Didn't Sail re-enter a bunch of times? Only once, that was on the 02/09/13 chart.

If Purple Rain hits #1 (though I don't think it's very likely), then would that make it the longest gap between a song's release date and the week it peaked at #1 in Hot 100 history? I believe the proper answer to this is Sheriff's "When I'm With You", released Stateside in the spring of 1983, originally peaking at #61, then hitting #1 the week of February 4, 1989 on a re-release. That's the current recordholder in this category, I do believe.

So, 5-6 years depending on the months. That would be close to the Sheriff song.

But actually, I'd still say Sheriff wins - their gap is 5 years and 8/9 months (WIWY charted May-June 83), while Billy's would be 5 years and not quite 6 months (charted 9/19-10/3/81, so release would be somewhere late Summer/early Fall 81 - and it hit #1 January 24, 1987).

I haven't done much, so I don't think When Doves Cry will be in the Top 5. Maybe Top 10 if he's lucky. Purple Rain would be a regular 2016 hit at the rate it is going now. Anyways, the early predictions. Top 10 Dropouts: Me Myself and I Love Yourself PILLOWTALK
1. Purple Rain 2. Panda 3. One Dance 4. 7 Years 5. Work 6. Formation 7. ITAPII 8. Work From Home 9. When Doves Cry 10. NØ

Love Yourself has been top ten for 23 weeks now, and it should be its final week.

Not only Beyoncé will be charted next week, will Drake will also dominating the next week's chart because of his tracks from new album "Views from the 6" (which coming this week)?

Well, the Kworb projections are in.
Purple Rain - 391k When Doves Cry - 261k Formation (probably inaccurate, along with all the other Beyonce songs) - 246k Little Red Corvette - 222k Let's Go Crazy - 210k Kiss - 189k 1999 - 187k Raspberry Beret - 156k Sorry - 150k Hold Up - 145k 6 Inch - 132k I Would Die 4 U - 129k I Wanna Be Your Lover - 108k One Dance - 100k Panda - 88k 7 Years - 76k
Since Kworb projections usually end up being a bit lower than the actual results, I'm pretty sure Purple Rain has that 400k in the bag, especially considering other outlets have to be taken into account as well. Not quite the 500k I was predicting, but it looks like this might be enough to snag that #1 spot.
Also, wow, 14 songs selling at least 100k. Is that a new record for this year? :O

Also, I wouldn't say Black And Yellow has no pop elements at all. It may not have as many as stuff like Thrift Shop, Work, See You Again, etc. but it still has a sung chorus and is produced by Stargate (who made songs like Only Girl and Firework). Regardless, it's still much more urban than it is pop, including the production. Plus it's mostly just Wiz rapping, and other rap songs without pop elements have had sung choruses before, so I think the fact stands.

They changed the rule I think the exact week Whitney passed in 2012, although I guess Thriller re-entered a couple times after that, and maybe a couple other songs, like Billie Jean the week that high school kid put out that dance video. I'm quite pleased to see One Dance shoot up to #3, we don't see moves like that too often, and the song is really good, especially Wizkid's part. Also glad to see ITAPII make top 5. These two songs are definitely my favorites in the current top 5...I just hope Panda doesn't stay too long.

7 Years finally outpacing Work but another song blocks it at #1, tough luck but I've seen that case to a lot of songs since I became a chart geek

I wouldn't at all be surprised if that happens in this case.

If Purple Rain is the song of choice next week to enter number one, it will do so on less than 7 days streaming. His official VEVO page still lacks that video (although When Doves Cry and the other four songs that are selling well/charting this week are all included on that page).

This is his official VEVO account on YouTube, and all it has is the BTS for "Breakfast Can Wait." (see also: the VEVO.com account, which also has an interview and a song on which he's supposedly featured).

What makes 1999's history so interesting is that it has charted in three different decades. I can't think of any non-seasonal songs that have done that.

If Purple Rain does manage to re-enter at the top, I wonder if it'll be the first #1 song (I think...) to spend only one week in the top 10 (not including its past run).

This is the Vevo account I'm referring to: PRINCE VEVOIt's got a selection of 16 Prince music videos as we speak. Not sure if this is a second official channel or we're looking at a clever fan.
