Just hopping in but I think event singles are singles that draw a lot of media and or attention. Not just necessarily popular on radio, but culturally impactful

In terms of signature songs by famous Pop acts: • Rihanna - Umbrella; We Found Love; Diamonds. • Madonna - Like A Virgin; Like A Prayer; VOGUE. • Michael Jackson - Thriller; Billie Jean; Man In The Mirror. There are some artists who are fortunate enough to have more than one particular signature song due to the sheer popularity of their singles across different albums/eras such as Madonna, Rihanna etc. However, there are those artists whom, in spite of having experienced vast commercial success throughout their careers, are still very much known for and famed for one particular song. For example, whereas Mariah Carey has 18 #1 songs in the U.S, most people would be most familiar with “All I Want For Christmas Is You” both domestically and worldwide especially in this day and age. Céline Dion has several big songs ie. “The Power Of Love; Think Twice; Because You Loved Me; All By Myself” etc. but the song that most solidifies her legacy is easily and by far “My Heart Will Go On”. When it comes to Janet Jackson most people would highlight “Rhythm Nation” as being her signature song. As for an artist like Prince most people would highlight “Purple Rain” as his. Now, for Beyoncé, (excluding Destiny’s Child), I don’t think she will nor could ever escape the utter omnipresence of “Crazy in Love” even with existing hits ala. “Single Ladies” etc. That song is the benchmark for her entire musical persona. Whitney Houston’s another case of an artist having a multitude of signature hits. “I Will Always Love You” is absolutely iconic and is her biggest hit by way of the charts but others such as “I Have Nothing” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and even “The Greatest Love Of All” are also highly famed the world over. renaboss

"Signature song" is as ridiculous as "event single". Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop.

It’s certainly replaces “Million Reasons” as her ballad with the most cultural dominion thus far. As for your other aforementioned artists, I somewhat agree. There are some songs of which are bonafide, millenial Pop classics: “Beautiful; Where is the Love; Just Like A Pill; Complicated; Someone Like You; Rolling in the Deep; Poker Face; I Gotta Feeling” etc. whereas some others were primarily songs that were famous at a certain period but are, arguably, forgotten.

I remember people calling Rihanna a poor man's Clara back in 2005-2006. Oh how times have changed And there is this New York Times article about how Beyonce is "no Ashanti". Tbh I agree with that review as far as Beyoncé’s debut is concerned.

Lil Pump only debuted at #40 in Spotify lol. What's even more funny is that John Mayer had a higher debut.

I decided to hop to see the standard meltdown when ‘x’ favorite artist (this week Cardi B) has 8th day effect. I’m pleased that some things are still predictable on the H100 thread.
As far as this chart, with Queen performing Sunday + the really solid sales/streaming of its catalog after the VOD release, I wonder if BR will re-enter yet again?

Can someone explain to me what’s the rolling effect? Like did radio just stop playing it or? The radio numbers you see on kworb are a total of the last 7 days of play. When a song launches, its previous days were obviously 0, so it can do nothing but gain. If the song had a promotional day 1 where one of the big conglomerates gets the song played, say, once an hour on certain formats, that day will give the song a really big number to start. Because of this, once day 8 comes around, even if the song's doing great numbers still (in this case, 7.8m) the shedding of day 1 (26.5m) means you end up with a pretty big net loss.

It’ll be back in the top 20 in less than a week It was down to #20 on Spotify before the album bombs from Offset and Gunna. On Apple Music, Cardi's main platform, it's down to #25, but even without the two new albums it would be at #7-ish which is not bad, but not phenomenal. As far as the gp is concerned, I don't think a lot of people care for it. It's definitely rebounding and most likely going back up to top twenty, but I don't know how much more it will be able to climb

It is kinda underwhelming a bit imo outside of radio. On Spotify it’s down to #27 and there only 2 new entries above it...
Not sure how well Money did initially but I know the video had completely rebounded it on streaming, and it’s still lingering around the top 40 there. I would even be surprised if a solo Bruno single performed like this initially but alas, the video should help.

At this point, with over a week's worth of data tracked, I think it's safe to say that Please Me is underperforming on streaming platforms. I, for one, am not surprised. Bruno isn't a streaming force and his last collaboration with Cardi B also underperformed on streaming platforms.
I think the life of this single will be mostly determined by how long it can continue to perform well on radio. A video might offer a massive boost, but how long that lasts and how huge a boost it brings are still up in the air as far as I'm concerned.
I think Cardi should have waited before releasing a new single. Money still has it's legs in tact and she could have coasted off of features for the next couple of weeks at least. Then again, I'm a huge Drake fan and he doesn't follow those conventions so who am I to criticize.

Yup, "Finesse" was such a mystery. 8 weeks at #3, peaked at #2 on sales, and #1 on streaming and radio - but it's timing wasn't optimal. And it just kind of free-falled after leaving the top 10. I don't think "Please Me" will do much better despite coming right out of the gate.
