Why wouldn't she deserve the #1, lol. She's getting unprecedented streaming numbers for a female pop artist, it's not like she's debuting at #1 with 10 million streams, no she's absolutely destroying the competition there AND she's selling extremely well for this climate. Would SICKO MODE or Mona Lisa have "deserved" the #1, even if they pulled lower numbers? Pointless argument tbh. Would I have preferred NTLTC, Problem or GIAW? Sure, but this is hardly "undeserved". ^^ this.

Yes Ariana! The game is truly changing, big streaming #'s don't belong to only hip hop (and Ed Sheeran) any more! Lmao, relax. This is a one-off case. As much as Ariana, Camilla and Dua are streaming forces in their own rights, they don't usually pull in massive streams right away like Ariana is doing right now. I'm hoping the success of this Ariana single encourages more pop fans to focus on streaming the songs their favourite artists release right away as opposed to just complaining about hip-hop's dominance. This particular song is doing well because it's become like a meme on social media. More and more people are finding about it on social media and so it's streams keep rising. Should rise for about another week before it stalls and starts dipping, much like In My Feelings did when it peaked. But still, great achievement for Ariana. She more than deserves it.

I also LOVE that it's going to be a dominant #1 on both streaming and digital sales and not just fuelled primarily by radio. That's dope as hell.

Hopefully it becomes the first multi-week female #1 of 2018, although its pretty likely. Checked and this would've been the first year since 1985 without a multi-week female #1 (as lead artist). That year was insanely male-dominated at the top; 26 songs went #1 and only 3 had females credited as lead artist, 0 as featured, but 4 if you include 'We Are the World'. Perfect (Duet) was #1 for multiple weeks. GLY also just spent 7 weeks at #1(I know Cardi isn’t the lead but still) Duet was only credited for 4 or 5 weeks? Most of its points came from the original after that.

She could get a second week at #1 since she’ll have a full tracking week that week. Especially if she maintains over 3 million daily on Spotify for those 7 days and radio eats it up. Tbh radio won’t even hurt it. XXX won’t beat her either tbh his sales and radio suck She could? She will. The song is spending at least 3 straight weeks at #1. I don't see anyone dropping anything that'll dethrone it in that time. We're already at the start of the second tracking week. We'll get it's Spotify numbers for Thursday today. By tomorrow, we'll get Friday's numbers (which should have increased also), and so on. It's rising ridiculously fast on radio and should continue to do so long after it's streams have stalled. I can see this song being #1 till the year ends if no one massive drops. I remember predicting 4-6 weeks for Girls Like You and everyone saying I was exaggerating.

Most of its points came from the original after that. I think the Beyonce version was only getting the most points for 1 or 2 weeks. Billboard just kept crediting her for longer for some reason.

I almost wish we would see artists release a new song each month and then an album for those who still want one after 10 or 12 months or so. I think that is the sort of shift we are going to see in the future. Or at least it would be a smart one. Imagine if Drake had released 10 songs individually. And each one went to #1. Instead of doing them all at once and seeing low returns on later singles because people already got over the song months ago. I'd be curious to see this strategy play out at some point with someone. It wouldn’t likely happen that way though. After a while, routine sets in and hype moves out.

I'm annoyed at how Ariana is going to luck out for a number 1 with a song that isn't even number one worthy and doesn't deserve it one bit. The songs that she should have gotten a number 1 with were Problem and No Tears Left To Cry. TUN shouldn't be anywhere close to a number 1 worthy debut. The song is nice and I like it but it feels more of an album track, and having this kind of song from her debut at number 1 is a shame. Guess it's a good thing Billboard doesn't factor in your awful opinion then.

I'm kind of not surprised that Ariana's new single is doing so well on streaming because in a strange way it seems a bit like a female version of a Drake song, and we know how well he does on streaming.

“thank u, next” breaks it’s own record for most streams in one day for a female on the worldwide Spotify charts.

Based on my predictions, Bastille will be #1 on Hot 100 Airplay no later than 11/24.
Which means that GLY can at best TIE iris but will NOT beat the record. Thank GOD! What will be the determining factor is if GLY will drop off playlists when resets come on Sundays 11/11 and 11/18. More Programmers will finally drop the song and increase Xmas songs. Bastille is still hot and fresh at Pop so that will help it. I'm hoping GLY will end at 17 weeks.

As just a casual Ariana listener here (I like her, but hardly know her albums by heart or listen to her on repeat) it ALREADY feels like "thank u, next" is one of her biggest songs. I'm seeing it referenced all over the place and hear the most random people talking about it - and the stats don't lie. To people saying it doesn't "deserve" #1 compared to her other hits - just remember it's not even one week old yet lol. It's clearly going to be a massive moment for her and getting ready to settle in for a lengthy run of success.

She's always made songs that sound like a #1 but she released them at bad times I felt like she should’ve released it in January so it has a guaranteed year end spot for 2019 and it might’ve ended in the top 10 as well (even a long shot for top 5 and #1 but that might be too far)

So, 6IX9INE has a song with both Kanye and Nicki on the way. No idea when it drops, but they were shooting a music video, and shots were fired during it, so it may be delayed a bit. Should do some damage to the charts when it drops

She's always made songs that sound like a #1 but she released them at bad times I wouldn't say she released them at bad times. This song could have gone #1 during the last five weeks of In My Feelings' run. It's that strong a #1. She's just never had a song that arrived with this many streams, that's all. You drop a song that's massive enough, damn whatever song is #1, it'll jump over it and take the #1 position for itself.

I personally doubt it as 6IX9INE songs tend to do well albeit lack longevity, I think Kanye + Nicki features should immensely help with that. He just needs to start dropping on Friday as opposed to Sunday. Who knows though, time will tell /shrug.

That's kind of the difference between artists like Drake and other artists. A new Drake single will always do it's most damage on the charts as soon as it arrives (high debut and then slow decline). Same with his albums. Drake has never had a sleeper album (an album that drops with little to no fanfare and success and then later on becomes increasingly successful. Examples include Adele's 21, Miguel's Kaleidoscope Dreams, Post Malone's Stoney, Khalid's American Teen). All his albums debut high and then slowly decline. For newer artists, it's almost always the opposite. Songs don't usually debut high and they take their time climbing the charts and eventually doing their damage (examples include Lucid Dreams, Boo'd Up, Love Lies).
I hope this Ariana song keeps on dominating. I don't personally care for it because I think she has way better songs off Sweetener, but it'd be a perfect way to round off this crazy year with a woman having the #1 song. I would like that very much.
