This is okay and Cruel Summer is one of Taylor's worst songs ever, glad that it remained an album track.

Seen a lot of TikTok mashups... if this is what it takes to get Cruel Summer to go viral, I'll take it!

Thanks to that mashup video. The bridge - YES. Also, this is a grower. It really has that indie-lofi vibe to it. Am diggin this.

The only bit that sounds anything like cruel summer is the shouting line in the bridge, thatβs the only comparison. I donβt know why people think that means they need to be mashup together lol

This song is just another case of "the previous single did well, let's replicate it", even down to the subject matter. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's being done because it's worked for other artists in the past. That said, hopefully she has other types of songs up her sleeves b/c it will get old eventually.

It's been clear for a while that she is following the Taylor Swift model of dropping references about her personal life, so unless 17 year old Olivia Rodrigo starts dropping some lyrics about the guy that stole her LEGOs on pre-school, I would expect a few more Joshua whathisname and Sabrina references on the album.

You need like 10 sales to go #1 on iTunes now. This will be fine.

Its #3 on the chart that matters, Spotify. Lol I love how people still pretend iTunes is an indicator anymore. You may be correct but if this was doing well at Itunes there would be at least a few posts saying how great it's doing. It happens everytime someones favorite doesn't do well there. "Itunes is irrelevant"!! Then when a favorite does do well there there's a bunch of excited posts about it being num.1 at Itunes! lol This board is funny like that..

OK but iTunes literally is irrelevant anymore, except in the case of big names like Taylor. Even for them tho, Spotify/Apple Music is where the relevance is at.

While this is far superior to DL, I still got deja vu listening to this. Can't wait for Sabrina's next song come out for boring drama rehash part 4.

#3 on Spotify #3 on YouTube #13 on iTunes #24 on Apple Music
This is doing really, really well. From the moment I heard this, I knew it wasn't going to be a hit because of how jarring the production was during the chorus so I'm pleasantly surprised to see it still climbing 4 days after release.

This is sonically a lot more interesting than DL. But I doubt I'll revisit it much.

Finally listened to this. The first verse definitely gave me Lorde vibes. When the beat kicked in after the chorus, and the backing synth, I was super into it! The synth seemed to slide into the background though, while the drums stayed in front. I would have preferred they both stay in front because otherwise, other than that brief few seconds, the song sounds pretty standard to me whereas I think they could have played up the weird indie-style sound they were kind of going for to make it stand out a bit more.
My other qualm was that the ending was too abrupt. Missed opportunity to extend it a bit and let listeners ride it out more.
I definitely like this more than drivers licence but I think DL was the right song to kick things off for her. I'm curious to see where she goes after this because I think she could be someone capable of making interesting choices with her music.

She lost many points cause of the Thursday release..she would have an easy top 10 debut with a Friday release.she can still debut at top 10 but her label should release her songs on Friday , not Thursday

Idk if it wouldβve provided THAT much of a boost

Plus I'm sure the label cares way more about getting the second single of their potential new star to become a lengthy hit than getting a high debut. Releasing on Thursdays does aide in the former. It gives the song a day to itself to generate buzz and rapport before the swath of new releases the next day.
