There's a difference between saying you prefer streaming - to saying radio should count less. One is opinion, the latter goes beyond opinion and tries to put down how others consume and thst they shouldn't count or not as much. Go outside and touch some grass

I mean, this is a Hot 100 list with statistics based on US data, so global success isn't taken into account here. Mariah, Lil Wayne, and Janet have struggled to have as much success in Europe compared to the US, but that doesn't make them less famous than Bieber, for instance. I just seriously cant imagine going up to even a 50 year old even in just north America and asking them, do you know who Justin Bieber is? and them saying they don't. I can imagine that happening with drake. Let's be honest here, this has nothing to do with hype or hot 100 success, it's just name recognition. Maybe I was mistaken even talking about fame in a list to do with most top 10's, but now that we're on this subject, you wont find many people who are more famous than Justin Bieber in this world. Yet you think those fifty year olds won't know Elvis, Janet, wonder, McCartney? Madonna? lMAO.

Type in most famous person in the world on google, Bieber is 3rd on the list, point proven I win!!. Just kidding

Someone clearly wants to feel oppressed, im not demanding anything. Here I'll do you a favor, read this thanks. Since it seems like you also don't know please refer to the image I sent above this comment block. Thank you and please if either of you two would like to further this exhausting conversation take it to private messages with me if you'd like, instead of annoying everyone else in the thread. Ok baaaaaaaai, have a good day! There's a difference between saying you prefer streaming - to saying radio should count less. One is opinion, the latter goes beyond opinion and tries to put down how others consume and thst they shouldn't count or not as much. Damn you still going at it?

Radio and radio listeners are often dismissed here, particularly in favour of streaming. Yet, there have been times when a song does well in one metric out of nowhere and for a brief period of time, but doesnโt have radio support and some question the legitimacy of that hit. I think even if radio tends to be slow to change, we still somewhat rely on it to affirm whether a song is a hit or not. But some people want the main chart to be bland version of it based only on streaming thinking (close minded in my opinion) it's the only and valid way people consume music (that's what the Streaming Song chart is for, right?). Deniying the influence of radio is deluded and for those who want the end of radio, well you'll have to wait decades for that, it has survived for 100+ years now despited being declared "dead" multiple times, lol.

Yes I generally don't like being told where to talk. radio did great on the Hot 100 this week, it's relevant I'll talk about it here.

half of the t10 still has rappers. which is perfectly fine. We don't need a quota system in the charts. May the most consumed songs chart. May we not have consumption suppression because it isn't our genre or style.

The Hot 100 top 10 dominated by CHR! #PopDomination The dark days are over! Rejoice in the light! I wouldn't necessarily say the dark days are over, people are still dying, people are losing jobs and the economy is dropping as a result of that, people have to shut down businesses, people can't pay bills and plenty of other things.

I feel like the same discussion goes on every week, I mean Radio vs Streaming, running in circles. :s How is that any difference the Discussions weekly if it's the 2nd or third single and why it isn't a single at all. Or the artist really isn't a musician because of this or thst so it doesn't count.

Ugh, at least half of the new entries this week are from artists and/or albums that completely suck (Glass Animals, Jordan Davis, Dustin Lynch, BEP/Shakira).
At least we got that Eric Church song, though! It debuted earlier in its radio run than I expected, so I hope it becomes a lasting hit.

Even Drake at this point is being kept alive and high on the charts due to radio.

This thread is turning into a circus show. Double feature from the iconic pop princesses of the 2000s. Now that I come to think of it, "Enter The Circus" almost seems like the theme song of the weekly threads ๐ Do you want to be widely entertained?
People to know your name?

He is more famous than half the people on that list itโs not that shocking I don't even know anyone else on the list. Who is Madonna? She starred in Evita, so she's an actress and doesn't count as a musician.

Idk why people say so few people listen to radio lol. www.digitalmusicnews.com/2019/07/15/traditional-radio-america-flat/According to the Nielsen's 2019 Audio Today Report, which was recently made available, 272 million Americans listen to traditional radio every week, an increase of 7 million or about 2.5 percent, from 2016's figures. Anyways, is BL considered a lock to return to #1 after the Superbowl?

I'm looking at this top 10 and see the radio has a much bigger impact than streaming does right now.

I'm looking at this top 10 and see the radio has a much bigger impact than streaming does right now. It's deceptive and not worth the usual radio is overweighted panic. both metrics are down. Music consumption just isn't that important right now it appears.

Amazon music continues to gain in market share. It's only 3% behind Apple Music. It's base is more aligned with AC/Country and CHR. I really don't see a huge change going forward as that segment carries more and more influence.
