^ Ariana may not be THAT big of a star (i.e. Justin Bieber/One Direction big), but her songs always go high on iTunes immediately after release. For example The Way, Baby I, Problem, etc. Not sure about #1 but her new single will have a high debut I reckon.
She should probably try and release the week before the Hotline Bling video comes out.

So there is not even a release date yet? And we are discussing this?

You know, I'm wondering. Why does it seemed, especially since 2011, Alt hits crossover to Pop/HAC seemed to be easier than it is for Country hits to do so? I mean, this year alone, we already have two major Alt crossover (TMTC and SUAD), and if you want to count FOB, that's two more (Uma and Centuries), not to mention the smaller ones (Someone New, Cecilia, I Bet My Life), and the two that's currently climbing up (Renegades and Ex's and Oh's), while not even Sam Hunt managed to go top 20 in Pop.
Thoughts?

So there is not even a release date yet? And we are discussing this? The song's release date is October 30. We can pretty safely assume an hourly iHeartRadio deal the same day, although I don't know that the video has been confirmed. In terms of sales, Problem was a stroke of perfection in terms of the marketing + timing. -- There was the aggressive pre-order campaign (for the single), which surely banked a six-figure sales total prior to the release. -- She debuted this at the Radio Disney Music Awards moments before the song went up on iTunes. -- The song featured Iggy, whose Fancy was exploding at the time. I think they're on the right track with this launch -- the early announcement was a great idea -- but it's hard to be 100% confident they can recreate the magic of those other factors.

Thoughts? Country has always had a very hard time crossing over to pop/adult radio during any time period. Overall, if you look at it it's quite rare in fact. It's just much more of a niche genre.

So... The Weeknd shakes out those two remixes out of nowhere to keep Drake from stealing his throne? Now it turns from "crew love" to "crew war"! Haha

Does anyone know if Billboard will delay the charts for a day because of the holiday weekend, similar to what they did for Labor Day?

For Columbus Day? I doubt it. Other than federal services, everything is open tomorrow.

I'm curious what's your way of deciding which star is bigger than another? Twitter follower? Debut week sales? News exposure?

The Eminem remix of The Hills will count towards the total sales of The Hills right? If so, it looks like 5-6 weeks at #1 is a sure thing for the song
I would like Ariana to get her first number one, but moreover I really want Hotline Bling to reach #1 (please release that video soon, Drake!) so I really hope one doesn't prevent the other...

I'm curious what's your way of deciding which star is bigger than another? Twitter follower? Debut week sales? News exposure? Just real life experiences tbh. It might vary depending on where you are in the world, for example Ariana is less successful in most other countries than she is in the US. Also, I think the fact that Justin Bieber and One Direction have been famous since around 2010, compared to Ariana since 2013 makes a difference too. In a lot of the world Ariana Grande is a 1-hit wonder to a 3-hit wonder who got famous a year ago (although I personally knew her since The Way, many people didn't until Problem). I don't think she's comparable to Justin Bieber or One Direction lol. She more comparable to Meghan Trainor or Iggy Azalea (which isn't a bad thing of course!). However, I've followed her in the US since her debut single. Her songs DO tend to sell very well on release week. #1 is possible with a radio deal and music video release, but not certain.

Should we be expecting a Top 5 peak for 'Wildest Dreams' or 'Stiches' over the next few weeks? I really want WD to hit the top 5 (my fav from 1989 along with 'Style') and it's doing well on sales (surprisingly so) and radio. Bad streaming numbers tho. 'Stitches' is doing great too, I'm so glad he's finally having some single-success :)

From chart news: Thinking Out Loud by @edsheeran becomes the 1st song to reach 500 million streams on @spotify.
That well explains why I never want to use Spotify.

The draft link went up; as expected "The Hills" is still #1, while "Hotline Bling" moves up to #2.

From chart news: Thinking Out Loud by @edsheeran becomes the 1st song to reach 500 million streams on @spotify. That well explains why I never want to use Spotify. Ummm... The idea of spotify is that you can listen to whatever you want.

'Stitches' is doing great too, I'm so glad he's finally having some single-success :) I think Wildest Dreams could peak in the top 5. Once Silento finally starts to drop and Fetty fades, Taylor could ascend to say 4 or 5. But I think that's its peak now. Can't see it reaching the top. Stitches will probably peak no higher than 6 or 7 and that's if he gets some momentum at the same time some songs ahead of Stitches loses theirs.
