Been a fan since Idol, so happy for his second run of success! I know it's just a song, but the "I ain't ready for a ring on my hand" line is kind of a needle scratch, even though I know the album came out before he got married (lol, glad to see in my long hiatus from chart watching that the charts remain slow). This song was written back in 2015 when he was still with Mercury Nashville prior to being dropped. This song & "Five More Minutes" were 2 songs he singled out in interviews as songs he loved when his single out was "Southern Belle."

I mean, I figured it was an old song but Scotty relies on his own persona in so much of his music, so it's a little jarring (for me) when lyrics clash with that. But it's not really a big deal or anything!

At #53 on Billboard after 8 weeks which is pretty middling. Not bad, but not good. Obviously there is enough time for this to hit #1, but I think this will probably peak in like the Top 20 as this single doesn't have a ton of momentum and does seem to be getting somewhat lost in the shuffle so far.

This song sounds like one of the many songs that will have a kind of rough start, and research comes in after a while, and skyrocket afterwards.

Could the fact that Scotty's previous song "This Is It" is still being played a lot more than this song is, be the reason why this one is not doing so well on the charts? "This Is It" was #3 top recurrent on MB and #4 on Billboard last week. Didn't the song peaked in March? You would think that at this point, the radio stations would get on board with the new song and somehow let go of the previous one.

"This Is It" got off to a sluggish start for the same reason by competing with recurrent play for "Five More Minutes," but it ultimately did just fine in the end and wound up being a hit on the same level as "Minutes" was for him. It's too early to tell just how this one will go, but based on how the first two singles from the album did, this one might not peak until early 2020, so there's potentially a lot of time left on the clock yet for this one to turn into a hit.

This song's official video just went to YouTube this morning. Have to say the concept of this video is awesome. It depicts perfectly what the song is about. www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-n1Cjlsws8

Has this pretty well stalled out, or is it still in a slow climb?
Just curious.

Has this pretty well stalled out, or is it still in a slow climb? Just curious. The trajectory of this song so far is really not good. Strange how a few months make all the difference for an artist. Even though most of the bigger stations have added the song, they won't play it at all. It also looks like his label may be too busy with their other artists to help him out. Too bad because, out of the 3 songs released from his current album, this song is my favorite.

Too bad because, out of the 3 songs released from his current album, this song is my favorite. I think his label is still trying to push this as evidenced by the label's radio team still going with him to radio stuff & events including last week. I think the problem could be poor callouts. There's a lot of stations that have added it, but isn't playing it at all or stuck in overnight spins. It makes me think there's not good data for stations to think of increasing spins or play it in prime periods of the day. The lack of sales isn't helping either. It is one of the few songs in the Mediabase Top 50 that has consistently not been on the iTunes chart.

2 days with a bullet of over -60. So after 2 previous #1s this song may not even make the top 40? What's going on?!

Any data on how much recurrent play "This Is It" is getting? My local stations still have "This Is It" playing all the time, while I've heard "In Between" just once. Dustin Lynch had a similar problem while trying to push "I'd Be Jealous Too" (which is also just an awful song in my opinion) because stations wouldn't stop playing "Small Town Boy".

Radio needs to give up the old songs easier like they used to, a decade or so ago even non A list artists could get 3 songs on radio a years into the top 20 or higher.

Probably "In Between" is just gonna have to suffer... nothing to be worried about though, probably. D+S had their biggest era right after "Road Trippin" missed the top 40.

Isn't it time to let this song go? Close to 6 months and it's struggling to make top 40 on MB and worst on Billboard.
Don't know what happened but it's also not selling at all. Not even on iTunes all genre.
Wouldn't it be better to try another single instead (like Riley Green did)?

It's frustrating. That's for sure. I have a feeling Scotty will move on to a new album next year.

Riley's change in single made sense because of the enormous buzz & that song is going to be a smash hit. If Scotty's team makes the single switch now, the song needs to do well. Back to back singles not doing well wouldn't be good. If nothing else is going to be well received by radio from this album, then I think "In Between" should be the last single from this album. Then Scotty & his team needs to move on to a new music/album era.

Agree to moving on to new music/album era after In Between. Hopefully on the next album, Scotty will get a high profile collaboration to try to get some momentum going. He is doing it his way, never going outside the box. Too bad, because he has talent galore and a voice to kill for.
