I think it`s gonna be close, but I say Drake will take the #1 this week largely on streaming merit
One Dance: sales + airplay + streams = 126k/9 + 125M/10 + 30M/12k = 51.5k (approximate) CAN'T STOP THE FEELING: sales + airplay + streams = 207k/9 + 110M/10 + 18M/12k = 49k (also approximate)

Funny how the first half of 2015 only gave us 1 debut top 10 (Sugar), and now in 2016 there're 8.

^I think that's a reflection of how the charts affect record label release strategies. In the pre-digital days, there used to be a cadence of: release to radio, then in a few weeks released a video, then in a few weeks release the single for sale, and all that built up to big debuts, but it often took months from the song being chosen as a single and actually hitting the chart.
In the modern era, the idea of releasing a song to radio without purchase or streaming capability would be chart suicide (witness how "Formation" completely missed the Hot 100 despite being the most talked about song of the late winter, until it just now finally became available widely), so labels are putting all their effort into a big bang trying to release everything together as fast as possible for the big impact. "Shake It Off," "Hello," and "Pillowtalk" were just a few examples of some pretty excellent marketing work to make their #1 debuts happen.

I've never gotten an answer before, but why are the billboard charts of the week "06/04/16" that's in 2 weeks??? Why is it dated this way That's roughly the end (or maybe beginning, somebody back me up on whichever one's correct) of the time frame of when the print magazine is on typical storefronts, e.g. a magazine shop at a travel center, a bookstore, a supermarket, etc. It is for the last day of the week (always Saturday) for which the chart is assigned. It is always dated in the future like that because the period they actually use to track the data comes before (even more confusing though, the tracking period doesn't follow the traditional Sunday-Saturday week period, they use a Friday-Thursday period for most charts). If they want to assign the chart date to the period they actually track, they would have to use a date that has already passed, but I guess they don't want to do it that way because it doesn't seem current. Also, can these types of questions be relegated to the general chart procedures thread or can we create a FAQ section for them? They seem to appear over and over.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since Ridin' was #1. That was probably my favorite song of that year. A great message

With regards to top 10 debuts, I think the formula change earlier this year has made it a bit easier too. Obviously we'd still have more top 10 debuts regardless, but with the old formula songs like Work, Dangerous Woman, Summer Sixteen and Piece By Piece may not have debuted in the top 10.
I can understand the formula change because sales were falling below 20% of the overall chart points and that's quite low. But at the same time them up-weighting sales means if you can sell about 150,000 debut week and have decent first-week airplay (radio deal) and streaming (music video) you can debut top 10 quite easily now.

08 15 Fastlove - George Michael George's last top 10 hit. America did him so wrong post bathroom scandal. :( Not only that, but his last H100 appearance! His closest: Star People '97 at 101. I don't think any other singles even hit Bubbling Under. Sadly, he torpedoed his career in so many ways.

Yeah, I don't think it was as much the bathroom scandal (a hot song would have overcome that, the same as it did for R. Kelly and MJ)...it was his battles with Sony. The same thing happened with Prince after his fight with Warner Bros. You can have whatever personal scandals you want, but you don't mess with the people who decide what's popular.

George's image was to blame. Well before the 1998 scandal, his songs became moody, dark and introspective. His upbeats were disco flavored (not in line with '90s US radio dance trends). He could have helped image-wise in 1990 and 1991 by appearing in videos, but the damage was done. It's like, why did Phil Collins dry up? Both were seen by radio programmers as 'belonging' more to the Big 80s, than the alternative 90s.

Predictions: Rank | Song | Sales | Airplay | Streams | Points | 1 | One Dance | 130 | 120 | 32.0 | 53,100 | 2 | Panda | 90 | 70 | 38.0 | 48,700 | 3 | Can't Stop The Feeling | 205 | 105 | 16.0 | 46,600 | 4 | 7 Years | 60 | 130 | 15.5 | 32,600 | 5-7 | I Took A Pill in Ibiza | 60 | 115 | 13.5 | 29,400 | 5-7 | Work From Home | 55 | 100 | 16.0 | 29,400 | 5-7 | Don't Let Me Down | 80 | 85 | 14.0 | 29,100 | 8-10 | PILLOWTALK | 25 | 105 | 10.0 | 21,600 | 8-10 | Needed Me | 35 | 35 | 17.0 | 21,500 | 8-10 | Work | 25 | 55 | 15.5 | 21,200 |
That is an approximation of how PILLOWTALK is still in the top 10, AP . It's all numbers and math.

New peaks for Cheap Thrills, Just Like Fire, Close (I think?). The last two will benefit from the BBMAs and Sia is apparently going to be on The Voice tomorrow, so they are likely going up again next week.

That is an approximation of how PILLOWTALK is still in the top 10, AP . It's all numbers and math. thank goodness ITAPII is still that far ahead of Work. When they said Work was #8 and ITAPII was #7 I was pretty appalled and worried about which one falls out first. If there's a virtual tie between 8 and 10, does that mean Work might be out of the top ten next week? (Say if Ariana or Adele hit the top ten next week)
