Random. What if you start a song at the halfway point of streaming or even the end? How much of a stream counts towards its points? Anyone know?
Spotify mainly.

A 30 second stream shouldn't count as much as a full stream.

At least 6 of those are legit classics and still known today. I wonder how many songs in the current top 10 will be anywhere near that status in 50 years.

A 30 second stream shouldn't count as much as a full stream. but they can't monitor how much of it you listen to...

That's such a cheap shot at diminishing today's music. Even the way hits are measured and the way songs are made to be hits is vastly different than it was back in those days. Popularity then and popularity now are so different. Not that I'm saying you're taking a cheap shot, but that tends to be one of the lines people use to trash talk music today.

Well they monitor that, it's like a scrobble, but i don't think they are going to waste their time sorting through how many streaming points you get for someone listening for 30 seconds vs. 1 minute vs. 2 minutes vs. full song.

I believe the 30 second mark is when Spotify will pay the artist/label for the stream; regardless if you listen to the rest of the song or not.

If you look at the YouTube analytics, you can see the average time people stop watch a video, so they know how long each user is watching a video. I'm sure all streaming services can track this as well.

It's not going to happen unless the streaming is through the roof. It's only at #12 right now and Bieber is going to sell 3x its sales. Her radio isn't there yet

No idea why but part of me is saying Downtown will probably be the biggest song in the long run out that, WDYM and Wildest Dreams.

WD won't be top 5 next week and after that it's all about how steady its sales vs. airplay going will be. I have a feeling it might miss top 5 a la Style.
The video has 3.2m views worldwide so far, not bad but not amazing either.

I must be the only one who thinks Drag Me Down has a shot at top 10 this week. You probably are. It's gonna take a lot of sales and streaming to make up for the fact that it's barely top 50 on airplay. Top 20 probably, top 15 possible. Not top 10 though. There are too many other songs like Locked Away and Photograph vying for the top ten which have much more points overall.

But it currently has 35 million views on YouTube WW, and although I didn't see how much it had on Friday, I presume around 25M. #50 on Kworb Overall AI, 71K. Not sure, #11/#12 seems very likely, but I'm not discounting the idea of top 10. We will find out soon.. :)

I forgot the video came out lol. I was skeptical about it having that big of a rebound based on a slight sales and radio audience increase. Anyway, I do hope Renegades will be a future top ten hit!

Am I crazy for assuming Gary Trust's "soars into the Top 10" is a One Direction reference (due to the video)?
