Thanks guys.... But it feels like I'm on deathbed or something.... :) I am not going away and will keep visiting(although less frequently)... it's just that I don't think I would regualrly be able to post full Top-10 predictions.... I would still chime in, if I can, on the interesting weeks.
My new life begins on Monday (been studying for this job all my life)... so wish me luck and good luck to you all!!

Well, I guess this was just bound to happen: www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/legal-and-management/7495959/the-chainsmokers-chart-topping-closer-now-credits-2The Chainsmokers' Chart-Topping 'Closer' Now Credits 2 Members of the Fray as WritersTwo members of the rock band The Fray are now credited as co-writers on The Chainsmokers' No. 1 smash, "Closer." When it was released this summer, "Closer" drew comparisons to The Fray's 2005 hit, "Over My Head (Cable Car)." Now, the listing for "Closer" on the website for performance rights organization ASCAP includes Fray lead singer Isaac Slade and guitarist Joe King. A representative for The Fray confirmed that Slade and King are co-writers of "Closer." Reps for ASCAP and The Chainsmokers wouldn't comment. The Chainsmokers include Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. The EDM duo's other hits are "Don't Let Me Down," ''Roses" and "Selfie." "Closer" was also co-written by Taggart, Shaun Frank, Frederic Kennett and Halsey, who sings on the track. "Over My Head" peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Last year Sam Smith gave Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne writing credit on his mega-hit "Stay With Me" after some said it sounded like Petty's 1989 song, "I Won't Back Down." Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars did the same thing last year for their worldwide hit "Uptown Funk" — they extended credit to the five writers of Gap Band's 1979 hit "Oops Upside Your Head" because of similarities. Both "Stay With Me" and "Uptown Funk" won record of the year at the Grammy Awards in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Most famously last year, a jury awarded Marvin Gaye's children $7.4 million after finding Robin Thicke and Pharrell's "Blurred Lines" copied their father's hit "Got to Give It Up." For the record, I still don't hear the actual similarity.

I guess, though, adding The Fray to the credits is either an admission of guilt or just a way to not get sued... The tempo in the former is also faster and the exact notes might be a little different, but I guess the main melody is the same.

Any predictions on "Hymn for the weekend"? Is it really going to slow down this week? According to some predictions couple days ago it looked like it will only climb 1 spot. I hope it doesn't lose its momentum?

So Ride is falling off, but it's 1. After it finally hit the top 5, and 2. Coinciding with the rise of Heathens, which hit the top 10 with huge sales and streaming thanks to Suicide Squad (the hype has died down but it's still #2 on the iTunes chart), but no airplay. And now that it has airplay, I can see it sticking around.

I'm guessing it's the latter. Labels and writers got the pants scared off them when the Blurred Lines case went to court and went in favor of the estate to the tune of millions of dollars, so they're trying to pre-empt the claims by adding credits as soon as it seems plausible. For the record, I still don't hear the actual similarity. Really???? The first time I heard "Blurred Lines" I figured it was a sample or interpolation of music (if that's what it's called). I'm not being shady are you a music major? Only reason I ask because there was an artist on TMZ Live who was sticking up for "Blurred Lines" talking about chords etc saying their not exactly the same but were inspired by "Got To Give It Up".

Is it normal for songs to suddenly freefall on radio if the artist's next single starts gaining a lot of traction? Ever since Closer and Heathens have started gaining 2m+ AI per day, DLMD and Ride have been losing about that much.

Is it normal for songs to suddenly freefall on radio if the artist's next single starts gaining a lot of traction? Ever since Closer and Heathens have started gaining 2m+ AI per day, DLMD and Ride have been losing about that much. Yes, that is extremely common. If that doesn't happen, it's a sign that the new single could eventually brickwall and go nowhere (see: "Out of the Woods" and "New Romantics" against "Wildest Dreams"). Though, it's not always the case. Especially when the songs are released to separate formats, such as Drake. "Too Good" and "Controlla" are able to coincide without hurting each other because they're at different formats for the most part. Also, "Controlla" broke before "Too Good," but it wasn't until "Too Good" hit that "One Dance" was affected since those two would be coming from the same format. There are also cases where two songs from the same artist can literally just coexist. That's not common, but it can happen, such as "Only Girl (In the World)" and "What's My Name?" from Rihanna at relatively the same time.
