Speaking of sincere songwriting, I Took a Pill in Ibiza is, in my opinion, dramatic, evocative in a real way and it's more than beautiful. Mike's voice is calm and imbued with a whiff of sadness, and it's good because it's not affected, and not overcompensating like 7 Years (which is honestly REALLY uncomfortable to listen to). just so you know, if I could choose between ITAPII and 7 Years to be #1 next week, I'd choose ITAPII as I like it a lot more than 7Y. Unfortunately, even I am saying that realistically ITAPII has very little chance at being #1 at all. That's why my next choice is 7Y followed by NO, with Work at the very bottom because...well I'm sure everyone here knows how I feel about it being #1 this long lol. Funny thing, the coffee shop I'm in now is playing her other song "Stay" (which I'd rather have at #1 than Work). It's midnight. You're in a coffee shop? So romantic!

I don't want WFH to even enter Top 11. IT'S RIDICULOUSLY TERRIBLE AND IT'S actually better than Worth It. Whoa

Lol at the idea that 7 Years could cause depression. Nostalgia =/= mental illness. Jesus Christ. Au$tin, listening to 7 Years can cause depression TO ME, that's all I've been saying. Thank you! Okay, that's strange (sounds like more of a problem on your end, not the song's), but you didn't have to quote me three different times over several hours to make that point.

^Shocked "Love Yourself" is still #1 on that list. Not like it matters though, Flo Rida will surely take over next week. Also, what is the first week that covers that list?

I'm seeing the new Taylor Swift commercial that uses "Jumpman" all over the Internet. At least one 'version' is categorized as Music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fK_zwl-lnmc) so we could see "Jumpman" make a big move due to streaming.

Yes, this is Week 12 of 2016. Thanks for posting. It's nice to see some actual data in the H100 thread. I think Apple's .69 cent sale and the sheer number of titles that have been in the Top 100 the past few days shows how low sales have fallen. After going all those years where sales just didn't matter and then the rise of digital tracks, it's hard to believe it happened again so quickly! I imagine there will be another 'calibration' on H100 fairly soon. At some point, radio audiences also will drop sharply as streaming cuts into that. I'm even close to cutting SIRIUS as I'm using Spotify Premium more and more in car.

lol...I wonder if My House ends up being the top-selling song of 2016. It'll be pretty bizarre, but pretty underwhelming nonetheless. Didn't Uptown Funk have like 3x that many sales of 2015 by this point last year?

Sounds like exactly what happened. I don't believe that Charlie Puth was close to Paul Walker at all. Or at least nowhere near, say, Lukas and his father. The songwriting in 7 years feels much more personal, as if Lukas was writing to someone he knew and loved dearly, which was the case. See You Again just sounds like unrelated songwriters were asked to make a tribute song. It's the problem I have with Puth's other songs too, as well as songs like Bruno Mars' "Grenade". They're trying so hard to be over-dramatic, yet lack the believability that you need to pull these kinds of songs off. Do you know the term "hindsight bias"? I'm sorry, but I feel like that's all about you. When I first listened to 7 Years, I looked up the lyrics but knew nothing about the fact that it's written for his father. And I did hear some personal emotions for sure, it's just that, based simply on his vocal performanceI itself, I REALLY didn't feel that the song sounds like it's to someone close. Actually upon first listen, I felt that this song's written to himself. I don't deny that 7 Years does contain emotions that are pure and wonderful, but I REALLY don't think he expressed those emotions in a comfortable way. His band is sincere in the songwriting and everything for sure. But it doesn't mean it's the most effective or most evocative one. I believe you're correct that the song is about himself and him being a father in the future but the reflection that inspired it was his father's death. After his father died he apparently he went in a downhill spiral for a couple years with finances (the band is very big in Scandinavia where they're multiplatinum artists and they play to 10,000 plus crowds there) & people using him for money, got into drugs and the all the usual suspects. After he came out of it and sobered up, he wrote several songs that in some way touched on his father's death if not literally about that. Some of the stuff in the song, like doing drugs as an 11 or 12 year old is supposedly true. He grew up in some self governing hippie dippie commune in Copenhagen called Christiania.

Why is Beyonce's "Halo" gaining on iTunes?
Also, why is "Gold Digger" gaining as well? And Usher's "Yeah!"?
