TOTC predictions: 1-2 Life Goes On, depending on store sales 3-4 Dynamite, depending on store sales 8 Monster 29 Prisoner 50ish Body as Megan's highest I can't see Megan being that low, Shots Fired alone is at #1 on Apple Music. Down to 6 on am, 70 on spotify. Body the actual single is rising nicely though.

Brenda Lee opens at #24 on Spotifty while Mariah is #17, seems we'll get a recreation from last year (All I Want at #1 and Rockin' at #2). Unfortunately, I wish the legend Brenda could get her first #1 since 1962 and break two records (most time between #1 singles and oldest act to reach #1).

Also, would be her first #1 since 1960 - you may be confusing her with Connie Francis.

In a few matter of a few minutes, we have seen three different songs top the sales chart on iTunes, all BTS.

^Interesting, if that's the case. Then Digital Sales vs Streaming on the 12/5 chart....sales slaughter vs. streaming bombs. Sales are still hot in 2020 regardless of artist/remix/store purchase.

thanksgiving 2019 trajectory on US Spotify mariah 33 41 39 31 14 8 10 brenda 55 81 72 44 20 12 13 kelly 200 x x 182 113 69 70 The top 2 are already close to their Thanksgiving Day positions. Rising Kelly is already higher than any position from the last Thanksgiving week.
If we use Spotify as a microcosm vs. their H100 positions, to see what a high position of the former would translate as for the latter, on Xmas week as a whole: All I Want for Christmas is You #2, #1 Rockin Around the Christmas Tree #4,#2 Jingle Bell Rock #5,#3 Most Wonderful Time #8,#7 Last Christmas #12,#11 Santa Tell Me #13,X Xmas Song #14,#16 Holly Jolly Xmas #15 (burl),#4 Beginning to Look #18 (michael),X Let it Snow #20,#15 Holly Jolly #21 (michael),X White Xmas #23,#42 Feliz #24,#12 Mistletoe #25,X Christmas Baby Please #28,#29 Wonderful Christmastime #29,X Happy Xmas #32,X Do They Know #34,X Blue Xmas #35,#40 Beginning to Look #37 (perry),#28 Underneath the Tree #40, #31
Big differences: Santa Tell Me #13 did not return. Michael Buble covers #18 and #21 did not return. Mistletoe #25 did not return. Nor some lower ones. The first 4 are from last decade; other streaming platforms/radio were not so into them. White Xmas 19 positions lower on H100. Happy Xmas 37 positions lower. Feliz 12 positions higher on H100 than Spotify. Holly Jolly 11 higher on H100 than Spotify. Beginning to Look and Underneath the Tree 9 positions higher on H100.
It's interesting that while last year Kelly was notably lower than 4 2010s songs on Spotify, none of them returned but she actually did better overall than on Spotify. Indicates that Underneath the Tree has been more readily accepted as a holiday perennial already, by radio and the older skewing streaming platforms like Amazon.

Do songs these days lack a third chorus because they want people to re-stream more times? They just feel so short and unfinished, it annoys me. Would it have killed Shawn and Justin to sing their chorus a third time?

I didn't know what "Save Your Tears" was. Makes sense that it follows the three-part structure songs used to follow, since it's inspired by 80's music. Sounds a bit like Bob Sinclar's "Love Generation" though. Too much, actually.

i will never understand the hype for Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree. Why can't our big non-Mariah Christmas songs be things like Last Christmas and Most Wonderful Time Of The Year?

Megan's album is surprisingly underperforming. I guess it makes a bit of sense, the closest she's gotten to a solo hit was Big Ole Freak so perhaps I underestimated how big her album would be but it's surprising that not counting WAP, she only has one song in the Top 40 with Body.

Itβs crazy that Good News songs aren't performing as well as they should on streaming platforms and commercially in general. Her album is being critically acclaimed everywhere. Unfortunate for Megan...

Leah- "Rockin'..." is one of my favorite holiday songs. As for the other two songs you mentioned, they've been performing just fine, reaching Nos. 7 and 11 last season. :)
dremulus- Thee Stallion's album is performing better on Apple Music.

Unfortunate for Megan... The reviews of publications are based 95% on convenient narratives. This album was going to get praised regardless of quality. The tracks are tanking cause most of them are annoying with little replay value, no surprise.

Unfortunate for Megan... I mean, widespread critical acclaim doesn't always translate to huge commercial success. And the album is still doing pretty well anyway, and I didn't have expectations that it would be performing on the same level as some of the really big album bombs we've seen this year.
