If Purple Rain does manage to re-enter at the top, I wonder if it'll be the first #1 song (I think...) to spend only one week in the top 10 (not including its past run). I don't know for certain if there's been a song in the past to spend its lone week in the top 10 at #1, but I feel like it has already happened once before. Perhaps one of the Idol #1's back in the Mid-2000's?

This is the Vevo account I'm referring to: PRINCE VEVOIt's got a selection of 16 Prince music videos as we speak. Not sure if this is a second official channel or we're looking at a clever fan. It doesn't have the little grey box thingy with a checkmark inside, so that means it's not a verified channel.

Fantasia had only two weeks in the top ten- that's currently the least number of weeks for a #1 song. John Lennon had the record before that with only three weeks.

It was originally released as a single in 1981 and went to #1 in 1987, I think. So, 5-6 years depending on the months. That would be close to the Sheriff song. LOL I forgot about "At This Moment". But actually, I'd still say Sheriff wins - their gap is 5 years and 8/9 months (WIWY charted May-June 83), while Billy's would be 5 years and not quite 6 months (charted 9/19-10/3/81, so release would be somewhere late Summer/early Fall 81 - and it hit #1 January 24, 1987). UB40's "Red Red Wine" comes pretty close too. #1 in the US five years after it hit #1 in the UK. Released Aug 1983 Went #1 in Oct 1988

Hello is at #36 in its 26th week. It didn't have longevity as we expected.

Oh please. It only lacked 'longevity' if you fail to account for Adele skipped a few steps. For most songs, reaching #1 comes around the middle of a chart run. Adele jumped the build-up stages and skipped straight to smashing.
Basically, people who try to downplay or under-represent the chart performance of 'Hello' don't understand jack.

This week must be the biggest Hot 100 mess in history of Pulse Nope. See: "Boyfriend" being blocked from #1, "Harlem Shake"'s debut and the weeks that followed it, "See You Again" hitting #1, etc. For REAL fun, check out the end of the old iTunes thread when "Skyscraper" hit #1 there!

tbh I never expected "hello" to get a lot of longevity in the first place because of it's massive first few weeks, which are enough for a long chart run on their own

Yeah between the early huge sales of "Hello" and then the massive album sales, "Hello" was never going to have sales longevity. Adele also doesn't really play the streaming game too much either. In terms of its actual chart points, though, it has done more in its run than songs with more chart longevity.

I meant the several different thread created etc, this discussion itself was (almost) followable.
