I don't think they'll release anything soon. This album will be more commercial and they want to tour the album so i guess it'll be released close to the tour which means Q4 in my opinion.

Impacting Alternative radio on May 11, 2021. Alt's gonna get crowded in a hurry. I think the last couple of months where it took 100 spins to crack the top 50 are going to come to a rapid end.

So basically this song's birthplace was the "head". Man I can already feel some nasty joke brewing inside me if the song turns out to be a stinker.

This is probably going to CHR relatively soon, too - Coldplay are hosting AT40 this weekend.

They are not playing around with this one - it's clearly following the lead of The Weeknd and Twenty One Pilots hits with the 80's synths and new wave drums giving this a nice solid kick. This is the liveliest Coldplay single to come by in a long time; I really like this on first listen.
I won't say more, but give this a listen even if you're a Coldplay skeptic. This is good stuff, and considering Coldplay always holds back for single #2, it's a great portent of things to come.

Sounds like it was rejected for Justice and demoed for After Hours, but it still sounds like Coldplay, so I can bop to it. I think it will grow on me, but not my favorite of their leads so far. I'm a Coldplay stan though and I am now officially excited for the new album, though I still play Everyday Life.

Was not expecting this, yes, sounds very The Weeknd with the 80s Synths and essentially all of the production. Easily sounds like it’s from 1982-1985, and it’s good enough. I don’t know how this will chart, could be huge. Just very simple stuff here.

Hard pass. They’re way too old/far into their career for this kind of trend chasing.

Hard pass. They’re way too old/far into their career for this kind of trend chasing. Exactly how old is too old to try a new sound or a different approach? I love the sound. Sounds bright and summerish. It has a hook that is very sing-along, I had learned it by the end of the second listen. Going on my CHR/Alt list.

decent background music…it doesn’t hold a candle to anything by The Weeknd though

I’m a few listens in now and I think this is their most instant lead since “Teardrop.” I think this’ll do better than “Orphans” (obviously can’t do much better than 4 weeks at #1 here, but it should do better at HAC and hopefully CHR.)

Not crazy about it on first listen but it gets into your head and that may serve them well esp. with the religious right

They sound so positive and happy. I prefer when they sound a bit subdued, like the X&Y era.

Coldplay have taken modernized approaches with previous projects & still made them sound trademark CP, this song is no exception. I think they might have another chance on hand to turn things around after the underperformance of the Everyday Life era.
