I'm not a reporter so nobody cares what I do, but I'm gonna add this to my teaser / tester rotation and play it mostly at night and overnight for now. Just a few prime spins to see if I get feedback. As far as I'm concerned if Blake Shelton loves it that's good enough for me! (j/k obvs) This is awesome!! Also I love hearing insights from people who actually work in radio so please post more!

There's probably 5-6 songs off the album that could be released to CHR/Alternative/County simultaneously as this album really blurs genres quite a bit. Betty is getting pushed, but The 1 is being promoted as County on Apple Music, Last American Dynasty as well. Invisible String probably could fit here, and the star of the album (imo) is Exile, which seems to be genre-less but maybe too long without a radio edit.

All the proof we needed for the folks out there who think the country industry doesn't still love Taylor Swift, lol.

This is now at No. 50 on today's update on MB. Also, it's my first time to listen to the radio edit which is 4:14 compared to 4:54 album version, and I feel weird having some of the parts get cut. 4:54 is definitely long for radio, and even 4:14 seemed to be long compared to the other songs.

Reached the top 50 earlier than I thought! I did see some bigger stations in the spin leaders list that probably are worth more points on Mediabase so I'm assuming that must've helped?

I did see some bigger stations in the spin leaders list that probably are worth more points on Mediabase so I'm assuming that must've helped? Definitely. Market size of spins is weighed into the Mediabase points system. Programmers are willing and ready to play Taylor and why wouldn't you? It's a name listeners know and if there are scan listeners (tuning in to multiple stations and formats), then they would love to hear a pop format artist on their local country station. I'm not ready to say this will be a future #1 hit or even a top 10 hit (it could be for sure), but the great add date and chart climb so far isn't too surprising. Taylor's a huge name in multiple formats.

Yes! Here for the success of Betty and they can follow it up with a country mix of Exile. Replace with Bon Iver's vocals with a country artist - maybe Sam Hunt? Ryan Hurd? What country artist do y'all think would work well on that song?
As an extremely calculated artist, I don't think she would choose a Big Machine artist for obvious reasons (and they possibly wouldn't be on board either) and I think she is outspoken on her politics to the point that she'd choose someone aligned with her, both in terms of artistry and values. Big dreaming there but Exile is a masterpiece and an edit would sound amazing on country radio after Betty.

Give the feature to Josh Turner. Ain't no other country men going to hit those low notes with as much resonance and force as "Exile" needs

I think just go Invisible String IF this does well enough to warrant a second single here.
Hoping this can hit top 20 or higher!

I mean it would be great because they were a great group from the 80βs so maybe it could happen lol

Would August have potential on country radio as a second single or is the vocal production too poorly suited for that? That seems to be the big fan favorite from the album.

Please tell me we aren't gonna do daily Mediabase updates for this song Isnβt it against the rules anyway? Those of us who frequent the country forum are probably aware that daily updates are discouraged but I know Taylor Swift does appeal to people that don't come to the country forum often. This is what the country forum posting guideline says about this: Country Forum Posting Guidelines3) Daily Mediabase/iTunes Updates. In the past, posting such updates (in song threads) was not allowed. However, after gathering much feedback, we've come to a compromise on how to adjust this rule. We (the staff) won't be ultra-restrictive here, but we don't really want to see a bunch of numbers without any commentary or purpose, as the goal here is to facilitate discussion. Since daily updates can often be misleading, we prefer chart analysis that incorporates multi-day trends, as it is much more effective when it comes to watching/discussing charts. Essentially, weβre willing to be more flexible and less strict here. In short, we will allow Mediabase and iTunes updates, but posting an update every single day will still be discouraged. Instead, we encourage you to incorporate multiple days of data into your post, so as to gain context about how the song is trending. The ultimate goal is to keep threads from getting bogged down from chart updates every single day ( Note: if daily updates become a problem, we reserve the right to re-adjust this rule). Also, keep in mind that there is now a daily Mediabase Update thread, and the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase charts are posted each week. The Kworb website also displays daily Mediabase updates, including spincrease, bullet, and audience numbers, for the top 50 songs. There are links to these websites further down in this thread!

Guess we're getting no one then, because Stapleton couldn't even go as low as the highest note that Bon Iver hits in that song

Inches up a notch today, so it's chugging along. Hope she does release a video for this.
I don't think Cat Country 96 in Allentown, Pa., has started playing it as of yet.

Daily updates are suggested against in single threads for the country forum (and they're rather pointless anyway since every morning fearlessarrow posts the top 50 in its own thread which is basically the same as having daily updates but without cluttering up individual threads). That said, I only saw 1 daily update posted above so let's not immediately lose our heads over it either guys.

Oh jeez. Love Kane Brown but he would absolutely not be able to handle a song of that caliber.

I still think someone like Chris who is known for being an emotive singer. His voice is high but I'd still be curious to hear him on it. I find Justin Vernon's voice is jarring at first - but then again, maybe Chris' wouldn't work either. Maybe it doesn't even need a "country" vocalist.

"Invisible String" is the way to go if they want another single for country radio after "Betty." I'd prefer them not touch "Exile" by swapping out the duet partner because I think it's perfect as is, and if Chris Stapleton is one of the replacement options then that's a hard no from me because he'd ruin the song with his screeching imo.
