Quick thoughts on Olivia's album: I've given it two listen now, might give it two or three more. It's good but it definitely drags after the first half and the quality also dips, though 'hope ur ok' is a nice closer.
I think what actually harms the album is that her best ever song is the opener. 'brutal' is legit amazing, the type of song I can even see Olivia haters saying is good. I'm really hoping this is the next single because a borderline riot grrrl song being one of the biggest hits of the year would be amazing.

I don't think it will have as much sales as you all think it will. Less than 200k for sure.

Letβs wait and see. Again, they havenβt put out the remixes just yet, and I think those will put it over the top no matter what, especially with how well Good 4 U is expected to stream (analogous to WAP when Dynamite came out).

BTS kills the fun of chart watching :/ I think a lot of what this guy says applies here. Once an artist's fanbase moves away from enjoying the music toward talking about the chart updates all the time, the art loses its value. Don't get me wrong, BTS is disrupting the US charts in a way that no other non-anglophone group has, even though they had to release their first English song to start doing so. But at this point, the schemes to manipulate the charts is so intricate that BTS members could take turns farting on a beat and it would debut at No. 1. (Oh and I do realize this is a chart discussion forum, so this isn't a shot at anyone here.)

But why so many of you think BTS fans don't enjoy the music because they know charts and how to get their fave on top? I never seen a fanbase who loves music more than them. Except old school like Moonwalkers. And I spend a lot of time in different fanbases. To know the reason why they are so "chart obsessed" you would have to know history of BTS and all the mistreatment they suffered over the years but it's not something most of you is interested about.

Good morning. BTS is going to #1 again this week. In other news, the sky is blue, water is wet, and Olivia Rodrigo makes good music. And the Minnesota Timberwolves are shit.

The breakdowns when BTS is number one with 100,000 sales... We know it'll happen, it's not much of a breakdown. Plus the song is decent (I prefer Dynamite to it though)

Why does the new Jonas Brothers song sound like Last Christmas Wow...if Tom Petty got writing credit for three notes on Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" then George Michael's estate needs to get him a credit on this.

They have a bigger reach than western artists Well if we want to get technical. Internationally, the biggest act would actually be Bad Bunny. Before Save Your Tears was released as a single, YHLQMDLG was the most streamed album last year. In fact, Dynamite was exactly the 50th streamed song last year. Perhaps their the biggest foreign act in the US, but globally it's a bit different. Also as an Asian, "dominate" the east is a bit overselling it. Japan's market is heavily centralized that focuses on their own acts, BTS does chart but they have their own market. Same deal with China. And in other countries, BTS is big, but so are BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, G(I)-IDLE, Red Velvet, even MAMAMOO and IU have sizeable fanbases. In South Korea, for the past few months, Brave Girls actually had the top songs on Melon (South Korea's own streaming service). Asians know more than just BTS, is what I'm saying.

And in other countries, BTS is big, but so are BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN, TWICE, G(I)-IDLE, Red Velvet, even MAMAMOO. Asians know more than just BTS, is what I'm saying. You can't compare all those kpop groups to BTS. They are not even half of their level. Blackpink sales are mostly from China where you can buy songs unlimited times for cents. No one is controling it. Their songs? Even with big western artists can't crack top 30 on hot100. Twice is big in Korea and Japan and only there. Seventeen too. But BTS is huge in Japan. They are best selling artists in Korea of all time. BTS has stadium tours all over the globe. Other kpop acts can't even sales arenas. BTS topped US, UK, France, Japan and Germany at once with MOTS 7. I know you like kpop, that's why you don't like BTS but let's not lie. No one said asians only know BTS. But they are the biggest in most asian countries.

I wasn't trying to imply BTS wasnt massively successful, they clearly are. Also I dont necessarily see what's wrong with comparing BTS' success to other groups. Just because they havent crossed over doesnt mean we cant compare.

Also people please dont forget the fact that while the west has become audio streaming driven and sales have declined the east still has stable sales market and video streaming. Asian countries also have their own streaming platforms, my country does. We barely use spotify. YouTube is still the biggest platform. So do many other countries. Also nothing wrong with comparing, its just hilarious to compare bts to other kpop acts who barely have sold or performed as well as bts have in south korea itself. With them selling less than 10 million sales and less than 5billion points on gaon and

dremolus - solarpunk um, Bad Bunny is NOT the biggest act internationally. I don't know where you got that from. His two biggest platforms are Spotify and YouTube but there are several other platforms that other artists dominate more than Bad Bunny does. He had to release 3 albums last year to be the most streamed artist on Spotify. Despite releasing those 3 albums last year, Bad Bunny was the 11th biggest artist Globally (according to IFPI). There are artists who didn't release any albums/singles last year that ranked higher. BTS can actually make a claim to being the biggest act Globally because they were just ranked as that for last year. You can't say the same for Bad Bunny.

Going by mediatraffic's UWC singles numbers, Dynamite was the #7 biggest song worldwide last year. Map of the Soul: 7 and BE did end up being the two biggest albums. This is why I look forward to seeing a Global 200 and Global 200 excl. US year-end charts to have another frame of comparison at least for songs.

I'm guesstimating 400k+ for Butter. One thing the ARMY's know how to do is buy. Itβs more like your underestimating π. Thereβs no telling with the BTS scale of sales.
