Thematically, this song is very similar to Dierks’ Burning Man. Perhaps radio is burned out on this topic, thus this song’s slow rise on the charts.

Scotty released a new acoustic version of In Between today. www.iheart.com/content/2019-11-21-scotty-mccreery-releases-acoustic-performance-of-in-between/The music video for the acoustic track, directed by Jeff Ray, is premiering exclusively today with iHeartCountry radio stations. The song and video are the first of three acoustic tracks coming from the country crooner as a new digital EP entitled The Soundcheck Sessions. McCreery will also release an acoustic track in December and January to complete the EP, with iHeartCountry continuing to debut the accompanying music videos. “In Between (Acoustic),” as well as the two forthcoming acoustic tracks, were filmed and recorded on the stage of the Cascade Theatre in Redding, California on Sept. 26, during the afternoon before the singer and his band performed a concert there that night.

Also enters the Mediabase Top 30 this week at #30 with a bullet of 75. Taking around 8 months to enter the Top 30 is not ideal but I can see this song at least making the Top 20 and maybe Top 10, since this song is pretty safe radio filler. I will say out of all of Scotty McCreery's material this is probably my favorite song of his, not anything I actively seek out but I do not mind it when it comes on the radio.

Top 20 is a realistic possibility in the next few weeks.

The station I listen to has a glitch where whenever they play “Five More Minutes” by Scotty, a different song will come next and then FMM again. Kinda strange but funny. I love that song so it’s not a bad thing, just weird.

Great to see this most likely making top 20 after all this time. I just hate certain artists take so much more time than others who will put out 2 singles that pass by them while their 1 single is chugging along. I so miss the radio charting of the Pre 2010s.

Corporate radio programming is a huge reason for that. The majority of iHeartMedia, Cumulus, CBS and Townsquare stations play a corporate playlist and that means the same cluster of songs stay buried in overnight spins and usually for a longer period of time than they used to (back 10-20 years ago). Many listeners don't hear these songs regularly on the radio until they're moved to daytime spins and by then they could be 20-30-even 40 weeks old. It's definitely gotten ridiculous for chart watchers.

Its gotten ridiculous for artists who have great singles in waiting on albums that never get to be released when they may take a year per single to chart. Think how many Country classics we wouldn't have today had the industry been like this a long time ago. No one no matter how good they are is going to have careers like Reba, George, Alabama, Brad, even Carrie. Those who built careers on 4 or 5 top 10 or better singles every album for over a decade. Well there are rare exceptions like Luke Combs but it definitely won't be the norm anymore.

I guess I don't mind country radio having these long chart runs and I say this as a chart watcher for the past 5 years, the labels clearly have the money to burn to keep the songs being promoted for so long, radio always shows some level of interest for the songs right out of the gate, and their are other ways for artists to be popular anyway (touring, streaming, etc). That and regardless of these long chart climbs, usually every week there are at least 1-3 songs that do tend to give up so the charts are always moving.

I think in this case it makes sense for the label to keep pushing this single. This seems like the last single off the album. He just started working on new music. The label probably wants to push this as long as it can until new music is ready so there isn't that much of a break on radio.

I will say that while it is frustrating for songs to have marathon chart climbs I don't think this song is the best example of a song being treated unfairly. As this song has actually probably done better than it probably should have since there is pretty much zero buzz to this song (not even in the iTunes Top 1500 all genre) and the music video has not even reached 2 million views on Youtube despite being out for over 6 months. I mean between zero buzz for this single (third single from the album as well), and "This Is It" having such long staying power as a recurrent, I am not shocked this song has taken as long as it has on the charts.

Well, after charting for 40 weeks in America, In Between FINALLY debuts at #50 in Canada.

I imagine this song is probably gonna make the Top 20 in the next couple of weeks, but soon afterwards I see the label giving up on "In Between" as this song has really begun stalling out the last couple of weeks (lost it's bullet on Billboard last week, and has had a negative or really low bullet for the past few weeks now).
Given this song's lack of buzz and interest (#800s all genre on iTunes), this song as honestly done better than it probably should have.

I would imagine they want to keep their #1 song streak going for all their artists.

I would imagine they want to keep their #1 song streak going for all their artists. Yeah no #1 isn't happening, and I think even the label Triple Tigers is aware of that and are just aiming for a Top 20. This song is at Week 46 going to be Week 47 this Monday on Billboard. The most a song has ever been promoted to radio is 58 weeks ("Make Me Want To" by Jimmie Allen), so at most this song has 11 weeks left after this week for promotion more than likely. So it takes about 8000 spins to hit #1 on Mediabase, right now Scotty McCreery is at 2894. In order for him to even contend for #1 spot he would have to on average gain over 400 spins a week from here on out and considering how long it has taken just to get to #21. Yeah that is not happening. I think Triple Tigers will push til the wheels come falling off this song, but that looks to be happening sooner than later.

Scotty is working on his new album with a single coming probably in the end of 2nd or early 3rd quarter. So I don't see them pushing this all the way to #1. A top 20 finish is good enough at this point. I still think they should have gone with "Boys from Back Home" which could have smashed but it is what it is.

There is absolutely 0 chance this gets to #1 or anywhere close to it. The absolute highest I see this going is scraping the top 20. It'll most likely land somewhere in the 16-20 range for its peak. Love this song, but I'm ready for it to just sneak into the top 20 and for them to just drop it and move on asap.

Really don't think In Between will go much further than #20. His songs usually sell very well, strange that this one doesn't.
So looking forward to the first single of his 4th album. Hoping it will happen before he goes overseas in May and before he starts his Tour for the Summer. Was filming yesterday, so hoping it had something to do with the first single.
Scotty has been recording for a while now and the album seems to be coming along nicely.

It’s the third single off an album campaign that started in 2017.

Whatever happens with this single, nobody can deny that this has been a good era for him. Two back to back #1's after getting dropped from UMG Nashville is no small feat. He's still relatively young for a male country artist so I think even bigger things are ahead. He's already proved himself as a songwriter.

The reason albums are failing to drop more than 2 singles, for mid level or below radio artists, is how long it takes to promote them. This is proof. So if it takes two plus years for two hits and a Top 20, they might as well wait to two or three singles in to release an album. I.E. the Keith Urban model. Here’s hoping the new Scotty music is as good as his first two singles of this cycle were.

I think we’ll start to see mid tier acts release S1 as a single, S2 as a single, and then Album so they can get to a 3rd single.

"In Between" finally enters the Mediabase Top 20 gaining 89 spins this week. With this now Top 20, I can see this song beginning to slip and be let go within the next few weeks as outside of Riley Green, Scotty McCreery has the lowest bullet of all the songs being actively being promoted, not to mention the abysmal sales.

Scotty debuted 2 new songs at his sold out show at the Ryman last night. "Falling For a stranger" and "Twice a child" the latter getting a standing O and sounds like a massive hit. The new album will be good!

It’s at #16 now. So much for dropping it after it hits top 20. Fair. It still isn't hitting #1 though. I will say next week should be interesting if it keeps up this decent pace, because this week was pretty good for "In Between" but I don't know if it's gonna keep this pace up since I suspect the solid bullet is more from 5 songs in free-fall in the Mediabase Top 30 and so many spins shedding from all 5 of them. If next week this song has a solid bullet and gains than I think it might be in for a Top 10 peak, but if not I expect it to probably stall out sooner than later because it is the lowest selling song in the Top 30, and besides this week never had a very strong week since hitting the Top 30.
