She's lovely as always. But seriously what was the point? Ugh.

gurl that's a bop and you know it. and that video is fire Regardless of personal feelings, it was a terrible single choice. Right. She was coming off 3 big hits and then that flopped. There is no real way to argue it was a good choice for a single.

I think Rich Juzwiak does a nice job parsing through the documentary here.

Janet for the gold! Never in all of my days did I think I'd hear "Rope Burn" in a skating routine, lmao.

Ice skating is kind of kinky though, they do all of those positions and acrobats like some freaky athletes. Rope Burn makes sense!

Iβm going thru the janet. CD and having deep feelings if nostalgia. She was so ahead of her time on that album.

While no JJ albums appear on the official UK albums or album sales charts, Control and Rhythm Nation 1814 debut on the Album Downloads chart, at Nos. 64 and 89, respectively.
I'd expect at least a couple appearances, maybe more, on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart. The best sellers were pretty consistent throughout last week. With minimal streaming activity, not sure if any will break the Billboard 200- maybe in the lower half, if anything.

I liked the documentary. I can see how some people found it boring because there wasnβt any new info and not much on her recording process, but I still thought it was enjoyable.

I thought it was a great documentary. I donβt think it needed to be four hours (well, 3 without commercials), it did a great job emphasizing who she is as a person behind the artist, which I admit, I didnβt really know very well. I think the point it drove for me is just how genuinely nice she seems to be, and being as shy as everyone said she is, that must have made many aspects of her career extremely difficult to undertake. For me, this makes the entire Super Bowl incident even more mind-boggling that someone with her demeanour and introvert personality could be used as the scapegoat for it. Itβs like, think of the shyest, nicest person you know at your job and imagine them getting blamed for something they were unfortunately involved in that wasnβt their fault - and being blamed over and over again for years to the point where they become the example of what not to do.
Mostly I learned more about her early career, the Control album, becoming independent from her father but also as a sibling with super successful brothers - and she did that. Iβm sure most Janet fans knew all of that (I donβt think my bf learned anything he didnβt already know) but for me it helped me gain a better appreciation for her. We spent the entire weekend listening to Janet - including a few tracks from the last album, which I plan on revisiting this week. Highly underrated.
Thanks @pmas2015 !

Considering that it missed 3 days of potential sales and streams (airing on Monday and Tuesday in the UK), I'm sure that affected it. But it's always good to see her on a chart regardless.

Yeah, wasn't sure when it aired on the other side of the pond.
Speaking of the UK... I'm astounded by the sharp decline in her album peaks after All For You. AFY hit 2, and then Damita Jo, 32, and 20 Y.O. and Discipline, each No. 63. Unbreakable, at least, was a nice rebound in terms of peak, at No. 11.
Then, there's the outrageous fact of not scoring a UK No. 1 single. Crazy.

Surprised Control didn't crack Top Album Sales, as the title ranked higher than Rhythm Nation 1814 on iTunes all week.
