only out for weeks 5-8, or 4 of the total 13 game cycles. A bit more than average but it wasn't as long as everyone made it out to be.
HOH 9: Now! PulseThis was another comp I was excited about.
POV 9: ProfilingThis was one of many comps from now until the end of the game that relied on the actions of people in the game. In this case, this was another comp that used the original questionnaire from the start of the game.
The same questionnaire that determined the first HOH, who played in the first POV comp, and Fancy's secret POV. We really milked that questionnaire lmao.
HOH 10: Before/AfterThis was fun for me. lol
POV 10: 2048gabrielecirulli.github.io/2048/HOH 11: Pulse HuntThis HOH comp was originally going to be 20 Questions but when reviewing the first and second Pulse BBs, I remembered this one and forced it in there because I figured this comp would be much more fun to do, and it was I hope.
POV 11: Who Said ItAnother one I enjoyed that involved me picking quotes and lines from everyone's diary rooms. I tried to get at least one from everyone but some of them were hard, especially josh who barely said anything most of the time. lmao! Yet his DR is probably one of the longest.
HOH 12-1: 20 QuestionsThis was my least favourite competition of the entire game, as I said before, and I didn't realize it until after it started how much I didn't like it. By this point, I think everyone had checked out - I was pretty much done too, and I just wanted this comp to end. lol. The original plan was 5 Minutes, where everyone had to post once every 5 minutes until only one person remained. But timing was an issue throughout the entire game and we couldn't get this to work. But damn it, I hated this comp. It might have worked better earlier on when everyone cared lmao.
HOH 12-2: Player's MapThis was my favourite competition and it was a lot of fun to organize, even if it was tough to find things in common between players and make them all link together.
HOH 12-3: True/FalseQuick and easy, even if I thought indulgecountry threw it. lmao
