^Either 7 Years or ITAPII. ITAPII lol I wish... For #1? Then both! 7 Years will top the 4/30 chart and ITAPII will be #1 in late May or early June. But they both already hit #1 in England.

What do you mean by this? Sales have always been part of the formula, even when they were practically zero (physical sales in the early noughties) Also, the number one has been steady around 100-200k for a while now... In 2015, "Bad Blood" was the last multi-week "big" (above 200k) seller before sales dipped down to where they are now with a few exceptions: "Cheerleader" had a single week at 276k, all other weeks were below 200k "Drag Me Down" debuted with 349k "Locked Away" had a week below 100k at 91k. The only week in 2015 to be below 100k. "What Do You Mean?" debuted with 337k, all other weeks below 200k "Hello" debuted with 1.112m, and sold over 200k for an additional 4 weeks. So far, in 2016: "Hello" was the #1 during the Christmas Rush with 327k. "PILLOWTALK" debuted with 267k. "Piece by Piece" sold 210k after the American Idol performance. Other than those 12 weeks, the number one between the July 4th, 2015 and April 9th, 2016 chart has hovered between 100-200k. Certainly a decline from the beginning of 2015, but it isn't like sales are continuing to drastically decline. They saw a decline due to streaming starting around 2013, and in 2015 streaming saw a huge uptick, digital sales saw a nice decline. The decline has since plateaued. "Cheerleader" really never actually did have a week over 200k sales. That week where it "sold" 276k was the week where we were transitioning from the old tracking period to the new tracking period and the tracking period for that week used 11 days.

But they both already hit #1 in England. Yeah that's why I like the UK chart better lol. Plus Lush Life has already reached the top 3 in the UK, but I still hold out hope that that one will smash in the USA and Canada too.

Just curious it's not in the top 50, but that's because songs that have gone recurrent on the Hot 100 are still in the top 50 lol so since those aren't on the Hot 100 it probably still has a chance

you're joking right? It's Idol's final season, so everyone will buy and stream the winner's single The ratings are nowhere near what Idol used to be (although it's up from last year) and personally I don't think any of the 3 remaining finalists have that much potential. If the song is maybe good or have an emotional live performance like Fantasia's I BELIEVE type of winning moment then maybe but the last time Idol had a #1 debuting coronation song was DO I MAKE YOU PROUD 10 years ago and that was when physical sales are still relevant to the idol coronation songs. The last coronation song that made an impact was Philip Phillips's Home and that still had some bump from being the Olympics song This season only Kelly's Piece by Piece live performance had an impact on sales Maybe the songs of the alumni appearing on the finale will get some bump. We will see next week

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I've noticed since Apple Music launched, country songs have been charting a lot higher on the iTunes Top 100 (that may have always been the case and I just never noticed)

R&B songs are streamed a lot so sales fell. Country sales stayed the same so they are charting higher. Does this sound right?

That's what I was thinking :) The highest country song I can see on the Spotify US chart is Die A Happy Man at #111 (although I'm probably missing one, it peaked at #34 and it's 2am here)

WTF?!?!? The success of "Panda" is crazy right now. It gained another million streams on Spotify. Is there any reason why this is gaining so quickly??? I don't get it either. Is it because of the Kanye sample?

Is it because of the Kanye sample? It's basically another vine hit. I've heard it used in a lot of vines and other social media.
